NYSC denies report of a corp members thumb cut off in Katsina

Last week, Facebook user, Ikenna Adol Madu, shared a post and photos on his page, which claimed that a male and a female corps member were attacked by some locals who accused them of committing fornication in their compound in Sabuwa Unguwa, Kofar Kaura in Katsina Local Government Area of the state. Madu in his post, alleged that the indigenes of the community, attacked the corp members for living in the same accommodation without being married. He also alleged that the locals chopped off the thumb of the female corp member and caused a bi gash on the head of the male corper.
Well, NYSC authorities have reacted to this claim, stating that the report is false.

In a statement released via facebook, NYSC says preliminary investigation shows that the people attacked were not corp members. Read the statement below:
The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to a publication with the above caption published in the online version of a national daily and an online blog.
The publication quotes facebook post of one Ikenna Maduabuchi who claimed that a female Corps member had her finger chopped off while another one, a male, was injured on the head by some hoodlums in Katsina.
We wish to inform the public that immediately the news of the incident broke out, the NYSC Coordinator in Katsina State visited the scene, a rented compound at Sabuwa Unguwa, Kofar Kaura in Katsina Local Government Area.
However, his findings showed that, though four Corps members lived in the compound, none of them was hurt or targeted by the attackers.
As a matter of fact, the wounded, according to his findings, are Dorcas Negede and Mr. Benjamin M. – an NCE holder, who teaches in a private school in the area and a student of Isa Kaita College of Education respectively.
Notwithstanding the facts of the incident, the Coordinator directed the immediate evacuation of the Corps members from the compound as well as made a formal report to the police so as to guarantee their safety.
Management wishes to assure parents, guardians and other members of the public that all Corps members in Katsina are safe just as we remain committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure their continued security.

  1. Even though they are not corps members, they still deserve justice and police needs to look into the matter to apprehend the culprits and prevent others from doing it again.

  7. "He who has not sinned should cast the first stone". You might be stunned to learn that some of those people that carried out the act are pedophiles and gays who feel that nobody sees them when they indulge in such crimes.
