Warri-based lawyer killed days after his wedding

This is really sad news. Popular and well liked Warri-based lawyer, Barrister Ighoyefe Iyubu, pictured above, was shot dead by unknown men, but mostly believed to be armed robbers, in his Jakpa Road Residence in Effurun last week Thursday May 26, just days after his May 21 wedding to his four months pregnant wife, Eloho, who was said to have gone into coma after the horrid incident. The late barrister will be buried this weekend in his home town.

He is survived by his wife, parents and siblings. May he rest in peace..amen.

the killings in Nigeria are NOT getting "too much" it's just that one story will get over publicized, etc. do you know how many deaths occur in the very area that i live everyday? that doesn't stop people from coming here. and no it's not the ghetto, but it's the next county over. na wa!

this is sad, for real. if i were the wife, i wouldn't know what to do with myself.

  12. I read that he was UK based and came to naija 2 weeks before his wedding. He was killed on the 24th of May, 3 days after his wedding. His wife is 5 months pregnant also.

Naija tire me o! May his soul rest in peace and God grant his wife and parents the strength to get through this.

  15. I find the Killing of this Guy very suspicious, Because according to what i heard they just came to his house to kill him and did not take anything away, Is either he has done something in the past and have been wanted or someone just want to snitch life out of him . I finished from Ekpoma and from experience i know what am talking about. Though am not in Nigeria but i know how things work.

  16. @anon 2:11 pm....nothing wrong in leaving your fatherland to other places where u can get opportunities.btw naija is even so populated already especially the places that supposedly shud give the opportunities. pls dont make it too personal...if u want to travel too abeg feel free to do so...that was just the person's opinions.who knows if she/he has been hearing so many bad stories.wud u blame her/him?anyway rest in peace ush o....

  17. That is very sad.

You see why I say nothing in life is permanent and why marraige means nothing especially amongst Naijas? The wife was probably very proud that she is now a 'MRS' and level don change but see how hubby is gone in a whif?

And then some haters want to question Genny for not getting married as if marraige is the begining and end of life and will forever cure 'loneliness.' Abegi.

May the killers of the young man be caught and dealt with....Amen!

  18. Anon 2:11, that comment was soo uncalled for.

Anon 12:53 isn`t the only person who is scared about going there. I have family in Nigeria, and would also be worried about my safety if I have to visit them anytime soon.

  20. anon 2:11you are a baboon for putting your silly and useless mouth in what does nt concern you....if i want to go to naija it is left for me or my family members to decide and it is none of your business so mind your business! i would really love to settle down in nigeria but recently i have heard of so many unnecessary killings that it scares me...

  21. anon 10:43 spot on i really would like to come back home to 9ja having been away since the mid 90ies to settle but the killings is getting too much. Imagine the youth coper who was based in london and only went back to serve and he lost his life is that not terrible. 9ja they fear me ooo.

My sympathy for this lady and hope she would be able to bear it as she would now bring up her child without the father. Na wa oo only few days to enjoy her new status and bang it was all over before it even began what kind of a country is this ehh.

  23. All you people living abroad should shut the fuck up. Most of us have the opportunity to live abroad but we choose to stay here. Safe or unsafe. Whether u r in america or in the UK or whatever country, we know people get attacked and killed for no reason all the time. Nigeria is no less safe. Just that the police are crap at investigating. Meaning, in America you could get killed and your killer might be found, in Nigeria, the possibility of the killer being found is next to none. So shut your traps and stop making it sound like you live in the safest parts. We call Nigeria home and choose to deal with it. If you don't think it's safe then don't worry we are 150 million strong

  24. @ Damisola im so with you on that! All you Chimps that live abroad and think that you are all that and a bag of chips, go sort urselves out please! I have lived abroad and i know how unsafe those zones are...racial/non-racial killings everyday etc. You can like to speak bad of your fatherland but speak good of another country where you are considered a second class citizen..stupid pple.
I bet most of you are the ones that manage to go do nonsense masters for 1 year and begin dey talk rubbish as if you were born in freaging LA and have had all ur education abroad. Also im pretty sure those of you condemning naija for being unsafe live in fucking Brooklyn or Brixton...Mugus

  25. @anon 2:01 is it our fault that you couldn't afford money to advance yourself in a better institution and environment? pls stop your ignorant and baseless hate and move on with your pathetic life. No one cares if you are incapable of improving your chances at a good life. someone died and we are sympathizing, instead you are busy showing ur stupidity. its people like you that lack ethics and reasoning. stop hating bcos you are unable to move positively in ur life. i'm sure you are either jobless or being paid peanut compared to how much ur mates with masters degree from abroad. And if you reply, you've just shown how brainless you are
