I will only mock, abuse or make a fool of him if a native of English can speak ikpeba's native language one of our languages in Nigeria

Nigerians please its time for us to start embracing our own languages because ITALY, SPAIN, PORTUGAL, RUSSIA, CHINA OTHER GREAT NATIONS AROUND THE GLOBE ALL SPEAKS THEIR OWN LANGUAGES what do we Nigerians speak that is globally accepted

For all those talking about the English Language not being our native language...

English language is our lingua franca! and that makes it our native tongue. If he was murdering french, nobody would bat an eyelid cuz we are not francophones.

As long as we are referred to as one of the English speaking countries, we must learn to speak it right. So please, stop excusing nonsense!

  38. @ Blake could you please check the deep meaning of illiteracy because i dont believe that someone that can not speak or write only English is an illiterate

    Definition of illiterate
    Bibliography:http://www.thefreedictionary.com/illiterate

    1. unable to read and write
    2. violating accepted standards in reading and writing

those definitions refers to any languages not English only, so wake up because even as forcible as we can be with the English language even the English natives cant still categorize Nigeria as an English speaking country because if they do, they wont be asking our citizens wanting to study abroad to be sitting for toefl exam. so why the force

I am a Yoruba person I live in London and studied in London as well but i have been able to teach all my white friends and colleagues Yoruba and most of the times they try to speak it to me. its not that I cant speak the language but I prefer to embrace my culture and Language

Nah..doesn't wash for someone that played across Europe..in a country where English is the dominant country..mmhh a big No No!!..balls down to laziness and 9ja footballers are so bad at this not just Victor..if they had polished their communication skills after retiring they would have been sought by nuff Global Sports Media..but you hardly see any despite having illustrious careers!!..
Most European and Asians are very proud of their language and though conquered this didn't diminish their culture unlike ours..hence the notion of them not speaking good English or accentuated!!
Don't be fooled maybe not in 9ja anymore..but elsewhere Knowledge is POWER/WEALTH!!

    1. I agreed with a lot of what you said but not that 'dominant language in europe thing'. Last time i checked english is spoken only in uk and ireland. Meanwhile france, switzerland, belgium, luxemborg etc has french as their official language.
I dont want to hold forte for ikpeba but where one plays also dictates the language one would be proficient in. Sunday oliseh can speak almost all the major languages in europe cos he played in nearly all the major countries there

  50. RealTruthHurts; English is universal. Most European countries speak English too. You can never be lost trying to speak English anywhere in Europe. It is dominant. English being dominant is different from it being the official language of other countries. When i compare the use of English in France in the 80s to its use now, the difference is clear. You will not get lost speaking English in France, Switzerland, Iceland or in the Nordic area. Even the Chinese and Russians are good English speakers. Sunday Oliseh is a polyglot person so has a flair for languages. Not all our players are multi-lingual. Ikpeba should go and polish himself It's not too hard. True about the laziness thing.
Look at sport stars especially in tennis and formula one. They have all embraced it. Sarkozy, Merkel, Castro and Hu Jintao all speak it, but won't speak it publicly because they believe in the (maybe superior) power of their own.

  51. Ibukun, you are just a bagger! It is fuss and not force !!! English not your language? In what language is your national anthem or national constitution written? At what age did Ikpeba leave Nigeria for your abroad? You were ask to write SAT/TOEFL b4 you were allowed to study in the UK? That would likely be after having an interview session and the authorities discovered how terrible your spoken English was/(still)is and your low/slow rate of comprehension. I also schooled in the UK and wrote no TOEFL. For those excusing Ikpeba, I know you will do the same for Dame P who was taught English in primary and sec sch, "passed" English Language in WAEC. Went to a polytechnic in the same Language. Taught (lol) in a school before proceeding to her husband's alma mater for her BSc and managed a community bank thereafter. The Italian, Chinese or Japanese who cant speak English never studied in the Language. Those who did speak the language fluently. Dame P and Ikpeba are disgraces to Nigeria and its educational system. Abeg, make una no vex for this epistle , na Ibukun dey annoy me

You don't have to get annoyed because this is linda ikeji's blog a platform to share personal opinions and views but if you are still upset count me out and if you want to know I did not say I sat for TOEFL exam because it was not a requirement for me anyway, all I have asked for is for Nigerians to embrace their own things and have a patriotic spirit (AT LEAST YOU GUYS SHOULD RESPECT THIS FACT THAT IKPEBA REPRESENTED THIS COUNTRY(NIGERIA) IN HIS DOMAIN PERFECTLY.) we all are talking about Ikpeba's blunders someone who has won a medal for this Nation in is field specialization and I think you guys should see one of Paul Gascoigne's interviews (An English person for that matter) maybe you guys will be surprised.

Talking About Colonization and Constitutions Language: Hong kong was colonized and released by Britain just like (Nigeria) but they later changed their constitution Language to Chinese due to the fact that they believe in their own things not like our country Nigeria that believe in pla·gia·rism with authorization excuse:

POLITICS: SO TELL ME WHAT FORM OF DEVELOPMENTS HAS OUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE WRITTEN CONSTITUTIONS GIVING TO OUR ORDINARY PEOPLE MAYBE OUR LAW MAKERS CANT EVEN UNDERSTAND THE CONSTITUTIONS PROPERLY AS A RESULT OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AT WHICH THEY WERE WRITTEN OFF (sarcasm)(LOL)
