Finally Toke Makinwa’s new book can be downloaded on your phone today

Toke Makinwa’s bestselling book “On Becoming” is finally available on OkadaBooks. To read the full book on your mobile phone or tablet today, install the free reading app at http://okadabooks.com/app and select the book from the store home page and start reading in less than 5 mintues!

The book is a must read! From issues centering around pressures of bleaching, to dealing with a cheating husband, to contemplating suicide, no subject is left untouched by Toke. This is a real book addressing real life issues that many are too afraid to discuss in a Conservative Nigeria, no wonder the book has been driving lively discussion in Nigeria since Monday.

Book Excerpts

On The Other Woman

"I tried to talk to him...a deep conversation in the dark where we could bare our souls to each other. I asked why he wouldn't let Anita go? What was it about her? With tears in my eyes and desperate to save my home, I was willing to learn, to become like her if that was what he wanted. If it was the sex, I asked him to teach me her moves"
Download the app http://okadabooks.com/app to begin reading the book immediately.

On Suicide
“I was sitting in the bedroom one day. There was a bottle of Dettol in the bathroom and a thought came, very strong, “Just drink it and die. What’s the point? The whole world is laughing at you right now. Just end it.”
PS: You can even purchase the book with MTN or Etisalat recharge Card or any Nigerian or International bank cards for just N1500.00 here

On Her Mum's Death
"Fear gripped me and I could barely move. In movies, you sometimes see a scene with someone burning from head to toe. Everyone ran back trying to figure out who it was. It took a moment to realize it was my mum. I stood glued to the spot watching her burn."

    1. So, I downloaded a copy of Toke's book and read it yesterday.
      I noticed one hot fabu as I read.
      Here goes:
      On page 48, Toke writes;
      "It was Christmas of 2007, five years after we met, and I was fed up...."
      (FYI, they started dating almost immediately they met)

      Flipping back to page 43, She wrote;

      "Our relationship was less than six months old"(so, meaning this is somewhere in 2002).
      "At home, my family was beginning to notice how serious things were getting with Maje. My cousin had told me to stop seeing Maje but I refused....
      The next week, there were photos on FACEBOOK of Maje with Hauwa in Abuja..."

      Now, here's the thing, Facebook was not in existence in 2002.
      No wonder the story was so sweet, it was padded with fabu 😂😂😂

  7. Even if it's been produced in an audio form, and just for me to slot my headset and listen to it, I care so less about the wailings of a bitter woman.

  8. Can someone just tell this girl that we've had enough of her drama? I wonder if her broken marriage is truly painful to her because she's turning it to a business avenue. It's irritating. Many fela me celebs had similar or worse experience, they never went to media everyday to publish the experience. She's fake abeg

I HONESTLY DONT KNOW WHATS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS BOOK AND THE NOISE/HYPE BY LINDA IKEJI.

  16. Toke is an attention seeker. Maje did not hide anything from her from the begining. The guy was open with his weaknesses. She forced herself on him. Teebillz verbally abused Tiwa which affected her self esteem. Maja hasn’t said anything against this bitch. Now she is commercializing her pain. Maje would be bastard to comment on these stupid book. I beg him not to give this bitch attention. She is not a virtuous woman. No matter how linda promotes this book, it would not change anything. Diary of mad bitches. Now I am loving Maje. I am a lawyer. Anyone who knows Anita should contact me to sue this bitch for libel against her character.

  17. Nigerians are stupid. They are not intelligent. That is why Linda and Toke keep cashing in on their stupidity. Nigeria has lost it. A bitch writes a book and everyone is talking about it. May I never comment on this bullshit again. Maje knew Toke was aware of his weaknesses, so he married hoping she would understand that he loves women. Toke knew all of this and was ready to cope with it. The news of Anita and a baby caused all of this. She could not cope with the shame that the whole world now knows what she signed up for. All the women hailing Toke, I pray your daughter and your grand- daughters would be like Toke Makinwa. Awon were Obirin Lasan gbogbo.

  21. I completely understand why this book is important for us nigerian women to digest.Yes it was her life and we sometimes don't see the need to tell people what we go through. But her sharing will definitely help women understand. Happiness is your own inner work. No marriage, boyfriend, girlfriend, family, job or title will ever fill that gap we so desperately try to fill. You have to like you first to be in a relationship with anyone. Otherwise you project your insecurity on them seeking validation. Some women can cope with a cheating husband, others can't. There is such a thing as open marriages but its not everyone's cup of tea. We bring up girls to have monogamy in mind and tell boys polygamy is embedded in their genes. Adults should take responsibilities for their actions and reactions. No body can really force you to do what you don't want. If it feels like torture please vamoose. No be by force.
