  6. @ Truth,

What is your point. In your quest to give Linda an English lesson, you took away from the purpose of this post: to honor the memory of Mr. Okafor. Go away. Sometimes telling the truth is worse than telling a lie, especially when it is done to humiliate another. Go away...cockroach.

  7. @ Truth,

Go back and READ what Linda wrote and you will see that she used "have" and not "has" as you alleged. Tufiakwa! Some people are so pressed to be right that they will start making up shit to correct. Get a life!

  10. @9:21 PM....maybe Linda changed it after the fact.

anyway, RIP. such a beautiful family left behind. :(
i wonder if the police have any leads in this investigation.

  11. Linda, i think it was on your blog or another blog that i read that the police suspected he was murdered.

Did the police arrest who killed him? Where they Nigerians or people he knew?

I hope whoever killed him is fried in a gas chamber and electric chair, simultaneously.

    RIP.

  12. @truth: You are actually wrong. It's has not have.

Linda, you should have changed it cos you were right the first time.

  13. so which is it? i wrote has, truth said have...i'm confused...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  14. It is has.....In this case, it's a matter of past or present tense.

Would u say his body (has) been buried or his body (have) been buried?
Also, you wouldn't say "He have been buried"

Don't let "His remains" confuse you. It is has.

  15. "his remains HAVE been buried." you wouldn't say "they has been buried" abeg. same concept.

  16. Linda has a degree in English. So why should she not be sure of being wrong or right? I don't get it!

We all make mistakes, especially when we are in a hurry. I don't think Linda has a proofreader. Nobody is perfect. @truth was CORRECT. Let us move on...

  17. Even "Oyinbo" people do not speak English the way they write it. It is only Linda that you lot can pick on.

Go to 'Yankee' and tell an American that "You is..." is wrong and a bullet could drop your brains on the floor.

  18. @Adio, may be her Ijebu English degree na from Ago Iwoye college of education.-Gbenga

  19. Alicia says...
who is picking on her? we're just trying to help her out.
hisssss, i know whom not to lend my courtesy to.

  20. His remains HAVE been buried just like his remains WERE buried. Not REMAINS HAS and REMAINS WAS!
Moving on, may he rest in perfect peace and i pray they find his killers. His services to the country WERE undeniable.

  21. Madame Sting, please go and brush up your lingo. REMAINS is a plural noun and should always be followed by have or were. Get a word document and write “remains has” it automatically underlines the “has!” Also, this is not a case of past or present tense!! “Body” and “remains” are two different entities and there’s no basis for comparison.
Baba; American English is substandard and you wouldn’t hear Bill Clinton, Obama, Henry Kissinger or even polished people ever utter “you is” Anyone that doesn’t speak English the way they write it, NEEDS to go back to English school.
    May Uche RIP.

  22. Has or have, who cares? we all know what she meant.

As to the culprits being found, it seems the culprit was buried in his coffin...

  26. Reading through the comments, how could this turn to an English language debate. NA WA O!

  27. @Shakara: Where do u have ur English degree from? I'm curious. Anyway, wetin concern me, speak the one you think is correct. The last time i checked, i wasn't talking to you. Now let us all focus on the matter at hand.

May Uche Okafor's soul rest in peace. The picture of his daughter and wife crying is heartbreaking.

  28. Looks like Charles Taylor.Rest in peace mate.No word yet on how he died.Wake up American police. If it had been in Nigeria,we'd be up in arms condemning the police. This happened in US.Nobody's saying a word.
