  27. Haba, is leaving half of the boobs out to everyones imagination now part of the african dressing? what about young people who look up to you. what happened to descent dressing. Adaora and the public who like to leave a little view please, this is not part of being descent. You dont have to leave anything open to project yourself or be known. Lets respect ourselves a bit more, and we will be taken more seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like! But seriously the designs ain't that impressive but good work though. And seriously people should just stop hating on the babe. So she's fat, then what? Do you rather she wallows in low self esteem? Don't you think she may have tried slimming down just like that babe in Phat Girls. Please give her a break! If life gives you lemon, make lemonade and in her case, her lemonade is really tasty.

  30. The breast is about to fall out......

    ReplyDelete
  31. She cant be encouraging plus size modelling, she is just promoting obesity, if I am her I would have set up a gym and fitness centre as well as a counselling unit on advising obese people how they can lose weight. With determination and commitment you can go from size 18-10.I have witnessed people do that.I know they say, each to their own but hey her health is at risk, so it should be a concern.

    ReplyDelete

  40. Crap!!! U have to be creative to design

    ReplyDelete
  41. I admire true African beauty - curvy, big-boned & non-skeletal women. However, most of the featured models here are obscenely obese. Fat ain't beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hmmmmm..na wa o..wat is these naw?? Why can't 9ja women workout 2 kip fit?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm all for big and beautiful, but these ladies are a walking health warning. C'mon they need to lose some weight instead to making clothes to accommodate their ever increasing bulk.
    Linda post my comment please.

    ReplyDelete
  44. her dress was trashy. too much boobs.

    ReplyDelete
  45. yo shut the fuck up guess she is happy with her body like that and yeah its a good thing she is starting her own plus size line of clothing at least to support big or plus size girls.....if u got a problem with it them u can like to kill ur self.....just so u know u dont only gain weight from eating ok #IgnorantHeGoat like u

    ReplyDelete
  46. But Adaora Ukoh wasn't this big before. What happened nau? Seriously though this isn't healthy. I'm a size 16 and desperately trying to lose weight..... I get loads of attention from all these guys who say "I like them big" but I don't let that deceive me o! Infact these pics have even made me more determined to lose weight.

  48. Its lovely ada igbo;keep it up,hater hug transformer

    ReplyDelete
  49. The dresses r awful. Her own in particular. They look like compound goats.she lacks fashion sense

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ok loving your body and all that is good and something I really support but this girl needs to lose weight and not try to find clothes that will cover up the fat. Trying to curtail excessive weight is not just about looks and getting the right clothes to fit, it's about paying attention to your health. Overweigt/Obesity is very very dangerous and she owes it to herself to do something about it. Mehn look at that big layer of abdominal fat! Not that she has even given birth before! Risky much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. they all need to lose weight. There is thick, then there is obese. They are wasting yards of cloth, and I think for their sake they need to know diabetes is real and they need to watch how they eat. Oh Linda you better post my comment, everytime i say the truth about their overweightness u neva post it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. ADORA....MUST YOU SHOW YOUR BREAST TO THE ENTIRE WORLD?
    DO YOU THINK THATS BEAUTY?
DO YOU THINK IT MAKES YOU MORE ATTRACTIVE....
MY FRIEND WILL YOU COVER UP....
FAT OR NOT...A MAN WILL STILL LOVE YOU....YOU DNT HAVE TO EXPOSE YOUR BODY.....
    BE A GOOD EXAMPLE

  54. The clothes are dreadful. Common just because they are plus size does not mean it has to lack fashion! What plus size woman would want to look bigger in what she wears? This is an insult to plus size women.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thats very nice of you adaora, gud job....

  59. Abeg nt feeling these whole fat trend its a sorry excuse for being a grub and rather lazy, and btw what saggy boobs is she flaunting there. Most of Dem r fat nt even curvy

    ReplyDelete
  60. @deejuwa just because you have a problem with fat women does not mean they should hate or hide themselves. What makes her an ode? is it because she is proud of her look? who are you to define anyones limit? what the gives you that right?
you just displayed your ignorance in insinuating that her weight is due to overeating. Some people are genetically predisposed to obesity just as some people can never be more than a size zero. Some have a slow metabolism meaning their body does utilize food quickly and stores it as fat but they still get hungry and they must eat just as some people have a very fast metabolism and nothing they eat shows on them.

