In an executive order signed on (Jan. 27), US president Donald Trump instructed the State Department to immediately suspend the US’s Visa Interview Waiver Program. It’s an interesting action by a president who has made trade a central tenet of his policy platform, since it could, in the short term, inconvenience many frequent visitors to the US (and even dissuade them from visiting) by forcing them to have a face-to-face interview with a US consular officer every time their visa expires rather than simply dropping off their passport at a consulate.
Suspending the program could wreak havoc on US consular operations around the world that handle frequent visits from travelers seeking short term visas. The Visa Interview Waiver Program allows travelers to renew travel authorizations without an in-person interview.
The action is not expected to have any effect on the widely popular Visa Waiver Program, familiar to many by its front-line system, ESTA. That program allows nationals of 38 countries—including much of Europe—to enter the US without securing a visa at a consulate first.
A State department spokesman could not immediately confirm the precise effects of suspending this program, but said that it would announce any changes affecting travelers to the US as soon as possible.
This is very sad.....
ReplyDeleteVery very sad...
He just wanna distort the whole system...
Hahahaha this include those Nigerians supporting trump, enjoy his new touch😂😂🤣
ReplyDelete~glo rule your world~ cos I do•
it hasn't changed on their site na linda. where did u see this one o. it still has the dropbox renewal process listed.
ReplyDeletefALSE NEWS!!!! Fake blog!
Deletedis one hard
ReplyDeleteEleyi gidi gaan!!!
DeleteGreat! I can take anything Drumpf throws at meh.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm,odogu trump,you dey do oh.#i concor .
ReplyDeleteif not that this country is frustrating, what are we travelling to the US for? nonsense, to hell with him and his US.
ReplyDeleteGood talk
DeleteThat's good! We should stay here and develop our own country instead of constantly going abroad to enjoy the good life.
ReplyDeleteI don't support same stress for renewal but I want people like Wole Soyinka to be sent back
DeleteShatap there u moron. How does inconveniencing a person renewing visa affect developing your country?
DeleteMumu i bet you cant travel abroad obi akpor
DeleteLol.....I like your reasoning.
DeleteDon't hate my dear, if you did not get visa your first trial then try again. There is nothing wrong for someone to have in your words good life. Americans go on vacation to other countries as well.
DeletePlease shut your stupid mouth. Nigerians and bad belle syndrome.
DeleteU r saying non sense...what does dro0 box have to do with developing Nigeria... u dat u r here what have u achieved in ur local years...
DeleteI do not know what all this noise is all about, please! Their country, their terms! If you do not like it sit in your own country period! People do not give you terms on when and how to visit you in your homes you determine that. So bending neck over someone else's country is beyond my comprehension. If you do not want to do it their way then do not visit their country.Period.Enough said! I am tired of Trump said Trump did not say! Nigerians are the most vociferous about their new administration. Whatever you do, no matter how long you have lived there, been married to an American, worked, schooled, visited, YOU CAN NEVER BE AMERICAN!. Who are your ancestors, your county, your town, your village? You are and will always be full blown Nigerian.Your village in your motherland awaits you, realize hell or high water! So after all the talk and American posing, Nigerians need to realize that, It is their country.let them rule and reign over it the way they choose, please! Americans, the owners of the land said they wanted the man as President.Their choice! Good or bad they will bear whatever consequence. Never have I heard the Indians, Lebanese or Chinese in Nigeria crying foul over the way they enter, live or do business in Nigeria.Nigerians give them terms and condition, they abide and shut up.What is our problem with America and the way they operate? It is not our homeland, we have issues eating us out here in Nigeria. I f you want to visit them do as they say or just sit put and quit the whining! Please park well!!!
ReplyDeletePlease tell them! Sound it into Linda's ears too. She has been shamelessly attacking donald trump for protecting his own. Who blames him? We don't even know if our so called president is dead or alive.
DeleteWell articulated. You said it all, some guy almost stabbed me over the issue yesterday, when I towed your line of reasoning, I told him it's their country and you do things their way. Take it or sit in your country.
DeleteDats where u fail...dats d presidents choice...not 4 d people by d people...I won't want dat
DeletePls you people should leave Americans alone. It is there country. It is not by force for you to go there. If it is there rule to enter their country then abide by it. How can a 3 months ban be causing such a force. Haba!
ReplyDeleteTrump is a man of his word. Now the world should begin to take him serious. He has a vision for his country and I doubt if anyone coukd stop him!
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha
ReplyDeleteThis is serious!

Deletelol don't mind him. go and advice your own president who seeks legislative approval.
DeleteLinda your information is not correct. Just checked the site and it still shows "Dropbox Renewal Program
ReplyDeleteThis program allows certain visa applicants who have previously been issued U.S. visas to renew their visas without attending an interview.
Qualifications for the Dropbox Renewal Program
To qualify for the DHL Drop Box Visa Renewal Program, visa applicants must be applying to renew either a B1/B2, an F, an M, a J, an L, or an H visa. They must satisfy all of the following criteria for their visa class. If applying as a group or family, all members must fulfill each criteria to use the program.
Applicants who are 80 years or older automatically qualify for dropbox. Applicants 80 years or older are still required to apply and print a copy of their dropbox letter through the schedule platform."

