Hadiza Buhari dismisses BBOG's allegations: 'No law prevents our organisation from assisting Chibok girls'

The Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative (AFRISEI) has debunked allegations of franchise infringement by the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) advocacy group.
The BBOG group via statement jointly signed by Aisha Yesufu and Oby Ezekwesili had dissociated itself from the fund-raising event organised by Hadiza Buhari-Bello, daughter of Nigeria’s president and founder of (AFRISEI)

The event tagged "Official Inauguration and Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Chibok Girls Endowment Project" held at the Peace Corps of Nigeria Headquarters, seeks to assist the recently released Chibok schoolgirls. While demanding an immediate retraction and unreserved apology from the organisers of the event, the BBOG also urged the general public to disregard attempts at linking the group to the event.
However, in a statement co-signed by Mrs Hadiza Buhari-Bello and Secretary of the NGO, Mr Onwuka Don Uche, they said that contrary to the allegations made by Yesufu and Ezekwesili, AFRISEI did not need to lean on the BBOG to be of service to the Chibok girls.
They maintained that they had no reason “to steal anything from BBOG or use its name to achieve any advantage,"
“The Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative has its own defined objectives and that it didn’t need to steal anybody’s ideas to operate in line with its own objectives’’.
While praising the activities of the BBOG to raise and sustain awareness about the plight of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls, the President’s daughter said that their organisation had broader objectives beyond the Chibok girls.
They said though the Chibok girls were within the priority of their organisation, their commitments to humanitarian causes did not end with Chibok schoolgirls.
“Given the size of the problem at hand, the more organisations we have assisting Chibok and other devastated communities, the better for the country,’’ they said.
According to them, as a charitable organisation, AFRISEI is committed to empowering the youth and the less privileged in the area of job creation and skill acquisition.
“It is also committed to supporting the education of the less privileged students, giving material support to the downtrodden; the internally displaced persons.
“AFRISEI is committed to educating the masses to discourage unhealthy practices such as child trafficking, child abuse, child labour and gender discrimination’’.
The AFRISEI president and secretary said there was no law that prevented their organisation from assisting the Chibok schoolgirls, adding that as a charity organisation, they offered help to people in distress, including the Chibok girls and the Boko Haram victims.
They noted that AFRISEI was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and issued certificate of incorporation on July 14, and hence would never engage in illegal activities by stealing someone else’s franchise.

    3. My blessed and humble sister, dont mind that silly Oby Ezekwesili. Anybody can help the chibok girls directly without passing through the BBOG committee. I even heard that Glo and MTN wants to assist them and the IDP camp. So is Oby Ezekwesili saying that Glo and MTN must pass through her before they can assist the girls? Abeg they should go and sit down. What about the soldiers that died in the processes to trying to rescue the chibok girls? What about the military men and federal government officials that were involved in the risky negotiations to release the girls from boko haram? Did they lay claims to the girls for helping them? So why should only BBOG be laying claims on the girls as if they are the only ones that worked towards their release? If BBOG has money in their treasury, they can as well help the girls just like other NGOs are doing. Nobody is stopping them. Nonsense!

    5. Anybody can help anybody. Any organistion can assist anybody directly. The chibok girls are not a piece of wood or commodity in the market that BBOG should just come and be claiming ownership of them. Fine, you helped to campaign for their release. Even Michelle Obama helped to campaign for their release too including Nigerians. UN also assisted greatly. The fact that Oby Ezekwesili was always in the TV making noise does not mean that others that were not in the media did not also campaign for the girls. What about Nigerians and the whole world at large that campaigned through social media? Did they lay claim on the welfare of the girls? Oby please allow people that are willing to help. Stop all these your over-zealous behaviour as if it is only your group that cares for the girls. Stmcheew

    7. It is only noise making that BBOG does. They should bring out money to help the girls. It is not by making unecessary noise. If you really want to help, carry guns and go to Sambisa forest to look for for the girls or bring out money to take care of the welfare of those already released. Action speaks louder than words and noise making!!!

    9. But i didnt see anywhere that Buhari's daughter's Charity organisation associated itself with BBOG or where they mentioned BBOG in their press statement of intention to help the chibok girl. So why the fuss?

    10. Any organisation that wants to help the chibok girls or those in IDP camp can go through the federal government just like UN does. I dont know about going through BBOG

  2. Instead of the groups to focus on the betterment of the girls, they are here fighting over jurisdiction and power.
It doesn't matter if the #BBOG were the ones who started this whole chibok campaign. What we are after is a better life for the girls which in my opinion doesn't matter where help is coming from.

    1. Another office created by the Buharis since first lady office is not happening. These Buhari's daughters should go and look for work and stop parading themselves seeking attention. Familiocracy indeed. They must head one NGO. We are waiting for the 3rd daughter and her own project. It happens when you have a lot of "kitchen and the other room" daughters doing nothing.

  5. If the name is not protected by law, i.e. hasn't been registered, there is no law forbidding its use.

The best gifts to give anyone are those that leave behind a memory. X-mas is around the corner, let the umbrella hat be part of the gifts you would give someone for Christmas...Surprise a family with customized umbrella hats which they can use while out on picnics and the likes. It is very affordable and a fun item.

If you own a School (Primary or Secondary) or you are an administrator in a School or a Section head or Head master/mistress, instead of the 'every year' coolers and flasks you pack for your pupils/students as Christmas gifts, why not contact us and let us help you customize your School name on the umbrella hats so you can give your pupils something new, refreshing and exciting for a start.
They would love the idea for sure.

The good thing about the Hands free umbrella hat is that it is for all age group and for all occasion so long as you use it appropriately. It can be worn under the sun and in the rain. Click on my name for more on this.

  8. I knew Oby Ezekwesili had a hidden agenda for all these shenanigans she has been involved in lately. Who gave her a franchise over Chibok? Is she from Chibok or the Queen of Chibok? Instead of seeking how to better the lives of the girls, she was busy fighting the Presidency. Now, someone else is doing the right thing, she is feeling threatened. The girls need HELP, not a FIGHT.

  9. Setting up NGOS like presidential libraries, is the new way of using public office to extort money. That this nonsense is going on all around Buhari shows how insincere he is about fighting corruption.

There are so many things available for you to do right now ,cos even ordinary Nigerian need help now I mean financial help n it will go a long way in helping this country n the people of this country will always be grateful ,after all the federal gov has taken up the responsibility of training dem ,so leave oby n BBog girls group.lf you don't no how to name the group I have a name already(Hadiza and Vicky's foundation, aka helping ordinary Nigerians )n you will never regret doing it

  15. This makes no sense. BBOG is the reason the world paid attention. They sit out everyday in Abuja in the rain and sun for almost 2years while you enjoyed A.C. Now some of the girls are found and you want to work on them to take credit? Fraud. You are suddenly an overnight activist abi? Go sit your fine ass down. If you want to do anything for chibok girls, go through the Federal Ministry or work with BBOG who worked to make this happen. Raise money and give to BBOG. They have proven their credibility and proven nay-sayers wrong. Stop trying to shine where you did not work.- Newyorker

    1. Their charity organisation is to give out money and help in their welfare. They dont need to fight. The military were the ones that fought for the release of the girls. Some soldiers even died in the process. BBOG did not fight. They were just noise makers. The people that really fought were the military.

@Julius Idowu You sure have a dumb brain. Cant you read? So, if somebody wants to help your father, the person must go through your father's palmwine group in the village just because your father belongs to a palmwine club? Nigerians can like to claim rights when it comes to money. BBOG only campaigned for the girls but they have never brought out one naira to assist the girls. Abeg make i hear word joor. Stmcheew
