VP Yemi Osinbajo condemns social media campaign to bring back corruption

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, condemned the social media campaigns by some Nigerians to bring back corruption. Some Nigerians started the campaign on social media believing that the hardship that is currently being experienced would be a thing of the past if corruption is brought back. Osinbajo condemned the campaign when he received members of the organized labor that staged a protest to the state house Abuja.

“Every time you fight corruption the way we are trying to fight corruption, there is a major fight back, because corruption in this country is wealthy, powerful, influential and it is in every aspect of our lives. It is in practically all institutions including religious institutions. The social media campaign of bring back corruption is an orchestrated one. Nobody that is suffering can say bring back corruption. Attempts by those who are being tried for corruption to delay trials are also part of the orchestrated campaign. If we don’t speak up against corrupt officials, who make it look as if there is a witch-hunt, then we will not succeed in the fight. Government needs everybody to speak up. We have a serious battle in our hands and if we don’t win that battle, this country will never get to the path of sustainable development. The major problem that this country has suffered so far is the looting of its resources. We must fight corruption hard. It is a tough one, but we must fight it.”he said

  3. The very same people that are stinking corrupt are the ones paid to demonstrate against corruption. What an irony. Tell me any labour leader in this present generation of NLC including Adams Oshimole that is free of corruption. Let them continue to fool themselves but we know better.

  6. What rubbish is this man saying. Was corruption ever abolished in this country? You don't bring back something that is fully in existence rather you bring back something that was abolished completely. Corruption is a part and parcel of this nation. It has become a way of life in this country. Even the hypocritical presidency that claims to be fighting corruption, is terribly corrupt.

  7. The VP is right, but again he needs to look inward to see if the fight is for the masses or working against the masses. Anyways, lets all try to live within our means or expand our means with legitimate opportunities that abound....LIKE THE ONE BELOW.

  8. Dear VP or Ag.P, you seem to have missed the point in "Bring back corruption" campaign. It's figurative. It is actually a vote of no confidence on the ongoing corruption fight because life of ordinary people have worsened rather than improve, the ultimate goal of anticorruption.

Dear VP or Ag.P, please show better understanding

  9. To me the VP looked very pathetic trying to justify a very corrupt regime like the one he is serving. No regime is as corrupt as the present one. Let me tell you Mr. VP the most commonest form of corruption is lies and deceit and these two are in abundance in your so call saints administration. Firstly, your president could not account for his educational status then his spoke persons are all liars they give conflicting reports every other time even they could not say exactly the numbers of day of their boss vacation. From Jan 19 to Feb o6 is how many days?. Tell us what they have done with recovery loot and why we have to borrow to finance our budget. Please #bring back corruption and stop deceiving yourself.
