‎Young lady commits suicide in Ajuwon Lagos by drinking Sniper insecticide

Tragedy struck in the Ajuwon area of Lagos State on Wednesday May 17, at Bada Hospital at Bale road, when a young lady said to be in her late 20's committed suicide by drinking sniper insecticide.

The lady, identified as Patience Akpan, was said to have left her father's place that Wednesday afternoon before she was seen in another street within the area wringing in pains, with the sniper bottle still in her hands.

Her dad is said to be a driver who works with a bank on Ajuwon/Akute road.

According to an eye witness, on the day of her suicide, Patience was seen on Oni Street around Ajuwon, on the floor and in pains before she was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

She had lived in the area with her parents about 12 years ago but when her parents separated, she left with her mum, only to come back that Tuesday and committed suicide the next day.

  14. Is this a new trend or what? Suicide among Naijas, esp her youths was unheard of just a few yrs ago. Kilo happening? Mehn, the authorities need to act fast to stem this unhealthy tide. Whoever told them suicide is the way out of life's challenges? Still, may the good Lord heal and help all those suffering from whatever it is. QED@atm

  16. Suicide is fast becoming a fad. What on earth culd hv prompted this? A lot of pple are under one pressure or another. But, that's where your faith comes in, We are a very religious pple. Upon all the mosques and churches we go to. What happened to trusting in God, faith in God, believing in God word, HOPE. It's really sad.

  20. Sniper is pesticide manufactured for use in farms in the bush and not to be found in domestic environment, authorities should ban safe stores and supermarkets.

I remember some years back I got pregnant at the age of 17,i was in ss1 then,i was by family, the guy unquestioned denied ever having any thing to me,i was sent out of the house,i was sleeping around in friends house I was depresed,i lost hope,i felt like taking my life, infact Linda I took some drug but instead I remain stronger and my baby remain healthy, and after having the baby I said to myself instead of dumping my baby on the gutter,i should take the life of but of us I took insecticide again i was working in a restaurant no help from anywhere,ad a teenager I cater for myself and baby but thank God today am a graduate and my son will be 12 next month and he is in ss3 now, and am just 29.so am using this my testimony to appeal to everyone that is facing one challenges from one way or the other to and you think suicide is the way out there is still hope for you.

    1. Exactly. Just the way you can't buy drugs without doctor's prescription in the Europe so it should be here. The rate at which sniper is being used is alarming. Anyone who wants to commit suicide already knows the fastest poison in town

    2. Linda, I had to stop my mum from reading your blog. The negative news outweighs the positive news here. Not good for her age. I haven't gotten over that south African lady that was raped, killed and Burnt. These things leave a mental scar. There should be balance.

    3. The problem is not snipper, the problem is they really really want to die. If they don't use snipper, they will find another means.

  24. Another case of sniper. Third one so far we need to do something about this. please in later blogs and sometime in the future tho we are not praying for more suicide cases, its best the means which was used be taking into consideration before posting if possible may not be disclosed cuz even people who have gone far in handling depression may see it as a quick means to take their lives e.g sniper. THIRD CASE SO FAR!
