Billionaire kidnapper, Evans may get the death penalty; Here's why

The recent arrest of notorious kidnapper, Evans still remains one of the most talked about news of this year. Back in January, Governor  Akinwunmi Ambode signed into law Life Imprisonment or death penalty for the offence of Kidnap and forceful extortion in Lagos State.

With the on-going investigation on the activities of Evans and his gang, if he's eventually convicted, the law provides for death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody, and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping.
According to Ambode when he signed the law on January 5, 2017,
“this law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom. The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death. Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody, who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State. Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,".

    2. The issue with This criminal and his heroic arrest has taken over major issues in Nigeria. Infact, the Nigerian Police should create a Wikipedia page for him like it's been done abroad so everyone can easily access his info, not plaster it everywhere in the media as if it is the instant problem to suffering and smiling Nigerians. Just look! Is this how thieves politicians that kidnapped the conscience of Nigerians to steal billions are paraded? How many fulani killer cattle rustlers have been paraded like this. Will Abubakar Shekarau be paraded like this when caught? Where is Sokoto Biu? All the international news from Nigeria is how a certain criminal is caught. Where is the breakdown of the budget? What is the current ascertained GDP minus petroleum revenue? Is the rain aiding crops growth, what is the unemployment rate as at the first quarter of the year. Apart from Npower, what are efforts geared towards peace building among youth also aimed at the Sustainable Development Goals project? Evans this Evans that!

  21. They should be fast about it so that his death would serve as deterrence for other kidnappers and aspiring kidnappers and yes an 86 yrs old man died in his custody after he collected N15m ransom. Those saying they should free Evans are definitely kidnappers that should be tracked by the DSS.

  35. HOW MANY POLITICIANS HAVE BEEN JAILED...
IF NOT THIS BIGMAN HOLIDAY THEY CALL JAIL..
I'M NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD FREE HIM BUT DEATH PENALTY IS TOO MUCH...
HOW MANY HERDSMEN THAT KILLS, WENT TO JAIL?
SHEKAU HAVE BEEN KILLING... THEY LIED TO US THAT HE IS DEAD..

NIGERIA GOVERNMENT TRADING BOKOHARAM KILLERS WITH TERRORISTS, WITH THE EXCUSE OF THEIR USELESS INABILITY TO STOP THE INSURGENCY.

IF A KIDNAPPER SHOULD HAVE SHOULD HAVE DEAD SENTENCE, SAME SHOULD BE APPLIED TO TERRORISTS AND HERDSMEN KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE.

IF THEY CAN PUT DEATH PENALTY TO OUR FRAUDULENT POLITICIANS NAIJA WILL BE A BETTER PLACE..

  41. Convictions are based on lawyers ability to prove with some evidences that this or that exists or not. Media convictions and permutations could not be accepted as a yardstick for criminal cases in Nigeria.
Let's allow the juries to do their work. In my own thinking, it takes an experienced lawyer to get bail for Evans. Coz am already seeing so many artificial loop holes created for the young man,so far.
