Singler Lami adopts orphanage

Soul singer, Lami Philips, did something quite unusual and grand. In a spontaneous act of kindness, she adopted an entire orphanage. The orphanage, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Motherless Babies’ is located at Makoko, Adekunle, Lagos and has been in existence for more than 25 years.

The  UN ambassador decided to adopt the orphanage as her pet project after visiting the home and seeing the situation on ground. Lami spoke briefly on the development
I have been seeking to support a specific cause in the society and have considered a number of institutions. But when I visited the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Motherless Babies’ Home, Makoko and shared experiences with the kids, my heart settled on them.”
The adoption is done through her NGO BeTheChange and she intends to use her large circle of friends to raise the much-needed funds to ensure that the children get a better life than the one they are presently forced to. Her activities would include monthly gigs whose proceeds would go towards the upkeep of the place and she also hopes that other celebrities, especially those with NGOs would come on board or take up similar causes in the society.

  10. True happiness involves making others happy. I am sure she is already blessed for being a blessing to others. Lets emulate this people, even if it means helping just one less privileged person.

  11. I love this! If everyone in a position to do something like this would do so... all children in orphanages would be better off.

  12. mind u if Genevieve isn't going abt show casing her good deed doesn't mean she aint doing good deeds, is she doing it to get public commendation or doing it to help the needy children. it case u vent been following the media craze "giving to the needy amongst the celebrities is a new fashion".suddenly every musician/ artist is celebrating their birthday in an orphanage.
so pls allow her go bankrupt adopting a whole orphanage if that is her goal.if not let God bless her for such a nice act.

  18. if her husband is a 'golddigger' then i think she might be divorcing soon cuz i remember wen she started music she was always gushing about being married but now i hardly see her ring and she is everywhere.on another note, this is a good gesture. but please quit music.

whoever mentioned Genevieve and said she should go and yada yada blah blah blah, GIRL PLEASE!!!!! first of all, what exactly have YOU done to help the needy children in your community? do you fund raise, donate, or even donate your spare time? second of all, it has already been said that Lami comes from a wealthy family, so maybe she easily has the resources to do such, so what the fuck are you on about? lastly, GENEVIEVE DID CHARITY ROUGHLY 6 MONTHS AGO WITH DENRELE AND RUKKY SANDA, BUT SHE DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES, ONLY THEY DID. see, this is what i hate....people talk shit and don't know what the FUCK they're talking about. if you took 5 minutes and did a little research, you will see that she has done her part.

so why don't you start explaining and telling us what YOU'VE done since you think charity is a MUST.

    anyway, on to the next.
