Four female children were on October 25th, rescued by a good samaritan
around 1:00 AM in the night in Abak, Akwa Ibom.
According to Child's Right And Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) the children whose origins are yet to be
identified said they were told in a prayer house that they were witches,
an allegation which compelled their parents to abandon them in another
prayer house where they went to for deliverance, without
bringing them food.
Their parents later came to the church at the instance of the pastor, picked them and put them in a waiting car which drove them to the Abak bridge where they were again abandoned.
The children were malnourished and seen with wounds, bruises, and scars in different parts of their body indicative of variant degrees of torture, which of course are not uncommon with children who suffer similar faith consequent upon witchcraft stigmatization.
"My father said he's afraid of God, he would have killed us as instructed by the prophets." one of the children said.
Speaking after the rescue, a right activist said: "Children have continued to
be abandoned in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria over witchcraft allegation by
parents after desperate and nouveau riche pastors and prophets label
witches/wizards and made their parents force them on the streets if
not killed. These children were lucky to be rescued yesterday in the
wee hours of the night at Abak new bridge otherwise, they would have
been picked by the lurking human traffickers or ritual killers who
maraud the streets in search of children for diabolic purposes.
"Different states in Nigeria, mostly Akwa Ibom, Cross River and
River States, remain the hotbed for children abandonment due to
witchcraft accusations. Lagos and Ekiti have also been reported to be in
the high rank of witchcraft allegation on children and elderly people
in recent times which lead to their death and forceful incapacitation"

ReplyDeleteWhat type religious mentality do Nigerians have? so some stupid guy who call himself a pastor tells you that your child is witch and you abandon your own lol Nigerians are backward thinking people this is why religious mentality have finished this country nobody want to think progressive everything have to go through religious lens. this why my western friends always laugh about Nigeria because we still have a long way to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is wrong with this Akwa ibom pple sef? Its only in that state they tag children as witches and wizard. May God deliver una land!
ReplyDeleteThis is so unfair, and I guess the best way to go about this ugly trend, is to go after those stupid pastors labelling these children witches.
ReplyDelete. ~BONARIO~says so via NOKIA LUMIA
Dear Linda. Kindly take out time to proof read the articles you post. Though you might not be the originator but abeg now. Just edit small!
ReplyDeleteMay God never forgive those prophets and prophetesses that open these young ones up to harm all in the name of picking witches, chai, heavens will never forgive them o
ReplyDeleteFalse prophet every where, all they do is to bring confusion and hatred in the families that patronize them. They would accuse family members of witch craft to bring havoc in home.

ReplyDeleteThis is really disheartening..Thank God for the lives of those innocent kids, smh. People are really perishing for lack of knowledge, tufikwa!
ReplyDeleteThe same lack of knowledge that's troubling you, with your ignorance.
Deletena wa ooo, na for only Akwa Ibom child witches dey?
ReplyDeleteThis is the face of religion; child abuse. Superstition and cruelty, it's legitimised, where in your Bibles are acts like this permitted? How can people believe that this is permissible in this day and age?
ReplyDeleteAnd all you hypocrites, who come on here forming concern, you are as bad, because you are the same ones attacking people for being different. With your dissociative syndromes, child abusers, domestic abusers, jungle justice supporters, religious bigots, homophobes, racists, you all suffer from the same things, no moral compass, no conscience and ignorance

ReplyDeleteIn Edo we appreciate our witches.
ReplyDeleteThe parents are the witches
ReplyDeleteEva Da Diva...
First question why are dey naked
ReplyDeleteThese false prophets and pastors are the real witches and wizards living in various communities. In trying to deflect their actual identities, they put their cloak on the young, old and defenceless. Think: what genuine man/woman of God does not love the children? Even Christ urged the little ones to come to Him. Yeye pipo that turn the Word upside down for their own profit. Nawa 4 black man development vision.
ReplyDeletethe state govt should wake up and do something before the fury of God comes down heavily on the state.
