Huddah Monroe shades Mercy Aigbe, says women are to blame for not walking away from violent marriages

Kenyan socialite and former BBA star, Huddah Monroe took to Instagram shade actress, Mercy Aigbe, whose marriage to Lanre Gentry has broken down over domestic violence allegations. There have been back and forth rants over this on social media between husband and wife. Huddah feels Mercy and other women chose to stay in their marriages even when they know their husbands are violent. Read her rant after the cut...

  16. Stupid ignorant prostitute. Is she married? Some foolish man's sidechick who thinks she is a marriage counsellor.

The pressure and resources put into marriage in the first place, would make anyone think twice before wanting to consider the word divorce.

After that, the children, not having anywhere to go to, where they won't return you to sender, the shame.

No one should suffer in silence, but she is absolutely right, no one should stay in an abusive relationship because of the children, the trauma and example set for those children, will scar them for life, and what's the point of being the dutiful mother or wife, if one day you end up in a body bag? Your children will rather have you alive and free from abuse, than battered and unable to function, probably eventually focusing your anger and frustration on them, for problems you walked into.

    2. Stop contradicting yourself. Which is it? Should be stay or leave? Based on "the pressure and resources put into the marriage"?

    4. Why insult her and still agree ton what she said? You obviously hates her for no reason. May God forgive your hurtful soul

    5. So from the later part of what you wrote, i gather that you agree with her. However you just thot it would do your ego some good to insult and call her names first. It's a reflection on your poor self esteem. Your see a beautiful woman, who says something intelligent, who has the guts to say it just as it is and you immediately feel inferior and threatened. I feel sorry for you, whoever you are, man or woman.

    6. She made a good point, but the area reasons who women dinner leave their marriages. In the larger scheme of things, those reasons aren't enough. I'm expanding on those reasons, not saying they are right.

You're all a collection of intellectually stunted idiots, otherwise you would realise that the only thing I agree with, in her fucked up write up, is that you mustn't use the excuse of staying for the children as an excuse.

    7. Anon 11.14, what's her being beautiful, got to do with her telling victims of domestic violence that "nobody gives a fuck" about their plight? Especially when she has no first hand experience of the situation, beyond allegedly witnessing it?

Stupid isn't a respector of aesthetics, she needed a clapback, and I'm happy to oblige.

I'm informed enough to acknowledge a single valid point she made, but the overall assessment of her opinion, led to an informed conclusion, that her statement was superficial, insensitive and crass.

Those who confront domestic violence are brave, no one should ever blame the victim, and to reduce their speaking out to attention seeking, is antifeministic and enabling of more violence.

  21. No she is not right.
Her reality and how she grew up is different from others.
You cant expect someone that grew up in a stable environment to be expectant of violence.
And when it happens they first blame themselves and try to be better.
And then try to maintain an image they think is expected of them.
They do all untill they lose or almost lose their lives. It doesnt mean tgey are stupid, its just that they try to hold on and hope for a reality that doesn't exist.

    2. She is right but sometimes its not that simple. Some people have nowhere to go. Especially when kids are involved. Some people need to save and build something before they can go. Some others thier lives are threatened big thet decide to go and they have to run far. So many issues make it not as straight forward. But the right thing is to leave.

  27. Biko shush joor. If you've never been in those shoes you can't have an authoritative opinion. No one walks into a marriage to work out. Thankfully she didn't get killed. She walked before it got to that point.

  28. Some people are here abusing her for saying the simple truth, nothing but the truth! Why stay when you can away, family pressure, what society would say or because of the children? Let's all be honest, are these reasons good enough to stay in a marriage/ relationship to get battered over and over again and the next thing is to come to social media? Walking away isn't eabut don't forget these same people would turn around and blame you for not walking away. We are 2faced for abusing Monroe for saying the truth, let's look at women killed due through domestic violences ,didn't some people blame them for not walking away or abandon the marriage, she doesn't need to be married to know what to do.

  29. If a man beats you and u want to remain in the marriage, go and mobilize guys to beat him back so that he won't do it again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The lady is right. Life has no duplicate.A woman with her correct senses should leave immediately her husband beats her the first time. Once a beater, always a beater. If he kills you, in a corrupt society like ours, he may get away with it. He will move on and remarry. If you have children, his new wife will become their mother. Women should not allow society put pressure on them to stay in an abusive relationship. Love yourself and your children first and run as fast as your legs will carry you.

  33. nothing good can come out of some hoes other than 'walk away'. some olosho wifes will now use 'domestic violence' as excuses to junmp ship, if their hubby raised their voice. anything reach naija no dey end. pls it's not also okay to provoke your partner delibrately to the extent of then ruff-handling you.
