‘We were on patrol around 2:00am when we got to the Timida School area, we saw a man at a local food joint eating, we questioned the culprit and he confessed to have stolen’ a pot of soup, some wraps of fufu and half basin of garri. He claimed it was the economic hardship that led him to the heinous act.’He was presented before the paramount ruler of the area, the Obenibe XI of Epie Kingdom, Hope Green Adike for intervention. Hope Green ordered that the father of two who claims he only committed the act to feed his children, parade the stolen items around the community, after which he was forced to eat it.
After the owner of the restaurant was contacted she simply said she had no money to take up the case to the Police, and will therefore allow him to go freely.
Chaiya... God bless the restaurant owner. #HungerisDeadly

ReplyDeleteNa hunger and recession... Double your hustle
ReplyDeleteAnd a lot of us wont see beyond our noses. What type of ruler / community leader parades an allegedly hungry man? Whilst I don't expect them to pat him on the back and say well done, couldn't the Mr. ruler have handled it discretely without people knowing he pardoned the guy? We are a country of very wicked hearted people. This same ruler and the community will roll out the red carpet for the political thieves who plunged us into the economic situation we are experiencing.
ReplyDeleteUntil we are ready to banish political thieves when they come home, the masses will continue to suffer. Make we all siddon dey wait for government ok?.
Wish I could like your comment
DeleteThere is hunger in the land mehn....
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm bubu see what u have Turned the country to
ReplyDeleteThat traditional ruler is mean and senseless. So a man that stole fufu and soup to feed his children, he ordered that he be paraded and made to eat it. Stupid traditional ruler, same that will connive with politicians to rob his people.
ReplyDelete. ~BONARIO~says so via NOKIA LUMIA

ReplyDeleteIt is sad that a man has to steal food to feed his family. It could have been worst if he took up arms to rob for anything.
ReplyDeleteEven if she has the Money to make a case to me these types of Crimes (food Crimes) should not be taken seriously..
ReplyDeleteThe hardship in the land caused this, Man must survive..
If Money thieves like FFK, Obanikoro, Fayose just to mention a few can walk free i don't know why this Food thief should not walk free!
A man steals food and he is put on full display? haba mana...what about those stealing pension funds and still lounging in good hotels...enjoying freedom of thievry.

ReplyDeleteThey shouldn't have humiliated like that, knowing fully that he did it out of a desperate situation. And for the woman, too bad that she didn't just forgave him out of a big heart, but simply because she didn't have the money to further the case.
ReplyDeleteGod theres indeed hardship! and these leaders are doing nothing but getting richer. I forsee a mass protest/revolution that will definitely awake our leaders to be more responsible and human.
ReplyDeleteIts a pity what Nigeria my beloved country has turned to.
ReplyDeleteBeht y
ReplyDelete-D great anonymous now as Vivian Reginalds
The recession must be hard oh, in my village, when someone steals item like this,we don't disgrace them,we all feel ashamed and normally gives them the food to go home and eat. In fact give them more if you have. The whole village should be ashamed.
ReplyDeleteO chin, nothing wet person no go hear for this earth. You never see something.
ReplyDeleteChai... he was really hungry to have stolen the food BUT why did he not ask/beg for it instead of stealing
ReplyDeleteEva Da Diva...
If he beg, they will proberbly call him a fool. Stealing the food is the best option he has.
DeleteSmall time now, they will be saying people should not do MMM. You see what Nigerian government caused by not doing anything about this recession.
