Army officers 'arrested' by Gov Fashola on BRT lane (photos)

Hehe! I guess nobody is above the law. Governor Fashola yesterday 'arrested' (more like confronted) two senior military officers who drove on the  BRT lane at the Outer Marina in Lagos. The Governor was around the area when he spotted the military car driving on the Bus Rapid Transit lane which is meant strictly for the BRT buses, and came down from his own car to confront the men.

No arrest was made but the military officers were at least embarrassed by the confrontation.

You dey try, buh dont get your ardent followers disenchanted ooo!

  10. He should have arrested them cos no one is above the law.we need someone like fashola as the president but unfortunately naija will never let him cos he will be dead if he tries that

  11. Correct Governor! One of our biggest issues in Naija is the fear of confrontations! Nigerians would rather look the other way instead of speaking out against wrongdoing. In fact, many lawmakers would not step out of the luxury of their cars to help their own people......

  23. Corruption and lawlessness start at the top. If these people can't obey rules, how do they expect people down the chain to obey these rules? Pathetic!

    ReplyDelete
  24. He tried to be disciplinary but civil at the same time! It was at least commendable of him to notice and even stop.

  34. That goes a long way to show that Nigeria is far from getting better... Nothing paints a better picture to show that some pple are actually above the law and untouchable..SMH..

  39. dat is nice 4 dem..from ogono nokia e6

    ReplyDelete
  40. That was a nice one by the Gov but its not really all about confronting these so called untouchables.making an arrest would have fully cleared my doubts because you have ordinary citizens who are arrested when they make same mistake.are we now trying to say some people are above the law?these common men pay taxes also and as such deserve the same treatment melted out on the Army official.kudos to the Gov who at least confronted but he could have done better.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Pls the correct thing to do is to impound thier car like they would have done to any normal citizen.why do we have two set of rules in Nigeria, one for "the haves"

nd the other for "the have nots"

    ReplyDelete
  42. At least he exercised common sense by not throwing them in Jail or slapping them...as some governors will do..47vids.com (if only we could just take over everything and get rid of that Jona)

  46. How can anyone buy this?Just when the state is about to pass a law full of ridiculous sentences for traffic offences, our dear governor is seeing getting a traffic offender in uniform off a BRT lane. Yeah right!!!
It's all propaganda, I don't believe no one can see thru it.Lagosions are apparently not as smart as they think they are. Even my one year old niece understands this.

  50. Yes. They should have been arrested - at least by Military Police.
And it should be a permanent mark on their record.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sorry to be the one who breaks the chain of glowing feed back, but the spate of armed robbery is on the constant rise in lagos... do you know why? becuase fashola is treating the symptom not the problem... its good to paint and beautify lagos, but when u do this how much unemployment are you causing and what measures are you putting in place to make sure that people are not turning to a life of crime...

Im sorry but fashola is a big fish in a small pond, if u really want accolades, take a longer step out

    ReplyDelete
  52. Let's leave the individuals, focus on the crime and face the fact! I'm indifferent bout Gov. Fashola cos I don't know him personally but the abuse of law starts from the top.

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is so wonderful. At least let them understand that nobody is above the law

    ReplyDelete
  54. Now, that is how it's done!!

  58. What a good start, ever since when fashola took over the gov. Sit , he've been trying all his posible best to make lagos a better place.
So lets assist him by obeying the laws.

  60. If only there was a fashola in every state....*sigh* You Lagosians are enjoying!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well i find no fault with the governor but the stupid Colonel who disgraced himself and the Nigerian Army by coming down from his car. The position of governor can only be occupied by a Major or at worst a Lieutenant Colonel...And he went ahead and payed compliment, by saluting. I'm not advocating for non-compliance with the Law, but it was an Official car and he was flying his flag. Maybe those conversant with how the Military operates would know better.

  62. BRF has no right to designate a federal road for specific state users. But he has all the right and resources to construct kilometers of road to ease the ever nauseating traffic jam in Lagos.
