The Akwa Ibom state government has released a statement confirming the presence of the state governor, Emmanuel Udom, at the Reigners Bible Church, Uyo, when it collapsed today killing over 50 persons. The statement signed by the Personal Assistant to the governor for Information, Ekerette Udoh, states that a panel of inquiry that will check the remote causes of the collapse will be set up by the government. “The Government of Akwa Ibom State has commiserated with the families of the victims of the collapsed building at Reigners Bible Church International along Uyo Village road. His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel was present at the church service during the incident and thereafter personally supervised rescue operations and evacuation of the injured to the hospital. The State Government will undertake the medical treatment of the victims. A high- Powered panel of enquiry is being constituted to ascertain the immediate and remote factors leading to the collapse of the church building with a view to forestall the re-occurrence of such incident and bring to book persons found to have compromised professional standards in the construction of the building.”
He seriously ought,that structure was a death trap, can't deal!

Still, the number of reported persons dead are in the two hundred mark while other sources keep it at fifty. Which one are we to believe? What is the actual number and what really happened? Will Naijas ever know? This is the underlying problem to most issues/accidents in Naija: the inability to speak basic thruths whether in a personal or government capacity, in order, not to repeat past mistakes. WHOSAI

what investigation again? The structure was not completed. The heavy irons were resting on a structure that obviously has less strength, during the course of the service speaker has been mounted in strategic position which of course reverberation will occur and during time like offering, tight special thanksgiving when there will be a lot of shaking. just look at the tiny pillars carrying the heavy iron, tell me why it won't give way? simple reason why it collapsed.
