MTN lays off over 1000 contract staff, reduces salaries of some to N40k from N120k

MTN has reportedly laid off some of its contract staff, particularly those that work at the telecommunications call centers. According to inside sources, many of them were given their disengagement letters yesterday, September 28th. Some of them that worked in their branch in Apapa, Lagos state, had their salaries reduced from N120,000 to N40,000 a month and were asked to continue working at their Ibadan office if they were still interested in the job. Sad news!

  5. Omg! I don't blame Mtn for this, i don't blame them one bit.. Buhari and his heartless partners in crime caused all this,, they brought all these hardship, laying off of workers and massive salary slash on the innocent masses. How the hell would they fine a private company 5 trillion naira knowing fully well that thousands of Nigerians are employed in the said company? For what?! Clueless political devils! .. God takeover!

    Na me talk am!

    2. Go and research and find out how much US govt fined british petroleum for oil spill some yrs back. So the govt should allow foreign companies to disobey the laws of the land and misbehave jst because they employ Nigerians? Smh

    3. You are the clueless one and you really need to do your research before you come out and display your ignorance. What has The present administration got to do with this? For your information they did this same thing last year before they were fined and before the election! And they were fined because they failed to disconnect unregistered lines!!! Use your brain often!

    1. You're insensitive, callous and densely stupid. Else, why place your advert under a post about people losing their jobs! Should they use the 40k to buy your shirts? Unless you've found a way to make your shirts vomit food or continuously shit money or convert itself to a house when the wearer chooses?

  20. Mtn handed the call center to Indians who presented the salary cut and relocation to the staff. This country is cursed. Can you imagine Nigerians running a call center of a major telecompany in India?

    ReplyDelete
  21. If only the government can stop witch-hunting companies that are coming to help them do their jobs. MTN will still sack more because they have to pay an unreasonable fine. Now the most corrupt senator in the person of Dino Melaiye is accusing them on fraud. MTN will now spend the money they will use to pay staff to bride senators and this is irrespective of if they are innocent or guilty cos in naija, anybody can be guilty if they want you to be

    ReplyDelete
  22. They make more than 70% of their revenue from Nigeria and treat us like crap.Bullshit ,I think Nigeria needs to reformulate the manner at which they allow foreign companies operate in Naija so as to avoid occurrences like this..
