Fundraiser dinner for Kechi Okwuchi: the Sosoliso plane crash survivor

Kechi Okwuchi before after the crash

In 2005, Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja Nigeria, lost 60 students in the Sosoliso flight crash. In total, 109 lives were lost in the crash. Kechi Okwuchi was the only student and one of two people to survive the crash. She's since then undergone 75 surgeries. But she still needs help. She is scheduled to begin facial reconstructive surgeries in Boston this summer.

In order to help her raise money for the surgeries, a Fundraiser dinner is being organized for Kechi. Continue to read more about this miracle girl...

“A devastating plane crash, over 60% intensive burns, up to five weeks in medically-induced coma and over 75 surgeries to date have not hampered the spirit of our friend, Kechi Okwuchi. She may have been terribly disfigured by the accident but Kechi’s determination and hope to achieve her dreams regardless, inspire us each day. We would like to share her story so that it may inspire you too.”

After the crash, Kechi was immediately transfered to South Africa for urgent treatment. Since she had to relearn to perform muscle movements, physical therapy followed when Kechi was in a more stable condition.

  6. She will pull through. The worst has happened.

I lost my 11 year old cousin on that flight. Still so poignant.

Just sent my mum a text to double her contribution for this; one for me and one for her! She's involved through the Asolukas.

  12. Reminds me of i and my friend's favourite comment of TD Jakes.
Jakes said 'i talk about life dealing you a bad hand,i am nottalking about someone snatched my boyfirned or someone took my parking space in the parking lot.I am talking about life dealing you such a bad hand that you run out of tears.'
After reading this story and seeing these pics i can never complain about not having my dream job, dream bank balance, dream car and even dream sex.Screw dreams!!!
I am already blessed as it is.
I am off to make that call and donate to this worthy cause.
    Kechi,you are a star.A REAL ONE.

  29. @billante,
Seriously do you really think that amount in Naira, would even be enough for 1 tiny bit of surgery for anything significant?
God has blessed Kechi and we are all so thankful and this medium is to help ease her recovery and be a part of something mighty that God is doing.
