Pupils of a primary school in Warri North, Delta State are
pictured holding out the jollof rice wrapped in nylon (that is rice,
right?) given to them as part of the national home grown school feeding
programme introduced by the Federal Government. More photos after the cut...
The scheme is part of the N500 billion social investment
plans of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration and would see that
each child is given one meal per day in the first year of its operation.
Popular online news page, Sapele Oghenek claims that food
served to the pupils in most schools in the state are tasteless and
horrible. Instead of take away packs, the meals are wrapped in nylon
without spoons or forks.
it doesn't matter what you do people will still complain. how many meal per day were dey expecting? You should eat breakfast from your house, the food should only be served during break time, so what's with complaining about giving one food per day?
ReplyDeleteAnd as regards the take away pack, FG is trying to feed millions of students, they can cut cost by using nylon to wrap food, all the students have to do is to bring plate and spoon from their house, is that too much for them to do? on a normal day sef students do buy food inside nylon so what's the fuss?
with time it will get better we only just started and Rome they say wasn't built in a day. A big thumbs up to Buhari for the scheme, but I'm still mad at him sha.
My dear its not right its poisonous to eat food especially hot food from nylon if they are to steal d money they will never think of cutting cost its now on fulfilling their promises they knw its right for them to cut cost? It show's FG is irresponsible after all its a promise no one false them to make
DeleteIt's very clear you don't know the century your in if you see nothing wrong in giving students food in "nylons"
DeleteUr not serious with this comment abi ? This is a joke right ? When are we going to stop taking our rights as a gift from d Govt. in this country ? Realize that developed countries around the world don't even have crude oil....this is unacceptable ..they must find ways to improve this idea and why is this only going on in the north by the way ?
DeleteTalk of trying to feed millions of children,it's not by force..that's why they should let Biafra go..Canada is of 35million population..Nigeria is almost 200million..the country can split easily 5ways
A cheap take away pack will cost almost similar or a lil change more to the plastic bags, trust me..the Govt has no real intentions for this innitiative, hence it's coming without much plan and it's advertised only in the North and media for d others...it's just campaign gimmick
DeleteSo OUR children can eat in plastic bags which actually can cause cancer but our president can get the best treatment in the world from the abroad? We are the cause of our own predicament in Nigeria. Our legislooters are smiling home and our future are being exposed to meals that are not even balanced and plastic bags for hot food!!! Please we can do better.
DeleteIt is not the fault of the government. Rather,it's that of the handlers: caterers, inspectors and others. Everybody is corrupt!
DeleteOlolade u 're such a big fool.
Delete😂 you people will not kill me with laughter. Cancer kwa? Like you don't eat hot food straight from a plastic plate? Like you don't cook moi moi with nylon or plastic container? most of us buy hot meat pie from eatery, no be inside nylon Dem dey put am? Only few eateries remember to wrap in tissue before putting in nylon. I know the government can do better but at least they deserve a lil kudos for trying. You guys should come here forming Shit like you don't even feed your babies hot food straight from plastic!
DeleteYes the nylon does not look too presentable but easy with the criticisms na. You people should shift let me see road.
Ololade this your response is trash pls it shows you are just an educated illiterate, what do you mean? This is not acceptable at all
DeleteLolade I'm with you on this girl!. You are right. For some kids, this is all they get to eat all day. For most, it is the reason why they are excited to go to school. Yes government can do better but this is just the begining and it will get better
DeleteShame on APC
DeleteShame on BUHARI
Dem suppose use that nylon rice stone lie Mohammed and his cohorts
Ololade u are a bastard for this statement u made, what kind of animalistic view are u portraying here, u are part of what is wrong with this country
DeleteLolade I agree with you.
DeleteIngrates and murmurers like the children of Israel. Buy plates they'll say it was cheap plastic plates. When the plates are stolen (as they will) you buy new ones and then new ines and then new ones and then the cost becomes unsustainable and then He programme grins to a halt... and then what?
When a ship has no destination, and when people have no strategic goals, no wind is the right wind.
My problem is the quantity of food. It appears a bit small.... but we all know why.....
#dk
Goodness God,none of my child should collect this, its look like poison, can they stop this already.
ReplyDeleteLooks cancerous
Deletey r our leaders so wicked, these kids r not animals,y serve dem dat crumbs!! in nylon for dat Mata..haba! y steal funds meant for these kids n subject dem to this kind of life.. u pple dat r doing dis wont live to enjoy all dat stolen money, same goes for your children ..
ReplyDeleteStop giving yourself a headache!, most of these children eat food from nylon..... Even from home. You're just being over dramatic. The fact that this prog has kicked off goes a long way to help two things.
Delete1. Increase school attendance
2. Help mitigate the occurrence of malnutrition among school age children. Yea, it may look unappealing but at least it's something. 😉
U 're sick
DeleteGo to hell
DeleteA nation of twits.
DeleteWith oil at $50 the government has done this.
With oil at $100 that rogue from Bayelsa did nothing.
