Gov Fashola rescues 3 kids whose parents died in Dana Crash

The parents of Joel Okechukwu (11), Chisom Okechukwu (9) and Esther Okechukwu, sent them on an errand yesterday afternoon and a few minutes after the young children left the house, the Dana plane crashed into their home, killing their parents, Jeremiah and Josephine Okechukwu.

The children were this afternoon rescued by Governor Fashola who was at the crash site to inspect the sad incident. The governor asked his aides to take the children to Government House where they will be taken care of until relatives of the children show up. The children were wandering near the crash site when Governor Fashola spotted them and heard their sad story.

  17. This is a totally failed state. I mean how can these children have been subjected to this and it was the next day, when they were seen wandering near the site that they were rescued???? No one knew about them before or what? Where did they pass the night? Can they ever be normal again?

God have mercy on us in this country o!

  18. I feel so sad for my fellow Nigerians over this great loss. It is terrible.

Now I wonder how the Haitians felt when half of their country perished due earthquake.

So many casualties....Oh God please help these people. Help them Lord, be their strength, heal them from every pain and provide for the ones who have no one to take care of them I pray in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

    Adaeze.

    1. Na the thing wey make me dislike u igbos be this. Ungrateful wretched things. They are NOT his responsibility. He chose to do so. If you have any sense, you'll know that the governor of their state of origin should step forward or the management of Dana air. I will actually like to see the pic of these kids when they were found. They should also be questioned. Cos knowing what igbos r capable of, I dey sure say the parents probably put dem up to this.

    2. Yes,its his responsibility buh do yu knw dat there are some governors dat will be in his shoes and ignore dm???
Pple like ohakim dat said imsu students shld stop complaining abt the increment in skl fees as poor pple shldnt bother themselves with being educated!!!
God will definitely bless fashola and put a smile to those kids face!

  35. The truth is Nigeria is not well organised. Gov Fashola did well by visiting and making provision for those kids but there ought to be a functioning institution on ground responsible for kids under such situations. While the governor is on inspection , there is supposed to be pple from the ministry of welfare who will ensure the security and safety of children affected by this diaster. When he visited , did he just inspect ?What is/ was his mission ? Did he do any other thing ? What abt co-ordiating rescue / recovery(ensuring the agency in charge does its job) ? What abt compensating and taking care of those affected on the ground? What abt other children who did not meet the governor by chance ? There were law enforcement agents , redcross,an outfit incharge of diaster but is there any organisation /body majorly to ensure those who lost properties / parents/pple who became homeless are cared for ? With this diaster is a chain of problems. Fashola , you are trying and I hope my questions have answers b4 they are been asked or maybe those issues I raised have already been taken care of ! WAKE NIGERIA AND LEARN EFFECTIVE DIASTER MANAGEMENT!!!!

  38. Pls let ‎№ relative show up cos it wld end up as a money making venture and the children may get less. Also i think they wld have found a safe place to sleepp last nite but just needed to come back today to find relatives or parents corpse. Make una give 9ja some credit now !

  39. Who saw the kids before? At least some people should be able to come forward to say they saw them. I don't quite believe the story. *sorry to say* but, three kids wandering together or probably crying will be really difficult to miss. Lagosians are known amebos, so some people would have asked questions. *random tots*

    ReplyDelete
  40. does it even make sense to ask the govt to adopt these kids? sense of entitlement everywhere...if he adopts them, then he might as well rally all the orphans in Lagos and adopt them. after all we can all make the arguemen that every lagos is entitled to govt money. pls apply common sense jare. Sad for the kids, but eventually, they might have to send thse kids to the orphanage cos they are not fashola's responsibility. an orphan is an orphan...whether the parents passed by shooting, plane crash or AIDS

    ReplyDelete
  41. I pray none of their relatives show up abeg! Let the governor adopt them for life. Extended families in nigeria can be so evil. Never trust them with your children. They will maltreat these kids if they get handed over to them. Relatives BIKO don't show up! Thank u!

  42. God bless governor fashola

  44. may God bless the govr of lagos state

    ReplyDelete
  45. He'll probably eventually send them to the orphanage. Lagos state motherless babies home. For those of you that have bothered to visit the place or sponsor some of the kids, or make them happy during any festive periods, you will know that Fashola does not joke with the welfare or safety of the kids. Baies found on the road, lost kids, kids whose parents died in accidents are all adopted by the state and sent to an orphanage, as long as the state is notified. Am I saying there's no room for improvement? No. There definitely is, but pls give the guy some credit and thank God he saw those kids.

  51. See the difference between a strong man and a jelly. You see a man take the bull by the horn and trys to fix a problem. Not our dear Mr. GEJ. Shedding tears like it'll solve any of the problems.
God bless you Fashola. And may God comfort those kids. #iweepformycountry.

  52. God bless Fashola.

But the average Nigerian is wicked sha... So the parents died, the neighbours knew and no-one took the children in? They were wandering around the site the next day? God forbid-o......

Hhhhmmm, the relatives may never show up-o... Dem fit automatically become Fashola's children......

    1. May this curse be reversed on your children, grand and great grand children, but in a worse fashion. Cos they won't have the opportunity of meeting a kind hearted gov to take care of them. Someone made an assumption, and you curse. It's like curses are the reigning thing on this blog. Smh.
