Uche Jombo, Van Vicker, others detained at police station for 12 hrs

Star actress Uche Jombo, actor Van Vicker, screenwriter Uduak Isong, Nigerian youth for change founder Michael Bobby Obodo, celeb stylist Yolanda Okereke and a few others were all arrested around 9pm on Thursday May 3rd by policemen from the Bode Thomas police station while shooting a movie scene at the Censor police station in Surulere.

They were all detained at the Bode Thomas police station for over 12 twelve hours. Their offense? The police accused them of using the Censor police station to shoot a movie scene without due process. Meanwhile the nollywood crew said they had gotten clearance from another police officer before they began shooting. The police officer who gave them permission was with them at the station but couldn't do anything to secure their release. He was later queried.

The Nollywood stars passed the night behind the counter and were released yesterday morning, Friday May 4th. Now I hear they plan to send the police a petition through their lawyers.

  1. Linda according to the police the permission they had was from a senior officer while they were supposed to have gotten the permission from the commissioner of police.

    1. Exactly! They can't go arrest kidnapers or boko haram members spreading over nigeria. But a group of actors doing their job, they can show them pepper! Naija police are a bunch of cowards!

  18. My friend is the DCO of Bode Thomas police station and made the arrest.
Approval for the shoot should have been got from the CP. The didn't have it and a senior police officer ordered the DCO to move in and arrest. Uche was mouthing off and showing herself. The police deflated the tyres of her jeep. Van Vicker was composed and cool all through. It was due to Uche's rude nature that the police wanted to press charges. In fact, my friend was surprised that upon all her mouth, she couldn't even place a call to a heavy weight to effect their release.
It was due to friends who started gathering at the station in the morning and pleading that they decided to release them. Van Vicker missed his flight to Ghana that morning.
That's the official version of what happened.

  19. @ tee boi.. That's just that woman ucheobi for u, she is so rude and arrogant when she is not even all that. I wonder if she were as popular as tuface wat u would have done. She is too stuck up when she is not even a bonafide celeb, she can never say hi to her fans except for young men even if they pretend as if pepper rest for Deir side. Ucheobi Jombo is not a lady and very spiteful, cos she wasn't invited to France for stephanie's weddn she went and started moufin d single mothers cos of Geneieve, monalisa and d isong. She needs to enrol at mama joke silva's etitque school and to stop look. For small small BOIS. Her real age is very evident now upon say she fit gastric band.. Not ageing well. Just my candid advice to her..

  20. Why did they not get proper authorization? They should not have shot the movie without doing so.Serves them right. They should do the right thing next time and shove their complaint.

I think alot of you here running your freakymouth should just sit down and shut the fuck up. If you dont know what to say back off. Stop coming here and talking like a bull Dog and for u that said Uche is not a half way celeb, it is obvious that u dont live in this universe and wether u like it or not she is a super star and u will live with it. Bulshit. Duhhhhhhh

  22. I guess this was all a big misunderstanding.uche is not all that bad.I sat next 2 her on a flight and she was pretty friendly.let's not forget that you shouldn't always relate with everybody.familiarity brings insult. She just hasn't found a firm common ground. Biko pele pele

  24. The location girl said they paid 20k to shoot just one scene inside that dirty police station , another group came for more money uche refused , they said their Oga sent them (thief people) they should be ashamed of them selves and why the hell do nollywood need to show the rest of the world how dirty the police station I don't know .please re create what our police stations ought to look like in your movies.

  25. Thieves were operating all over town that night but it's people that were working they were to harrass, uche thank you for putting them in their place foolish pple. The police should just keep shut on this because they don't have any case and the DPO was working with both the officer who took uche Jombo 's studios money and the ones that came to asking for more money.....uche, van and the rest better sue them for unlawful detention...useless pple

  26. Typical Nollywood movie script. By the way, those who said Uche is arrogant should just hold their water. Arrogant or not, she does not deserve an unlawful detention. And by the way, which movie are they shooting cos I'll like to watch when it comes out. I like Uche, she's got guts and Van Vicker is also cool. Let's just drop this idea of hating on our local celebrities. Abeg ooo...lol

  27. The main thing for me that stands out is the fact that this is the second time Van Vicker has been detained because of a misunderstanding. Now he may not be of Hollywood A-list calibre but he's still an international actor and all this wahala you encounter in Nigeria because of bureaucratic error is just bad publicity for us. How is it that an idiot police officer did not know the due process to be followed and his only reaction to the mess he caused was that he couldn't do anything about it?

  28. Its the nigerian policemen(most not all) that are bad and not the nigerian police. Whether we like it or not its still a govt entity and deserves some respect. Can these actors drive into dodan barracks to shoot a movie, claiming a sergeant gave them permission?even if gettin permission from the CP is a stretch, the least they could've done was negotiate with the higherest ranking officer in the station, and not pull one off to the side.

I strongly believe a better attitude by miss jumbo would've nipped the incidence in the bud a lot sooner.
