Explosion In Port Harcourt

The explosion in Port Harcourt this morning was neither a bomb nor Boko Haram. The Rivers State governor say the explosion was caused by armed robbers who were on their way to rob, with guns and dynamites in their bus. They were smoking in the bus as they were going to rob, and as God would have it, fire from the cigarettes triggered the dynamite in their bus to explode, killing only the driver. The three other robbers in the bus survived and were immediately arrested by police.

  11. it is wrong to conclude too early that its not Boko Haram, police should be allowed to conclude investigation The tanker driver should be identified and seperated from sucide bomber because boko haram members are mostly tanker drivers.it started in this form in the North

  12. Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers state just from the Explosion Scene confirmed live on 95.9 cool FM and channels TV that the explosion was not initiated by a bomb but a mistake by a group of armed robbers riding in the bus who apparently ignited their ammunition while smoking.
Only the driver and one of the occupants were killed, other 2 occupants are in hospital in police custody.
3 AK47 rifles were recovered from the vehicle. No crater was created by the explosion, proving it wasn't a bomb; no shrapnel, no shock wave as by standers were not affected.
This coroborates eye-witness reports already received.
He reassures PHC dwellers that govt is doing enough to keep the city safe from terrorism and warns against presumptuous reprisal attacks and undue sensationalism in the social media.
