  5. It really doesn't matter what class of degree someone got while in school. what really matters is how successful the person is currently in what they do. #myopionion

  9. Does it matter if he graduated with a 3rd Class, He is a billionaire and the Twitter user is a what. Why not ask Bill Gate why he dropped out of School, education is good but your success in life isn't tied to it.

  18. People should just gather barrage of evidence before diving headlong into rash conclusion. Soyinka's third class at university college Ibadan was a directly undeserved reward for his activism against the establishment. He rejected the result and went to Leeds where he excelled and did much exploits. I do not think that he should be judged by that standard.

  19. Mr Elumelu, Such people do not even deserve a response. I know you had either a 2.1 or First. But be that as it may, you remain one of Africa's greatest achievers while the rumour monger is still jobless till date.

  20. I remember a Time when Ambrose Ali was an inferior university. Is that when you graduated? funny how aLL these smaller intellectuals rise and the braniacs don't. I think being smart accords one a sense of privilege that is self-destructive becos it makes you assume you don't have to struggle to make it. As a result you become slaCK and the degree by all means Other than learning who know they are doomed takeover because they bring determination and agression.

  21. I wonder why Tony bothered to reply such nonsense. It doesn't change anything. You have done exceedingly well for yourself, a highly placed entrepreneur who has created jobs for a lot of people. 1st class or 3rd class is irrelevant in determining one's level of success attainment many a time. Focus on your business and family and forget about gist and rumour mongers. Everyone in life has haters and people who love them. Even Baba God self get haters otherwise why people go dey follow Satan.

  27. What's it with 3rd class. The whole world know that Wole Soyinka finished with 3rd class and that didn't stop him from fulfilling his destiny. Tony Elumelu should have snub the report and not respond...........Some people just like drama.....

  29. Whatever class he has made a name for himself ,Nigeria and Africa. He is in the world stage already..

  30. It's only in some 3rd world countries that people get concerned with who made
a first class or 3rd class honors degree. I bet there are a ton of people walking the streets of Lagos and Abuja who have all that and nothing to show for it. It is an old-fashioned way of marginalizing folks who are qualified for something the establishment does not want to extend to them. How's does anybody determine that a mechanical engineer who got a 1st class is better than one with a 3rd class or a dropout who has actually designed and developed a technology that has changed lives. Folks in the 3rd world should kill the 3rd class way of thinking. This is the 21st century. It's about objective-driven education geared to give you the credentials to help you do what you can be good at. Its not about who can pass tests and exams. The 2 scenarios are very different. If you have a 1st class, of course, you should beat your chest but you must know your discipline and be passionate about it. Especially, if it will reasonably impact your environment in a positive way.

  31. A better topic to discuss here is the exploit of this hero in the transformation of Africa's business landscape. Through The Tony Elumelu Foundation He has committed $100M, I mean Dollars oh! to the development of entrepreneurs in Africa.

  32. It is better for me to come out in school with pass and be successful than having distinction and still becomes nothing.
