Saidi Balogun gets N4m car as birthday gift from Ondo state Gov

Saidi Balogun's Toyota Camry was stolen by armed robbers in 2010 and he's been riding in taxis ever since. Fortunately for him, he relocated to Akure, Ondo State about a month ago on the invitation of the Ondo state government to be part of the entertainment activities marking the 3rd anniversary of the Governor's administration. Some other Yoruba entertainers are also in the state.

One day Gov Mimiko saw the actor boarding a taxi and was surprised. When the Governor found out that one of his favorite actors does not have a car and it was his birthday in a few days, he directed his aides to take him to a car shop and get him a car. Saidi got the 2011 Toyota Camry worth about N4million. He's been in cloud 9 ever since.* End of story!

You have to admit, I'm a good story teller. My English might not be perfect, but I know how to tell a story...lol

  9. Nigeria governors abi na politicians i go call them, they never cease to amaze me about how they discharge their responsibilies. Only in naija dem dey do yeye anniversaries.. Do your job and let your citizens/people celebrate you for jobs well done not wasting resources meant for poor ppl on yeye anniveraries, irrevelant spending sprees on entertainers when citizens are dying from joblessness, hunger etc. #MyHeartBleedsForNaija#

  17. Shame on the governor. I am from his state. Even though, I live comfortably, thousands of mile from home, I still feel for people in Ondo State; villages without good road, healthcare, schools, good water, and this fool went and bought a Camry for an entertainer. Favorite star my **s*o*e!

  18. The Governor is a̷ good guy, saidi Balogun is lucky, and they live happily ever after....Linda I try pass yu for storytelling abeg...lol

  19. So as accomplished as Saidi is he cant afford a car, but numerous Naija actresses who have no accomplishments other than one or two useless films to their name are riding brand new range rovers...

  20. So Ondo state governor has never seen an applicant on the streets, sweating n walking from pillar to post looking for a job so he can be touched n give the jobs seeker a job right away?
or heard/seen some one suffering from one ailment or the other so he can donate the full cash for the treatment of such a person?
it amazes me at the way we do things n call it help. i have no issues with the gov buying saidi a car but beleive me its all media stunts. some cheap stunts.saidi can afford a car with all the yoruba movies he's been directing n acting. all this ones na wash wash. funds meant for the ondo masses naim e take buy 4million naira motor for one man. rubbish!

  42. @Bola, abeg give my girl her proper title. Lagos state number one blogger ke...ka mari! She is naija number one blogger. Naija will always be Naija, I personally see the gift as pointless and a waste of resources, the money could have been put to better use.Mr Balogun should work and buy his own car like most responsible men would do.
@Betty Adex, I am absolutely feeling you, my persin(not sure whether you are a broda or sista, so for now you are my persin)

  46. nawa ooo 4 million oga gov just like that and have you finished looking after the old pensioners in your state???

    ReplyDelete
  47. And no one sees anything wrong with this? The governor just spent the state's money like his own personal piggy bank. These are the things that disgust me about

    ReplyDelete
  48. My grandad had been retired from the Ondo state government for the last 20 years. I saw him last Dec and he told me Oct was the 2nd time he had received his pension in all that time. Can U imagine this? Yet this Idiot (yes Mimiko is an idiot) is buying his fave actor a whip. Disgusting people (spitting on your grave. Hope U die slow).

  51. Hahaha . . .I laugh in Obolo. If this was an actress (as someone has already inferred in an aside manner), she would have been an ashawo; sleeping with govs, senators and who have you. Man no dey ash . . . but deserves it. Shame on you lot.

  54. Joke: Miss Buga 2011-2012 is Linda Ikeji.

You have guts and that is what it takes. Your English comment about yourself is funny. At least you graduated with an English degree from a top university in Nigeria.

Go girl! News reporting is a skill and not about knowing good English all the time since an editor can edit the rubbish. Ok! That is why it is easy for stars to become newspaper columnists at anytime.

  64. for the ignorant talking do knw how many pple mimiko gives money for medical assistant both on hrt and renal cases... pls go check ur facts right... have u hrd abt the pple he employed on both permanent and temporary basis... u saying you are living abroad why dnt u come down to ondo state and see the transformations yrsef... am not a politician and not on his pay roll but i went to my old schl recently i almost thot i was in the wrg place... it had bn transformed even beyond my imagination. mind u everybody cant be employed by the state government and if Nigerians can swallow their pride and do half of the kind of jobs they do abroad then we can move fwd.
i am not saying 4 million is a small money but it is even possible he buys it for him from his personal pocket... Nigerians shld stop hating....
