Ban Tonto Dike or boycott all her movies? Why?

Muna takes it from behind...

Tonto Dike in a three-some with Jibola Dabo (her dad in the movie, Dirty Secrets) and Muna Obiekwe (her bf in the movie)

People are asking for the outright ban of actress Tonto Dike, and if that's too harsh, then movie watchers should boycott every movie she appears in. Mostly because of her role in the very controversial movie, Dirty Secrets.

I saw part of the movie yesterday, and erm...why are people calling for her ban?....I mean, maka why? As women, we should have dignity if nothing else learn how to support each other.

  1. I saw the movie and in as much as I didn't like the idea of the movie, she interpreted her role very well! I think the writer n the producers should share the backlash but tonto did her job n did it well. This is moho so don't bite me abeg. And just so I'm clear, I do not support evil and immorality but if we are judging the acting, i think she did rather good.

  2. I really don't see why she should be banned.
Even if they were having sex!
There should be a rating system in nigerian movie to prevent underaged audience to stumble on this type of movie if found offensive but to ban an actress.. And is she the only one in the movie? isn't it sexist? how about Muna? and the older dude? the director? and therest of the crew?
Why must she pay? did she write the script?
had this movie featured a Z-lister no one would care. They need to really get over it...

All this talk on the film is giving it more publicity...becox people are getting more curious to watch it so as to know what the brouhaha is all about!

  5. I don't want Nigeria to be one of those countries please...the movie should be banned but if they want to ban actors it has to be all of them not just the young female. But what sort of fantasy is this sef? Girl, father and boyfriend in bed? I've not even seen that one in Hollywood please let's not allow this to be seen as okay... the moral decadence is becoming too much!

  6. No wonder Ajo Mogaji ran away from Actor Jibola! The guy is ready to die for money in a threesome. Is he gay or bisexual?

I can understand Tonto Dike's part but why are people not talking about Jibola. Oh! He is a Bawalawo - Witchdoctor... Nobody wants to die? Ji-bobo carry go!

All these morality / religious police. Naija no be Iran, Pakistan or Afghanistan. Make unah leave Tonto Dike alone. She has God given right to act anything in any movie. She or her so called "off-the-wall antics" has not broken any law. There are worst things on TV more than Tonto Dike can ever act. She and her movies should not be banned. I'm just dissapointed that she's not doing hardcore porn. I wanna get freaky in the morning, freaky in the afternoon and freaky at night with Tonto Dike and her lady friends.

    I mean it; I'm not joking :)

  11. I rather not watch the movie. I hate when sex is thrown into a movie just for shock value. I don't think she should get all the blame. But in our society the woman is always to blame. A man cheats on his wife, it is her fault because she was not cooking for him or whatever. Anyways Muna or whatever that actor's name is should receive some of the controversy. His bum bum was all over the screen.

  12. Hi Linda I saw this movie and could not believe it. Quite raunchy! Not sure how this got past but then again it happens in foreign movies so perhaps though not Nigerian culture, the world is now a small village....
Happy new year by the way:)

  13. ewwww that looks absolutely gross. i dont see how that scene can turn anybody on.
as for the banning, no need. just rate it accordingly

  14. they shouldn't be banned, but the movie needs to be taken off the market, PERIOD.
    its disgusting.
how many American movies have even done garbage like this? yet, Nigerians are trying to go 10 extra miles over nothing.
did we need to see them "humping" to understand the point of the movie?
these people are trying TOO DAMN HARD.

  15. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the the movie. If they wanna ban anyone, it should be the producers, writers and directors.

Hollywood had worse movies jare so why the fuss about this one? In my opinion, Nigeria ain't ready for such movies and I doubt if they ever will be......

  16. I hate when everything gets compared to what Hollywood/America is doing. People, they are not the yardstick against which everything must be measured. As far as the movie, no biggie. Just art imitating life. We need to stop with the self righteous judgmental attitude abeg.

  17. I agree with ban. Ban fakers and pretenders from watching it.

  18. i boycotted her movie a long time ago because she couldn't act but she has improved..however i think she makes the worst choices when it comes to making movies..how many of her movies are actually good? she did 'my fantasy', 'men in love', an dnow this....all movies r kinda similar. it's not about morality or culture but those scenes in the movies are of no significance to the movie. they should be left out. i watched basic instinct..and i thought every sexual aspect of the movie was on point..when i think of basic instinct i even forget the sex scenes and nudity. but tonto's movie r just distasteful. jibola dabo makes me cringe and muna obiekwe...i'm just lost for words...i'll never see him in the same light. shud tonto be banned...maybe...but also the producers of these movies too.

  19. i will also add that sanga entertainment (producers of the movie) do the shittiest movies ever..apparently they are based in new york.

  26. I have to say that I am not Nigerian but I am from West Africa and a big fan of nollywood. we all agree that there are standards that our culture sets for us, no matter how liberal or modern we are we have to accept that somethings just isnt right in our society. I have seen the movie (thanks to the buzz about it) however I cant help but notice the double standards of both women and men of our society, nobody seems to be talking about the role muna or her daddy played, for god sakes they were fucking on camera, nobody mentions that, but here we go backlashing tonto for having heterosexual sex with tow men, it is absolutely wrong for the writer to portray her character like that but she choose to do the movie, and its her personal choice, whatever she hopes to gain from it is her business, however I dont see the need for boycotting or banning her movies. to be honest I am more disgusted by muna and her dad's character than tonto's, in this day and age when african societies are struggling to accept gay people, we celebrate them and nobody finds it wrong to say anything about their characters. and this is not in support of tonto or her role all am saying is that there were worst things in the movie that nobody seems to be talking about, only attacking this girl who obviously made her choice and is happy with it even if we dont respect or like it.

