Apapa road to be closed for one-year as FG begins reconstruction

A section of the Apapa Wharf road will be shut down for a year to allow engineers carry out reconstruction of the road that has been in a deplorable state for many years.

Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, disclosed this at the signing of a N4.34 Billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dangote Group and other stakeholders for the reconstruction of the road in Lagos today June 17th.

Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army have arrested a notorious and wanted leader of an armed banditry, Sani Ibrahim, alias “Burtu”, in Kaduna.

In a statement by Brig. Gen. Girl is murdered by her female cousin over a man they are both romantically interested in

A 22-year-old woman from New Orleans is dead after she was murdered and it turns out her cousin is the person responsible for her death. Brittany Seymour and the suspect Dannisha Green are blood cousins but they became embroiled in a long-simmering feud because of Brittany's ex-boyfriend.

Brittany’s sister, Bria Seymour,  said she had gone to a club with the deceased, unaware that their cousin will be there. At about 1 a.m. on Thursday, Brittany, her sister and her friend left the club but outside, an argument broke out between Brittany and Daniisha.

Man jailed for sharing photo of dead London fire victim on Facebook

A 43 year old man named Omega Mwaikambo who posted pictures on Facebook of the body of someone believed to have leapt to his death from the Grenfell Tower fire in London has been jailed for three months.  

According to the Telegraph, Mwaikambo who lives just yards away from the tower posted one video and two pictures of the body bag with the man inside and then later five pictures of the victim's face and body after opening it to look inside, all on Facebook.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has declared wanted the Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2015, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme, over a $48m fraud.

Olojeme has been accused of embezzling the said amount during her tenure as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund from 2009 to 2015.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolgatanga, has remanded into prison custody a self-styled Evangelist, and four others for accusing and detaining three accused witches in Duusi, a suburb of Tongo in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region of North Ghana.

This comes after four members of the same family were on Wednesday remanded for the lynching of an alleged ‘witch’ at Yenboka Kenna, a town in Pelungu, Ghana .

Cambodia court reduces sentence of Nigerian man jailed for fraud

A 37-year-old Nigerian convicted of fraud had his two-year prison sentence upheld, but half was suspended, at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday, June 15. Chimere Meze was convicted of fraud and sentenced to two years imprisonment in absentia in February. He was arrested in April and requested a re-trial.

We have arrested 124 suspected rapists in Kano - Police

The Kano State Police Command has said more suspected rapists have been arrested in the state, increasing the previous number from 96 to 124 between April to June.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Magaji Musa Majia, confirmed the arrest while parading the suspects before journalists at the police headquarters on Wednesday.

Bodies pile up as Mortuary employees strike in South Africa

Strike action by the Forensic pathology laboratory assistants working at one of three mortuaries in Durban, South Africa is causing extra pain on bereaved families who are having to wait to bury their deceased loved ones.

The employees have been on strike since last Monday over a failure by the Department of Health to pay their salaries, as well as allegations of tender fraud and cadre deployment.
