Jackson Ude on Saturday,
met Mercy and Patience, who were among the lucky few that jumped out of
the moving truck carrying over 200 schoolgirls, who were kidnapped by
Boko Haram terrorists on April 14th, 2014.
Both started school this year at Bronx Community College in the U.S under a project called Education Must Continue Initiative.
Speaking
earlier this year at the 5th annual Global Education and Skills Forum
held in Dubai, one of the girls described how she jumped out of the
moving truck that fateful night.
"What happened that night
was terrible. We were writing our final exams. They came to our
school,dressed in military uniforms, so we didn't know they were Boko
Haram. They wanted us to get in the truck and told us they were going to
protect us. But they started shooting. All the teachers ran away. I
thought I was going to die. They came with a very long truck and loaded
all of the food and the girls. As we moved deeper into a forest, some of
the girls were jumping out of the truck. I turned to my friend and told
her her we should jump tow. We jumped and disappeared into the forest,
but my friend hurt her ankle and couldn't walk. We met a shepherd who
helped us with his bycycle. And then a man in a motorcycle took us
home."
This is a breath of fresh air in Nigeria's entertainment world. We are tired of all this Mercy Aigbe's kind of crude love, where you smear each other with faeces on social media and moreover involve others in the mess.

God is truly great! These girls profited from the tragedy of their peers and their lives and families will change for ever. They didn't have to be subjected to rape and other inhumane treatment but were lucky to gain the world's sympathy. Let us all pray for this kind of favour and exemption from trouble.

ReplyDeleteThis story is not completely true. These two girls are among the 57 to escape shortly after the abduction. However, they:
ReplyDelete1. Were not the ones that represented Education Must Continue Initiative (EMCI) at the Dubai event. The girls that did were one from the EMCI programme and another girl who was never part of the Chibok abduction. 2. Are not in college per se. They (and their parents) were intimidated and tricked into leaving the EMCI programme under which they were receiving proper educational instruction, handed over to the Murtala Mohammed Foundation and under which their educational level has declined, and not placed in a high school to continue their education, but rather are merely sitting for their GED exams which they have failed a number of times already.
3. These girls are no longer part of the EMCI programme.
The FGN has fed a lot of falsehood to the world, including the truth surrounding the Chibok abduction, but one day the whole truth will be made as plain as day.
