Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, is the new SGF

President Goodluck Jonathan has named former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He was sworn in this afternoon. The President also re-appointed former Chief of Defence Staff, Andrew Azazi as the National Security Adviser.

Recycling the same people who have been tested in the past and they failed. We seem to have the same inner circle in operation. God help us!

  7. Is this a joke or something? Or are you trying prove that you haven't being bought? How did Anyim Pius Anyim fail before? He might not be a fresh face but I don't recall his failures!

  8. Can you provide the way this man failed previously, because if he didn't then there is nothing wrong with recycling. Before Bankole became speaker of the house did he hold a previous position? See how much he stole. Maybe you should hire someone to write your political stories for you. You try an insinuate something without providing facts.

  9. I have said it before...and i will say it again! Goodluck Jonathan is as dumb as he looks! This country will continue its regress for the next 4 years and even further if the same bunch of donkeys keep getting recycled in government! This is beyond God helping anybody! He's done with us!!!!!

  10. Well Anyim is the best choice from the list of old horses presented by the PDP, Ojo Madueke or Wabara would have been a disaster. My fingers are crossed.

  11. Naija don enter one-chance! Hopefully Baba God will bail us out 4rm Jonhathan - the wolf in sheep clothing, even though the people wittingly made themselves his lawful captives by voting 4 him en masse. Can u imagine PHCN gave us light in our area on Lagos Island 4 at least 20 hours daily a month b4 the elections. However, immediately after the presidential election there was no more. Not even enough 4 us 2 watch the inauguration ceremony, which i have since been able 2 watch - courtesy Linda Ikeji Blog. Kai! Jonhathan the way u dey do we no gbadun. Carry on oooooh! u and ur demonic cohorts are unwittingly making the conditions right 4 "suprise supprise" which is coming soon.

You could have discussed this sort of thing with him at the meeting with the president the other day.........if you were so concerned.

  17. i can't remenber Ayim failing. Aside Olisa Agbakoba, Ayim remians the best among the lot. His days as senate president were good as he insisted on the independence of the senate to the chagrin of Obj. this also goes to show dat Jona might not be OBJ's stooge as many of us beleive. As a matter of fact, i'm hopeful going by dis apointment.

  22. It is out rightly uncharitable for Linda or anybody to cast aspersions on a man who willingly decided not to seek re-election in 2003. Ask our outgoing senators how many that didn't bother seeking re-election. Most of them did, though some failed at the primaries while others failed in the elections, yet others failed in the courts. There is even a hullaballoo in the House of Rep because of Bankole's 10Billion, borrowed without approval.

Anyim is an example of decency in politics. He didn't fall into corruption like Bankole or Wabara or Okadigbo. He has never been indicted, except Linda has any evidence to the contrary. He's a decent man, who achieved fame rather early (Senate President at age 39).

Talk about re-cycling, is it a sin for someone who has been in a position before to be appointed or re-appointed, or elected or re-elected. In the US of A, no rookie is ever appointed to the highest level of governance. There is always a reference to past jobs and appointments. Please read the biography of George H. W. Bush. He was everything before he became Vice President and eventually president. Clinton was a governor, Obama was a senator. It is a best practice which we need to adopt.

Now, Jonathan has been a deputy governor, governor and VP and Acting President, yet he has just won election after being massively voted in by Nigerians. The late Umoru Musa Yar'Adua was a governor for 8years before he became president. OBJ was in prison before he was recalled to Aso Villa. Atiku (former VP) just contested (and lost) elections, nay PDP primaries. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo resigned as Accountant General Of The Federation and got elected as Gombe state governor. Ngozi Okonjo was world bank VP, then Finance minister; now she is world bank MD. Prof Osotimehim (former health minister) is now executive director of UNFPA nWorldwide. Mansur Muktar (former finance minister) has just become an executive director of IMF. Fashola was chief of staff to Tinubu, then he became governor and has just got re-elected. Why hasn't anybody tagged all these people recycled beings. Why the sudden attack on Anyim?

I need answers please, or I'll assume that Linda is a hater, or perhaps just accuses people mindlessly without evidence. Perhaps, this is a case of a thief seeing everybody as a thief.

  24. Linda, can you throw some light on how Anyim failed? I would also like a response on the failure of Owoye Andrew Azazi. Please repond as soon as possible. I find this allegation quite weighty. It sure needs to be substantiated. Thanks a lot!

  25. @joicee, you're simply a hater! You can hate Pius for all you care, but he's the SGF now, no 3 in Jonathan's administration. His weight doesn't change anything at all. Who knows how fat you are, maybe you're over 200kg, who knows. Being a hater will only shorten your life-span.

  29. Anon June 1, 2011 4:47 PM; the SFG is not the number three man. He doesn’t even have the use of a private jet.

It’s the President, VP, Senate President, Speaker of the House in that order.

Anyim is better than most Ibo politicians. At least, it wasn’t given to the disaster called Ojo Madueke.