OBESITY DOES NOT = GREED OR A LACK OF MODERATION.

Believe it or not, there are some people who want to be fat. its a lifestyle choice.

Some people choose comfort over vanity it is their choice to make.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Shut it! Nobody is naturally obessed. You can be thick but not obessed. Even if u have low metabolism and u get hungry easily, you can help urself by snacking on fruits and veggies instead of bugers and sweets. There is NO excuse for the way they are pls. I am size 8 and I helped my sis go form size 18 to 12 in 6 months simply by counting calories for her and doing her food shopping and buying more healthy food with just a tiny bit of exercise. So keep quiet! They are simply not trying hard enough.

  61. This women may be celebrating their weight but they do need to understand that being overweight is definitely not healthy and they should stop deceiving themselves! Obesity is the leading cause of early deaths and is a contributory factor to a whole range of diseases including cancer, diabetes and stroke. Also, cover up whether you are a whale or a beanpole, please- remember you are ladies

    ReplyDelete
  65. It's a good initiative for bigger sized people, who also deserve a place to shop for nice things. The pink native wear being modelled looks nice. The only thing i hope is that her clothes won't be too tacky, and can be worn by slightly more conservative folk. But i wish her well

    ReplyDelete

  76. No offense but how did the audience manage to keep a straight face? I would've just been lol all night.

And just because you are a big lady doesn't mean that you would want/ like to dress like a glorified prostitute.

Please I know it's hard but those models should lose weight because that kind of fat is not cute or clever! Sad really.

And Ada please stop reducing your bride price. That cleavage is so unnecessary, it's a disgusting eye sore. Kindly cover it. Thanks. x

  77. All the stretch marks boobs outside! Pls cover up! There's absolutely nothing flattering about dis awful image!

  78. NYC-1 says: I feel genuinely worried for these women. It beats my imagination that someone will opt to capitalize on her disability. Perhaps, some may say she is unique and trying something different, but this is not creativity. In the long run, these fat ladies are prone to heart diseases. Obesity is a disease. See how beautiful the women are, yet too fat for comfort. Pls exercise for atleast 15 minutes a day, it helps.

    ReplyDelete
  79. WTF!!!dis sight z horrible ooooooo espicali her outfit n d 1st 1#hissessssssssssssssss#im not skkinny ooo but at least try and look gud

  80. MonaLisa is on her way to becoming their size too. But na Adaora design the leggings or she just bought them and is claiming Couture up and down. How I wish she knew what couture even means. Ode osi!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I know plus size people gotta dress up and look good too, but abeg, they should stop encouraging themselves to be overweight. It causes heart problems etc.. Very unhealthy. Most, if not all the women up there need to be on a diet and hit the gym fast!!
By the way, what da heck does that Adaora think she's wearing? Exposing her boobs like that is so ghetto!!
After all said, the collection looks okay. Nothing fantastic biko!

    ReplyDelete
  82. what is even wrong with this adaora sef? i understand you want to 'celebrate the plus size women' but please make clothes to suit them not trashy outfits! there's nothing sexy about fat hanging out of and over clothes... and WTF is Adaora even wearing? No woman, fat or slim, should go out with her breasties all over the place! its a sore to the eyes!!! COVER THE HELL UP! mschew!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Na wa for big models

    ReplyDelete
  84. This is soo wrong.and her choice of outfit was d ugliest at the show......and yes iam very plus sized im a 16 borderline 18 and a very fashionable one at that but im telling u its all funn and games being a size 16 the minute u start getting to an 18 like iwas (iv strted working down) its uncomfortable and very much so lets face it there was nothing fashionable about all these things they had here i thot she was goin to show them how to dress properly for their sizes but forcing yourselves into thes skinny ladies clothes would only make u less confident please im very upest bout this show of shame....kilode!