ReplyDeleteLinda your information is false and misleading. Pls see correct link http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-visarenew.asp
ReplyDeletevisa interview waiver is different from drop box renewal. Linda its a pity you dont know how to read. The visa waiver program is for citizens of 38 countries mostly western European countries that do not require any visa to travel to the US. Nigeria has never been part of the 38 countries. Drop box still stands. please read and research before you start rumours.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame also that people here fell for the supposed Linda's gimmicks without going online to verify themselves. That is why we are where we gave as a country. People are to gullible, swallowing whatever propaganda they heat without first thinking through it or researching. May God grant us grace to use what he has put in our skull
DeleteLinda youy are a shame to mankind , so you came here to spread fake news just because of your hate for Trump..Thunder fire you

Linda you're a wack journalist. I don't know where you got this crap from, coz it's not on their official website. Stop causing unnecessary panic.
ReplyDeleteTrump bu anekwekwu anememe.
ReplyDeleteNawaoo
ReplyDeleteHitler also had a vision for Germany. He started with Germany first. Next, he said the Jews are behind world problem and then he decided it 'll be better to rule the world. Do not forget he also had plans to enslave Africans and use our land as a farm to feed the rest of the world. Populism always lead to secularism.
ReplyDeleteI was able to get a drop box confirmation a few minutes ago. Will confirm fully when I get to DHL to submit.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThis has no effect on me. I'm British. I also have Nigerian passport. I enter Nigeria without visa. I don't need visa to enter U.S, EU, Nigeria or any African country.
Trump can do whatever he wants. U.S is his country and he's the President.
YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LEAVE TRUMP ALONE.
TERRORISM MUST BE STOPPED. TRUMP IS DOING THE RIGHT THING. THE U.S HAVE THE RIGHT TO SCREEN EVERYONE CROSSING ITS BORDERS.
NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE VERY STRICT ON WHO IT ALLOWS INTO NIGERIA. THE IMMIGRATION POSTS AROUND THE STATES IN THE NORTH SHOULD BE EXTRA STRICT. ISLAMISTS LARGELY STREAM INTO NIGERIA VIA THE NORTH AND COMMIT ALL SORTS PF ATROCITIES. TERRORISM SHOULD CARRY THE DEATH PENALTY.
That's how he wants it to be, so be it.
ReplyDelete@ number two anonymous commenter to this post. Do you currently have a job ? I doubt you do, you are still being spoon fed by your mum and dad obviously. Some of us put millions in the US economy to provide Jobs for people locally here in Nigeria and having to wait several months to book an appointment for visa (hopefully you are approved) really affects businesses over here, hence the reason some are not too happy with the policy. You have a genuine reason to visit (business purpose ) and a dick head like you (interviewer)feels because your shirt is not properly ironed and therefore you don't deserve a US visa, and cutting your business dealings , how do you feel ??. Please try and do beans for breakfast daily, it helps with your reasoning. You can order from the trending guys @agoyinspecial for beans to build your sense of reasoning.
ReplyDeleteThis information is incorrect and drop box is still in effect, and for those who are saying people should stay back and develop their country; Not everyone is looking to abscond like you lot, to some it's simply a one or two week vacation and they are back to paying tax which help take care of some of you.
ReplyDeleteThis is not true! The dropbox option is still very much available for eligible applicants.. please check well before you spread fake news
ReplyDeleteAll this people saying stay in your country and develop your country. Are you government abi what development can someone that's not government bring. How many development have individuals brought to Nigeria. There is so much an individual can do. The responsibility of development lies solely on the government. Roads, electricity, housing, healthcare, education. The truth is the government have failed us. The situation is critical. The best option if for the country to divide let every region be solely responsible for its development. Nigeria is now a dead giant. Do not let anyone deceive you. Shame on our So call d leaders. Greed and selfishness has eaten up every corner of the country.
ReplyDeleteLinda please be professional enough to posts facts on your blog. A simple peruse on US embassy site Nigeria, still has the drop box facility available.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u guys...I used to read Linda's blog for info every morning but now I feel it's like the sun news paper. Too much uncertain news and irrelevant ones too... I think they should demarcated their sight for different sections
ReplyDeleteDid you verify this from the consulate? This is why Trump has issues with the media. What you posted is NOT TRUE stop misleading people. Dropbox is still available.
ReplyDeleteThis information is false, bloggers like you should know better instead of going to Daily mail and picking up stories only to edit them.Quiet unprofessional

ReplyDeleteGet these message clearly here, no Nigerian is being stop from getting American visa, you ought to appear for interview each time your visa expires. It has been like that before 2013. So nothing has spoiled yet.
ReplyDeletehmm
ReplyDelete-D great anonymous now as Vivian Reginalds
Madam Linda, get your facts right!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI called and I was told I still qualify for drop box renewal method.
ReplyDeleteflase Newssss. Dropbox is still available on the site
ReplyDeleteRubbish post by Linda. Please stop circulating this fake news until USEmbassies tell us so.
ReplyDeletelind ikeji kindly take this down, go to their website. visa renewal is still in place.
ReplyDeleteIt is pertinent for bloggers to provide accurate and verifiable information to the public. The information posted by this blogger is not correct please and people have commented on that. The USA Visa Renewal Drop box option is still available. However, what changed is this requirement:
ReplyDelete- The visa expired no more than 12 months prior to reissuance;
By last week it was this:
- The visa expired no more than 24 months prior to reissuance;
Just three days ago it was this:
- The visa expired no more than 48 months prior to reissuance;
So these are changes that came out of the new Executive order. I however expect it to go back to the 24 months it had always been, to reduce traffic at the embassy. It is however their country and they are 100% in what ever decision they take.
The responsibility for we Nigerians is to create opportunities that reduce the heavy flow to USA and other developed countries and increase the flow of quality tourists to Nigeira.
Correct! same thing i found out on their site...linda!
