Segun Arinze resigns as Actors' Guild of Nigeria president

Segun released a statement yesterday:

The events in Benin on the 28th of April 2012 is now common knowledge (a failed AGN election held that day in Benin). I know I constituted an independent Agnec that was supposed to be devoid of any electoral rancour or external influences.
For my integrity and honour, I hereby resign as president of Actors Guild of Nigeria and it comes into effect immediately.
I thank the state chapter chairmen, his fellow presidents from other guilds in Nollywood, all AGN members and especially the media for their tremendous support.
I want to thank profoundly my wife, Julie, for holding on during the challenging period of service to the guild.

  9. NYC-1 says: I don't know what actually transpired that led to his decision, but I admire and respect him for the decision. How many Nigerians will exhibit such level of integrity? I respect him and wish him well. This is the spirit of civilization that gives way to progress and trust.

  21. I see why Nigeria as a nation endowed with young n fit youths has remained stagnant in civilization.the youths have refused to be liberal in thought, wise in speech and sharp mentally.FCOL"segun feeling like an oyibo dude, dat shit don't work in naija" is the dumbest comment ever read on this blog. All he did was give an outing speech any literate person should appreciate..pls Nigerian Youth d first step to liberation from bad governance is getting educated and I'm not talking abt getting a degree..let ur mind be enlightened.