    ReplyDelete
  85. wat is this babe trying to prove? that u shld eat lyk a fool and open a design label? her designs are tacky and that her dress their is a thin line btw spilling and flaunting ur sexuality in a sexy way and she crossed the line. dat LBD with the net tights WTF!!! was she thinking. she shld go and sit down and stop seekng cheap publicity.mschew

  86. I like what she is tryna portray..that BIG is beautiful and I agree but looking at the picture from this event I would have expected more...if I were her I would have done this event bigger and better!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. @deejuwa,my thots exactly. Its one thing to love yourself d way u are bt its another thing to actually love urself. She has just let herself go nd been overweight is NOT a good thing especially health-wise. I saw one of her old movies nd she's not always been "plus-size",so I am wondering what happened. Its like she dosnt care so far she has her "plus-size" friends with her. Don't like dis bt goodluck to her anyway.... Cindy

    ReplyDelete
  88. My dear Linda, Adaora and her so called models should try and hit the gym big time. It is for their health sake please. It is good to flaunt what you have but men, these horizontally challenged ladies should please invest in working out instead of fashion. Her boobs almost gave me "eye attack" lol!

  93. First time couldn't help myself and completely disregarding advice "If you don't have anything good to say, don't hit the send button".

Much as I celebrate full figured women - I believe there is a distinct line between being full figured and being downright unhealthy. I hesitate to point fingers (I've struggled with my weight), so will simply stick to comments on the clothes shown.

If I were full-figured, I will not purchase any one of the dresses shown. Perhaps there are some more, we didn't get the privilege of seeing - Linda? The purple dress on the designer is a no-no, and if thats an indication of the rest of the line, then she needs to rethink her designs.

Again, I'd like to say I applaud her entrepreneurial spirit, I just hope she has a sustainable plan for this business venture.

well, i saw that this was gonna come up on your blog so i just waited to see what she had in stock for plus size ladies before i commented. I must say that she really disgraced herself and us plus sized ladies even more...this is not fashion.. this is not classy...this is very very very rachet. These ladies are beautiful but I'm sorry they just have to loose weight...there is a thin line between plus size and just out of shape/formation. by the way, adaora abi wats her name? what the hell did she wear? what was that purple thing? like what is all this??? I'm a plus sized lady and I'm coming back home to start my plus sized line soon then adaora would learn how it is done! hiss...

  111. Confession of a fat lady7 May 2012 at 06:23

All the people abusing big gals should take a look at their mirror and see how their belly looks like, with their stretched mark breasts and hips!
Many of you here saying nasty things about plus Ladies, aren't better! I have seen some naked slim gals and cringe at the flat dry ass, and wrinkled breasts!
Puhleaseee! genes also play a role and it is good to watch what one eats, but STOP deceiving yourselves that it is ONLY plus size people that suffers heart attack more or faster! Slim people also drop dead from heart diseases also!
As for Adorah, i know what your objective is, well-done, but i must confess, it is not working for me! I DON'T like the expose of flesh, breasts and thighs!
As for those blabber mouths, i wonder how you all would look like after many years down the lane.
And for all the haters in LIB that only feel good about themselves running other people down, 'back to sender every insults!'

    ReplyDelete
  134. Adaora is selfish. The Ministry of Health should stop her shows. People can claim that she encouraged them to eat more food. If they start dying from being overweight na wahala be dat o. Yet, she has a law degree.

  137. Adaora you're on d right path, pursue your dream and don't be discouraged. Try work on those areas of creating a more fitted but dignifying attires and i can assure you all those negative comments will be a work over. We all come in different forms and sizes and try as much as possible to look good and be happy. Plus size is no crime.

    ReplyDelete
  138. BIA Adaora even if i praised and defended you last time why flaunt ur boobs like this na??? .....i will take back my defence oo

  139. Adaora you're on the right path. Go on pursue your dream and don't allow some comments to discourage you. However, try work on making your designs more fitted and dignifying. We all come in different forms and sizes and the most important thing is packaging yourself in an acceptable manner to make yourself and people 'round you appreciate the being in you and be happy. Plus size is yummy.

  140. why do many people on this blog think 4m their anus? I can't rmember reading anywhere that Ada is promoting obesity. D babe is only promoting a clothing line for big people. For crying out loud, do u tink loosing weight is a oneday stuff? So, d chics should be naked till then. U guys are sick up stairs. And for those saying they should go and hide in a hole, mayb u suld go n lie in ur coffin cos earth doesn't need a retard like u. However, Ada i expected more 4m u. U have the ideas but d outcome isn't nice at all. U only gave these fools more stuffs to talk about. Evryone needs to work out and eat healthy. Else u dats pointing fingers at them may go down 1st if u re not careful. Go to hospitals and see for urself

    1. You are just opening your fat filthy mouth to throw course on people you don't know! If people don't want to support obesity then you should respect that! We know losing weight is not a one day stuff, but does it look like they are trying? If Adaora is not promoting obesity why she can't come up with gym clothing for plusized girls or diet books? Sit there on you fat behind and be fighting people who doesn't like to see all these fat rolls modeling, nonsense!

