MTV Africa Music Awards 2016: Full list of winners

The  2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards, which took place today, October 22, 2016, at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa saw the host country dominate the list by winning six awards, while Nigeria went home with five. See the full list after the cut….


Best Live Act – Cassper Nyovest (South Africa) 

Best Lusophone –C4 Pedro (Angola)

Legend Award –Hugh Masekela (South Africa)

Best Female Award – Yemi Alade (Nigeria)

Best Francophone Award – Serge Beynaud (Ivory Coast)

Best Group – Sauti Sol (Kenya) 

Best Pop & Alternative – Kyle Deutsch& Shekhinah (South Africa)

Best International Act – Drake (United State of America)

Best Male Act – Wizkid (Nigeria)

Listeners Choice – Jah Prayzah (Zimbabwe)

Video of the Year – Youssoupha Niguer Ma Vie (Congo)

Best Collaboration – DJ Maphorisa ft, Wizkid & DJ Bucks (South Africa & Nigeria)

Personality of the Year– Caster Semenya (South Africa)

Best Hip Hop – Emtee (South Africa)

Best New Act – Tekno (Nigeria)

Song of the Year – Patoranking ft, Wande Coal (Nigeria)

Artiste of the Year – Wizkid (Nigeria)

    Now those who compare wizkid and davido will now realise there is a big difference davido is a guy full with lot of talents and born with silver spoon but though he worked for his money but with support of his dad but wizkid worked for his money even olamide gave him respect cause wizkid was in limelight before him ride on boy

Im no fan but i follow your blog just for any news i see that's worth it. All your fans are very disloyal.     That list is incomplete. Linda Ikeji is our choice personality of the year. To the other Nigerian winners: Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Tekno, and Patoranking, I wish to state that Patoranking deserve more winnings. I don't know how these results are populated but it isn't just fair in my eyes. Sorry my opinion is personal.

    i was so disappointed with some of the winners...Drake over Rih, Bey and Adele? Rubbish! Yeah, hes a sexy guy but c'mon it's not fair! Castor over Linda Ikeji? Thats madness!! I'm beginning to think Drump and Buhari's hand was init bc they "Respect (hate)women" and its a strong indication that those that voted those guys that won equally "Respects(hate) Women" the Buhari style! The whole thing was so fucked up! #timewasted. I'm proud of you, mama.
