As part of the pre-awards activities for its Season 7, The Future Awards Central Working Committee has announced The Online Media Business MasterClass for July 25 in Lagos, Nigeria. The MasterClass is for young people who want to run online media businesses in Nigeria and are looking for practical steps and guidelines.

“With success models like BellaNaija, LindaIkeji, YNaija, and others, young people are now taken in by the power of new media to influence conversations, drive agendas, inform, and entertain at the same time,” says Chude Jideonwo, who is executive director of The Future Project. “A passionate set of bloggers and young people who seek to build a career in social media have since emerged; what they need now are the skills required to build a reputable – and most importantly, profitable - new media brand.”

Themed ‘So you think you can blog?’, the full day interactive session will feature the facilitators sharing knowledge and information about running a media business in Nigeria; emphasising the opportunities, challenges, and strategies; especially in the peculiar Nigerian environment.

The training scheduled for July 25 in Lagos, is set to be a memorable experience for bloggers and new media entrepreneurs as the facilitators constitute some of Nigeria’s finest, influential, online personalities.

Facilitators at the MasterClass are Linda Ikeji (Creator and Editor, Linda Ikeji Blog), Chude Jideonwo (Editor, Y!/YNaija.com), Noble Igwe (Publisher, 360Nobs.com), Cheta Nwanze (Chief Information Officer, DailyTimes), Japheth Omojuwa (Editor, Omojuwa.com) and Ediong Umoh (Curator, NigeriaNewsDesk), who will share how NigeriaNewsDesk became the fastest breaking news service in Nigeria from its base in Calabar.

Topics to be treated include The Talent for Blogging, How to Drive Your Numbers, Building an Online Personality, Location is Irrelevant, Getting Your Technology Right, and Standards Still Matter.

The Future Awards Online Business MasterClass holds on July 25 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos with a registration fee of N2,500. Interested participants should visit www.ynaija.com/onlinemasterclass to register or call 08022226712.

The MasterClass is organised as part of The Future Enterprise Support Scheme (TF-ESS); a platform designed to equip young people with adequate Business and Creative skills to succeed in their chosen area of profession. TF-ESS is one of the programmes of The Future Project.

  19. @Anon July 15, 2012 11:34 PM, mind your words pls. I know that CHUDE JIDEONWO has a masters degree from SMC (School of Media and Communications), Pan African University. am sure u haven't heard about the school, (as per an OAU student wey u be)its a sister school of Lagos Business School and is located in V.i. For one to graduate from that school, u need to be very good at a lot of things including presentations and the art of public speaking.

He is very brainy and intelligent, can hold his own anywhere and anytime. He also has a lot of foreign exposure and experience that am sure u won't get in 20years.
So check people up before making some conclusions.

U obviously jst read pple's bio and not what they can offer! Olodo oshi... Be educated!

    2. Wow! Who's this fool! I'm sure u just went to uni(that's if u did) anon 11:34 just said someth she observed and u went on rapping and insulting her. U are obviously a nonentity! I did not go to OAU but I know the sch has got great content. Foreign exposure and experience he/she won't get in 20 years? U are daft! Why insult people this way? U are a shame to whatever university u grad from.

  21. CHEAP ATTENTION SEEKERS!!!!Why didnt Uche Eze start teaching you to blog before you guys started.
Why is Jason Njoku and other online media practitioners like Sai Sanko and co not holding seminars in the US.
I make good living from online media and i tell you anybody can do it and there is nothing to teach anybody.
I'm ashamed on behalf of you guys and you claim to make all the money in the world and you still decided to charge the so called participants.People like you guys make Nigeria so backward bcos foreign bloggers and internet media practitioners will be laughing at you.

  22. Will the organizer issue certificate after the training ?

  23. I love Nigerians because they will always have divergent views about everything. No matter how good your idea is, there are people who were created to oppose you and talk thrash. And no matter how terrible your idea may also be, you are sure to have praise-singers. I see nothing wrong in organising this seminar, irrespective of the name it is called. And to people who are losing sleep over it, the National Assembly didn't make attendance compulsory for all Nigerians. Why kill yourself over something you arent forced to attend? Like, seriously?

  25. Hoooooom! Bloggers world wide share experiences and ideas to encourage beginners,it is a welcoming innovation i must say but Linda et al, i was hoping this could be used as a way of giving back to our society and your fans. You only need to get corporate bodies to support this and in the process select the better ones for onward employment by our media houses.