  141. Losing weight and wearing nice clothes are two separate issues. They can work on losing weight (and I want to assume that they are because it's the sensible thing to do) but they can also look nice while they work at it. (The "niceness" of Adaora's designs is another question)

Everyone knows that you dont lose weight over-night, so its commendable that someone caters to the needs of full-figured women while they work on getting healthier and smaller. I dont think that a clothing line for full-figured women suggests that larger women should not try to lose weight.

It may actually succeed. I believe you must have heard of "Lane Bryant"?

  152. When you are bigz you are BIGZZ!

    More seriously,

Yes they are very big ladies but they could be on a diet or a fitness prog so its alright.

Hey even bigz girls need to look great. They desire to dress up just like any other lady whatever their size may be..

Per the more bizarre outfits: just like in normal fashion shows, Some of their outfits may just be for the event as most self respecting plus size know what to wear and what to avoid.

Feedback though harsh can be another opportunity, Who knows with time she can expand into the weight loss industry and run it concurrently with her current business. But biko make she at least make profit from this one first. Plus constructive criticism is better than sheer negativity. Please stop wishing people death when we are all going to die one day!!!!

Finally she is at least creating jobs and being self reliant and that sort of graft is what is needed in Nigeria.

    Its a win win :-)

    ReplyDelete
  158. Firstly, to answer everyone's comment about Adaora's boobs hanging out, is because she ran out of fabric ok! Secondly, this plusized clothing line is not a bad thing, it was created to show other women what will happen to them if they continue to eat amala for breakfast, pounded yam for lunch and eba for dinner! We should all thank Adaora for the encouragement! I'm hitting the gym at 6 am tomorrow!

  163. Adora has a good concept which is giving style to the plus ladies but she should do so with a good sense of decency.

    ReplyDelete
  164. while I appreiciate people pointing out that the women are within the unhealthy weight range and need to do something ASAP, there is really no need for name calling and out right abuse. being nasty while critisizing aoutomatically makes u a "hater" in the eyes of the critiszed.

    ReplyDelete
  165. @ Anon that called Adaora a fool, prostitute and so many harsh words: Was that meant to be a piece of advice? What has she done to you? If you don't like the way she looks, then you should have just given her some constructive criticism.

I feel really bad about your hurtful words, honest, cos Adaora is a very lovely girl with a good heart and she is working really hard. I remember when she once made her intentions known about losing weight on this blog and she got so much public support, with the majority telling her that they loved her the way she looked. What if that support inspired her to just embrace her curves and come up with this concept to encourage other plus sized ladies to do the same?

She is not a prostitute or a fool and her mother is proud of her hard working daughter. It is not her fault if she is overweight, some people are genetically built that way.

I am not promoting an unhealthy lifestyle, trust me, I have been there. I lost weight so drastically that I am now seeing a nutritionist, as food is like sawdust to me now. Coupled with being a workaholic that works almost 24/7 like a slave, eating grapes is such a task if I even remember to eat. I force myself to remember to take multivitamins in my desperate quest to console myself that I am at least ingesting something "healthy".

All this started because I was also teased about my almost size 18 frame and now at almost size 8 with my once famous curves now a distant cry, I am seeing a nutritionist to try and help me start eating. I trained my mind to loathe carbs, any food that I see oil floating on and juice; and picked up an unhealthy habit to take my mind off food. The result: yes, I HATE food...but is that healthy? A resounding NO! Don't underestimate the POWER of the mind. Being overweight is not healthy, but please be gentle in your approach to dishing out criticisms. By all means say the truth, but please no abuses. I can assure you that Adaora is NOT a prostitute and she is NOT a fool. She is a human being with feelings and she does want to lose weight.

About the cleavage exposure, be honest within yourself, many of us have fallen for one fashion faux or the other at some point in our lives. You don't normally see her dress like that. Maybe she just felt like crossing boundaries and trying something unusual. Also, it's a marmite thing - some people do like their women to look this way...otherwise Efik traditions like the fattening room one (though now extinct), wouldn't have ever existed.

Take it easy, administer your advice in small doses. God bless.