  29. Don't think anybody should be banned, however, I think it is bogus to depict a graphic 3some as was shown in these stills. There's a tasteful way to get the same message of immorality across, and this isn't it...

  30. If the acting is good and the story make sense, I'm in. I go try watch the movie soon. I've seen worse in Hollywood movies, so make una no dey pretend.

  33. Nollywood needs differentiation. This way producers, actors, studios and marketers specialize, and you know what to expect from certain people. In combination with intelligent rating, consumers will have real choice.

It is not necessary to ban anybody.

  36. A ban is not needed, its just most of the film producers/ directors need to spend more effort in producing films with more quality and not quantity. e.g, tonto dike is always in films because she is a good actress but after awhile she started exaggerating how she acts her roles. All that is needed is more time and attention to details in some of the nigerian film companies.

BAN TONTO DIKE or BOYCOTT ALL HER MOVIES?? WHY??

sweetie abeg.....lets try to celebrate our women....good or bad....men will always support men and try to make women tear thier own down.....

NAIJA society is full of hypocrites....nuff ssid

  38. I have not watched the movie and don't intend to as I am not a fan of either Tonto's nor nollywood movies as standards have slipped but I can't help noticing the double standard here- was Tonto Dike the only actor in the movie? Why not ban all the actors along with Tonto Dike? When things go wrong in our society, there is a tendency to heap the blame on women- sounds like double standards to me if you ask!

  41. Ok pretenders. Get real. I just finished watching Porn. I'm female and my boyfriend wld kill me if he knows. There are a lot of my friends who watch porn too. Hard working girls who are either engaged, married or in serious relationships. Nigerians shld stop already. Don't come here and act the saint. I haven't seen the movie, dnt plan to see it, but I bet a number of porn watchers/addicts are here talking nonsense. Tonto is obviously not the best actress in the world, but banning her is ridiculous! She is an actress, just doing her Job. let's Ban d nigeria censor's board for not rating the movie accordingly. Shikena!

  45. THERE IS NO MAIN STREAM MOVIE PRODUCED IN HOLLYWOOD THAT HAS A THREESOME COMPRISED OF DAUGHTER, DAD, AND BOYFRIEND, NOT EVEN THE RATED R MOVIES...THIS MOVIE SHLD BE RATED X..AND NOT DISTRIBUTED AS A RATED PG OR REGULAR MOVIE AS FIT FOR EVERYONE'S CONSUMPTION...HERE IN AMERICA...PORN ACTORS CAN NOT CROSS OVER TO MAINSTREAM MOVIE MAKING..THEY ARE DERIDED...AS MUCH AS SOME PPL WATCH PORN....THEY DO IT IN SECRET...BCOS EVEN AMERICANS AND THE WEST WE ARE TRYING TO COPY FROWN AND LOOK DOWN ON IT...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Banning the movie and/or Tonto Dike will make it even more enticing to people. The film should have been rated differently and marketed to a different age group, not placed in a general rating which made it more accessible to inappropriate age groups. And just to echo everyone else for the hell of it, it is quite something that Tonto is the only person being put out there BUT the two men in the film doing equally sexual things are NOT being derided for "lowering their morals" to being in the production. Na wa!

    ReplyDelete
  47. IF THE PRODUCERS WANTED TO ACT A PORNO MOVIE, THEY SHOULD HAD SAID SO OUTRIGHT AND IT WOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS 'ADULT' AND SOLD ACCORDINGLY! BUT TO DISGUISE IT AS 'HOME VIDEO' IS WHERE THE BONE OF CONTENTION IS!

THERE ARE PROFESSIONAL PORNO-STARS AROUND THE WORLD WHO ARE DULY REGISTERED AND RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ROLES! HOLLYWOOD DO USE SUCH PORNO-STARS AS BODY-DOUBLES IN A SEX SCENE WHICH BLENDS WITH THE STORY LINE AND NOT JUST 'DONE' TO ATTRACT SALES!

IN MY OPINION, IT SHOULD NOT BE BANNED BUT CLASSIFIED 'ADULT VIEWING ONLY! BECAUSE,IT WOULD BECOME A SCARCE PRODUCT, WHICH WOULD INCREASE THE SALE PRICE.

LOOKING AT THE PICTURE IN THE BLOG, IT IS INDEED A DISGUSTING SIGHT! THE STORY COULD HAD BEEN TOLD WITHOUT THIS SCENE AND PEOPLE WOULD STILL GET THE MESSAGE! BUT LIKE I EARLIER SAID, THE PRODUCERS WANTED TO MAKE QUICK SALES=PROFIT.

NIGERIANS ARE TALKING MORE ABOUT THE ACTRESS THAN THE ACTORS BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY WHERE MUCH IS EXPECTED FROM WOMEN SINCE THEY ARE THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY FAMILY WHILE THE MEN ARE THE PILLARS! AND WHERE THE FOUNDATION IS SHAKY, THE HOUSE WOULD COLLAPSE WHEN THE WIND BLOWS FORCEFULLY!

THOSE TALKING SHE IS A PROFESSIONAL, DOUBLE STANDARD, HATERS,HYPOCRITES, AND ALL THAT, WOULD YOU GLADLY AGREE TO MARRY THIS WOMAN IN FUTURE OR ALLOW ANY OF YOUR SIBLINGS TO?

I GUESS NOT! BECAUSE DEEP INSIDE, YOU WOULD BE AFRAID THAT SHE WON'T GO PROFESSIONAL ON YOUR FRIENDS OR RELATIONS, AFTER- ALL, IT IS JUST A JOB!

    THANK YOU.
