Naomi Campbell offended after Cadbury likens her to a chocolate bar

Naomi Campbell is considering taking legal action against Cadbury, after the company launched a new advert that compared her to a chocolate bar. The company unveiled a new campaign last week with a slogan reading "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town". And Naomi is mad as hell...lol

"I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful." Naomi told reporters

Cadbury released a statement saying: "It was certainly never our intention to cause any offence and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss,"  "Cadbury takes its responsibility very seriously indeed and we would never produce any marketing activity we felt might cause offence to any section of society."

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with being associated with delicious yummy chocolate candy. I would have been honored. But maybe Cadbury should have paid her for using her name or something. What do you think, was this offensive?

  4. No, i don't take offence at the reference to chocolate at all- I would even be flattered! But the advert did say a new diva in town- perhaps indicating that Naomi is an aging beauty queen, which she is anyway

  6. it wasn't offensive jor. yes, maybe she's just offended they didn't ask her permission but there's absolutely nothing derogatory about it, she should leave "black" people out of her pettiness and fight this alone

I think her iissue is with the fact that they yold her to move aside and nothing else. If the as was promoting her as sexy chocolate...do you think she'd mind? Abeg, old woman, go and rest!

  8. Cadbury has to be totally lying to feign ignorance at any kind of racial connotation in referring to a black woman as chocolate. it is complementary on one hand, but also racially prejudiced on the other...

  9. and this clown now has franchise over the name "Naomi"..mumu, woman, dumb as hell...she just want make lawyers chop her money!!!

  10. Personally I think that the ad was flattering and the comparison was the chocolate to a diva and not Naomi to the chocolate. If its any consolation, the chocolate is not all that sef, so Naomi remains the only Diva in town!

  12. WHY IS SHE CRYING? IF THE COMPANY SAID THE EXACT SAME THING TO BEYONCE,SHE WON'T TRIP. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT WOULD BE A FORM OF PUBLICITY FOR ANY CELEB.

AGE IS JUST MAKING NAOMI TRIP.
SHE NEEDS TO TAKE A CHILLPILL .

PS: ENOUGH WITH THE RACISM. STOP GENERALIZING BY INCLUDING "All black women". ABEG WE NO ASK U. Thanks.

  17. Ok my name is Naomi and I am suing bloody Cadbury, for messing with my 'Precious' name like that.
    WTH, Naomi shut ur mouth!!!

  18. ahah , cant people read anymore , the ad says 'move over naomi , thers a new diva in town' it has nothing to do with anyone being black , its simply implying naomi is a (past) diva

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is she the only 'Naomi'? Ad didn't say Naomi Campbell.
Make she go sit down jor. Be like say old age don dey worry her for head.

  20. I personally think the reason why Naomi is offended is because Cadbury is comparing her to the chocolate bar with diamonds around it. Remember when she almost faced charges for blood diamonds?

  21. nonsense. must we cry racism all the time

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nonsense.....
1-She is not the only Naomi in the word! These chocolate's guy should have denied everything!! lol!
2-She is not compared to a chocolate but to a diva and it is indeed lifting!

There is another diva! So he is a diva, not a chocolate! Period!

  23. Actually, i think the main reason she was mad is because they had the chocolate on a pile of diamonds, i guess referencing the controversy over the blood diamond case with Charles Taylor.

She should really relax and rest abeg, this is getting too much

  24. since when did the name naomi become copyright? it just shows that even at 40 she is still behaves like a child what a pity smh.

  25. Definitely is a compliment in my opinion, but then again she's shown why she is a "Diva". Get over yourself Naomi! Everyone associates chocolate positively and would usually use positive discriptions for it so.......And no, saying a new diva is in town definitely doesnt give the impression she is old unless her age has become a touchy issue for her.

  26. She loves being in the news and wants to stay eternally relevant. This is someone that has lashed out at people and hit them. When she was throwing her tantrums, she forgot she was a black woman from Streatham and Caucasians like to associate violence with black people.

  27. 1. we blacks hv to stop seeing the connection in everything has racism..gosh stop giving ursef headaches... u react wen u noe its paining u..

  28. GIRLS STOP YABBING HER...RUBBISH WHY WOULD YOU CALL A FELLOW WOMAN AN OLD HAG, HABA!!!! YOU WILL GROW OLD SOMEDAY AND PRAY YOU GROW AS SEXY AND AS HOT AS NAOMI CAMPBELL

  29. i would be flattered. how is it an insult to black women?

  30. People should be able to take light hearted comments like this about our color. I don't think its the comparison to chocolate that is upsetting. Its probably upsetting because she did not get a cut from cadbury. Imagine if she got some tidy sum out of this.. I could totally picture her lying in a tub filled with wonderfully chocolatey cadburys in a profitable ad campaign.. mschew..
