Pope Francis has said that the church may consider ordaining married men who could potentially then work in remote areas facing a shortage of priests.
'We must think about whether viri probati are a possibility,” Francis said in an interview published on Thursday. He was referring to older, married men who are already involved in church business.
'Then we have to decide what tasks they can take on, for example in remote communities,' he said in the interview with German weekly Die Zeit.
Many in the church believe, given the lack of priests in many places, that a new path to ordination should be opened.
They think that in addition to priests who take a vow of celibacy, older, married men with a long commitment to the church could also be considered as priests.

ReplyDeleteThis pope is sure a liberal and a progressive. He isn't enmeshed in age old canon laws. He seeks accommodation for world's refugee and displaced population and has an open heart for people no matter their sexual orientation, opposed to right-wing populism surging in Europe, calling for food security for the world's hunger stricken nations.
ReplyDeleteHe is simply and purely human, unlike those who believe that "what was, still is", he knows too well that ours is a dynamic world.

Better than them molesting altar boys because of their sex-starved lives, while pretending to be celibate.
ReplyDeleteOh my great Pope.I like that.Soutane here I come. All those who hide under the soutane to cheat, this is a challenge. The Pope should better wear helmet henceforth because this will put his life in danger. He should also wear bullet proof vests and avoid eating anyhow make them no put Ogwu Oke for him garri abi Semo or Amala.Good idea. ReplyDeleteWith no bad intentions nor examples. Most priest are already married but secretly.
ReplyDeleteYou are right my dear
DeleteSomebody tell the Pope that Celibate Priesthood is optional. If you see a Road Sign saying "Celibates Only", why head in that direction when you intend to marry? The truth is that there are priests who are truly living the celibate life including, Pope Francis. Another truth is that not everyone is called to the celibate priesthood.
ReplyDeleteEnd time at work
ReplyDeleteNo be by force to join priesthood, if you can't be celibate then there is an option of marriage.
ReplyDeleteNNA PEOPLE ARE TOO QUICK TO MISUNDERSTAND THIS GREAT SAGE!
ReplyDelete-D great anonymous now as Vivian Reginalds
The idea is not bad, but we have to mined what we say. I encourage us to fight for our souls and leave priests alone to avoid adding to our load of existing troubles. The greatest achievement would be to save your soul.
ReplyDeleteIf you did that, u would have killed the church traditionally, cos u gonna open more vistas for change.