Gratitude opens the heart more (but I don't expect heathens and animists to understand that!)
Who are we to blame? The government or the contractors(cateerer) this goes a long way to show how much wickedness we have for ourselves . SSomeone was paid to get the job done n the person chose to feed the children as if they were dogs.because he has made his profit.if the money marked was not enough why not object then do such a thing. I strongly believe that the government is not the problem we are the problem . The school administration should have stood up against such but no they wont cos they have their cut. Change begins with us with me n u! When we stand up for what is right n frown at what is wrong despite the profit our silence would gain. When we develop value for ourselves n other
ReplyDeleteGbam
DeleteWe are not hungry in delta state those food should be given to the almagiries in d northern states

ReplyDeletena by force to feed.ha...learn how to make money trading binary options freely here...http://www.naijacrux.com
ReplyDeleteIt is fine, aren't they just black African children? They should feel lucky to have food at all, plus they should be used to eating with their hands;cutlery is for civilized people after all.
ReplyDeleteNow if this were white children ofcourse it would be unacceptable, but you blacks are used to suffering and you tolerate mistreatment from your government anyway. So do carry on with your plastic bag rice for your schoolchildren...I applaud you.
Lol
DeleteYou are sick I swear
Smh! What happens to aluminum bowls with covers n spoons? Be doing like animals. The bowls should be kept in the shelves and to be brought out when the need arises. Nonsense govt.
ReplyDeleteBETTER THAN NO MEAL AT ALL AS WAS THE CASE BEFORE
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that can satisfy us. If the FG dont do it, it is war, they did it, it is palava. They manage to fulfil the promise they made at the time that they thought Nigeria has money not knowing that GEJ government has stolen all the money yet some people still see bad in it. Go to Most public school, food are being sold to the pupils in nylon. Let us praise the FG when necessary an leave our differences out of it.
ReplyDelete"Anything worth doing, is worth doing well"
DeleteYou are crazy

ReplyDeleteDem don hijack this program too.
ReplyDeleteDem don hijack this program too.
ReplyDeleteThe children should pay for their feeding. It would take a miracle if the children are properly fed, their leaders are still embezzling and laundering money meant for their upkeep. To be on the safe side, the children should either bring their own food or pay for it, if they don't want to eat crap.
ReplyDeleteAnyone that sees nothing wrong in this feeding needs to be checked. They are children not dogs, secondly hot food in nylon bags exposes them to cancer.
ReplyDeleteEating without spoons of course cholera and other contaminations and by the way how much is take away plates?
Why not even ask the kids to bring their plates? Their mothers will gladly oblige
They are serving poison to the future of tomorrow.... Its not by force to do this one meal a day thing it just wont work in a place like Nigeria the corruption in the system just wont allow it to succeed.... I'd rather they shelve the idea all together before we begin to hear of reported cases of food poisoning and even deaths amongst school children across the nation
ReplyDelete@ololade u are very daft!!! U must be a very cheap and dirty human being. Gosh!!! U will accept for your kid to be given this as food? People like u are the real problems of this country!! U see this as a privilege? I'm really disappointed to be in the same planet with u
ReplyDeleteStandards in Nigeria are too low. @Olalede pls educate yourself. Stop making moon join in plastic plate OE warming food in plastic. Our ancestors that used leaf dis not have two heads
DeleteFunny enough, in warri, it is common for them to eat food from nylon so to them it is not a big deal
ReplyDeleteTo those criticizing the FG for this, you are obviously ignorant. The program is initiated by the FG but it is run at the local level by the states and LG's
ReplyDeleteThis is typical Ghana jollof rice. Anybody that supported this jollof rice package to these pupils, may his/her portion from FGN,be like the jollof rice these children are holding. In Jesus Name, amen.
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible!!! Can you allow your child to eat dis kind of govt food?
ReplyDeletechai suffer dey this country ooo
ReplyDelete-D great anonymous now as Vivian Reginalds
Spoon and eat nko
ReplyDeleteWarriiiiii!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's only God that can fix this country and the people in it by divine intervention. Recession of this regime has resetted already formatted brains of nigerians.carefree attitude everywhere.I feel the people contracted for this program are the major problem. They may say,"na my turn change wan begin" God, please come to our rescue.
ReplyDeleteLinda please post my comment. The kids are being poisoned by Bisphenol A. This is a hormone disruptor. it causes early puberty and significantly impairs reproductive process. Children are most sensitive. It is the chemical in plastic that makes it plastic. Please these children will be sick in their late teens and early 20s.
ReplyDeleteI am not quarrelling with the food - it's the cancerous nylon bag I have problems with. Please a better, safe package
ReplyDelete@Emeka and Co,stop shouting!(in galore's voice) I wonder why 99 percent of those condemning this are from the East, I wonder why you people didn't stop for a minute to think it could be the fault of the contractor (like someone pointed out up there) and not FG, I have more reason than one to hate this administration but that doesn't mean we shouldn't at least praise their little effort. we are just bunch of hypocrites in this country
