Cossy Orjiakor's description of Naija men...

When asked by Encomium magazine - How would you describe Nigerian men? Actress Cossy Orjiako replied "Nigerian guys are really good, when you compare them with South Africans. In fact there is no comparison. Nigerian men treat their women nice and they are very hard working. Even an Igbo man works very hard to take care of his wife. The only thing I don't like about Nigerian men is that they beat their women, and beating is the only thing that can make me leave any man I'm married to. If I'm married and the man hits me, or maybe slaps me whenever we want to have sex, the guys just has to turn the other cheek for me to slap back. If not, I won't stay in that marriage."

A no-nonsense women...Lol. I wish I could post the rest of the Hilarious interview here...
I love this lady...

  1. 'Wife beating' - that I've seen before and it is the 'sorriest' act I have ever seen.

Nigeria has her fair share of lazy, rude men too.

Haha, funny but true. It isn't worth staying with a man that beats you.

  3. simple, she don talk am. as far as you're not the cause of the abuse (because if you are, no matter how many men you leave the present one to, they would always beat you up because its your fault) then you have to show him pepper. pepper in the sense that you send agberos to beat the shit out of him and also report him to the police after all in Nigeria anything goes and one more thing....leave him!!!

  5. is this the ONLY picture of this woman in the whole world wide web? why does every blogger, magazine, newspaper always use this unfortunate picture with this rather unfortunate pose?

  6. wow, I had no idea the beating stuff was as bad as that. I thought that there were just a few insane men whose distorted visions made them confuse their wives for punching bags. I didn't know it was like a general constant. Now I'm kinda frightened. :(

  9. Nigerian relationships are a bit odd. Not much adult communication nor respect, just role playing. I.E Man expected to raise his voice, do as he pleases without any single objection, woman expected to kneel down, beg for things and smile taking it all in like a robot without feelings. That is unhealthy..

    Naturally someone will get hurt!

  10. I feel its all bull and overrated. there are a lot of respectable nigerian men who will never lay a finger on their wives....you forget the fact that nigerian women can be rather annoying- more annoying than their western counterparts. plus they nag and all that...but there are men who're man enuf to see the woman as their mistake and live with it..

@ Chichiluv..... what most people don't understand about Cossy is that she's wiser than what/whom you think she is. No matter how hard you search the net her pix are not easy to come by.

we don't need cossy to bring this matter to the focus, just watch nigerian films and that shows the world how nigerian men treat nigerian women. films speak to the issues in a society.
