London Life, Lagos Living: The Documentary

A 6 minute short documentary about the popular collection of short stories, London Life, Lagos Living by author, Bobo Omotayo. His words below...
Seven months ago today, I released the most soul bearing endeavour I had ever engaged in my life. The result was a 196-page treatise titled ‘London Life, Lagos Living’. Initially apprehensive as to the likely public response, I am daily humbled by the public embrace of this labour of love by the reading public.
A couple of thousand copies later, I am astounded by the depth of feedback from readers, who effuse about how the book has in some way or the other made them laugh, reflect, reason and more.

This 6-minute documentary, directed by LA-based filmmaker, Francesca Tilley-Gyado, is not so much a story of 'the journey so far' but more a snapshot into what a typical week is like for the author and contributors to the book. This documentary is testament that it is possible for a hopeless dreamer to dream in ‘flights of fancy’ but yet have his 'flights' for his singular critic.

This is a toast to infinite possibilities.
Bobo

  11. She forgot to add how aggressively ignorant Nigerians are. How could anyone not appreciate the genius behind this? I'll try to remain eternally optimistic. God help us.

  18. Guys, Guys, Guys, Please stop the hating. Although I haven't read the book, the idea sounds novel and interesting. But I must say that the video editing and arrangement could have been a great deal better. My advise to Bobo is to have a revised viedo to market this book.
PS: The Labyrinth song in the background should have been used all through (no need for another song)and most importantly, the volume should have been very low whenever there is a voice over (your audience can't hear you if there is a loud "disco" in the background.
PPS: I am not a Professional, just my two cents.

  23. @anon 7.55am - RMD's attitude does not suck. Linda published a story about him that was totally false and based on the story people have been denigrating him on numerous blogs calling him a thief, Ibori's brother and other horrible names. These are unsolicited insults on your birthday. If I was him, I would have been tougher on Linda. You cant just use your blog to spread falsehood that cant be easily erased.

  26. Nigerians are always complaining about something but never doing shit.... Why don't you complaining idiots go write your own book or at least do shit to make our country better instead of complaining about ppl that at least try to contribute to society in a positive way (Or at least in their own way).... Fucking Morons!!!!

Kudos Young man for putting a plan together to pen a book and going through with it. I applaud you for that!!!

  27. If you guys actually click on the youtube page you will see there is a new official version where you can hear the sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSDzBYs_ca4&feature=related This is shameful- they are trying to spread a positive message and people are hating drawing out technical issues. This is what gives us a bad rep- give yourselves a pat on the back naysayers! #whenwillweprogress. WELL DONE TO FRANCESCA AND BOBO.

I'll definitely buy the book...looks like it'll be worth the read....but uh, the documentary didn't quite hit the spot....too much fluff, a tad too ambitious maybe??
And also you'all need to stop being in the people complaining about the quality of the video's faces...most of the holier than thou 'positive' people won't even buy the book, please learn that a healthy dose of constructive criticism is coolss.

In other unrelated news....Ground Ogbono bought at an African store over a year ago shouldn't be trusted...ewww:(

  32. Many of Linda Ikeji's commenters are very bitter and angry, come on here to pour out their frustrations about their life. Go somewhere else.

The documentary is good, just needs to improve or adjust the editing. Those complaining about his yoruba accent are fools. People are never satisfied. He has a mixture of Nigerian/british accent which i think sounds good. So what, if he grew up in London and sounds Nigerian, so what if someone grew up in America and still has naija accent. Talk about ignorance at its best.
