Teachers in Akwa Ibom state hold fasting and prayer session over unpaid salaries, posting (photos)

Teachers in Akwa Ibom state today held a fasting and praying session at the Ibom Plaza in Uyo the state capital over the inability of the present administration to post them to schools where they can work. The teachers say they received appointment letters from the State Secondary Education Board(SUBEB) last year but with their appointment letters, they have not been posted to any school to teach.

Months after waiting for this administration to post them to schools so they can be gainfully employed, they decided to take their case to God so he can touch the heart of the state governor, Emmanuel Udom. The state governor has however insisted that the teachers who according to him are complaining are those with fake appointment letters.

    3. To think these people are supposed to be teaching kids! Now I see where religious bigots are trained from, praying for salary to be paid? TF? and they're supposed to be learned , educated and enlightened? Leave "God" to face important issues, and hold your politicians responsible for your...our predicament!

  10. In Abuja on Saturday, 10th December 2014 President Goodluck Jonathan said.the following: The choice before Nigerians in the coming elections is simple: A choice between going forward or going backwards, between the old ways and the new ways; between freedom and repression (Tyranny); between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms and desperate power-seekers with empty promises.

The Buharists and the “lying liars” are blinded by their hate for Jonathan. It is so bad that if their wives were made pregnant by another man they would say that it was Jonathan that was responsible. Yet their record of governance is clear and there for all to see.

As a candidate, Buhari appeared to recognize that revamping the economy had to be a priority. He made it a go-to talking point. He hammered on it at the hustings, always checking it off with the promise to fight corruption and arrest insecurity.

But in his earliest days in office, the economy was the last thing on his mind. The leisure of globe trotting was first. And he started to work his planes as soon as possible.

When Nigerians, alarmed that the intoxication of power may have made Buhari frivolous, asked him to sit down and work, he plagiarized Obasanjo: My world tour is a necessary charm offensive. Nigeria is a pariah state. I am traveling to reconcile Nigeria with the world

While he lived in the air, Buhari left Nigeria without direction and without a cabinet. He took six months purporting to look for the beautiful ones. Even in a fiction, that’s too long a period to run an amorphous government after a disruptive election that saw an opposition candidate win.

Naturally, that eternity of vacuum was filled with speculations and rumors. The market place was paralyzed. Investors and businessmen got edgy, confused and afraid. Because they were made to hedge their bets and wait forever for the new administration enunciate its economic policy, some took their capital elsewhere. The financial system reacted. And an epidemic of job losses began.

After one year and few months of this administration inefficiency and misconduct instead of Buhari and APC to accept their failure they are busy lying to Nigerians and think that by putting blames on Goodluck Jonathan regime and PDP will cover up the facts on ground for the interest of their party.

Let us call a spade a spade Nigerians because Bubari and APC are killing this nation with their clueless and visionless then taking us for granted.

    1. Shame!!! How could people think buhari knew better when he never provided, even his first school leaving cert? And we had a PhD holder as president then, what was people's criteria for choosing him? He's had a previous good experience as president of Nigeria or anywhere in the world or a graduate with a working experience anywhere? People don't reason at all!!!!!!! Even a politician, he's not. A NOTORIOUS JIHADIST, that's how everyone knew him but Nigerians voted him due to selfishness and tribalism. People can't eat their cake and have it. Hope this serves as a lesson to all Nigerians. Next time people'll check one's profile very well for experience, good record, good intention, good vision for all Nigerians equally and, educational qualification before voting and not listen to their selfish, greedy, money hungry, clueless elders/fake godfathers and their parties. A word is enough for the wise. #buharimuststepdown #buharinotfittobeNigerianpresident

  19. Not to diminish the plight of these teachers, but in a way this is all too hilarious: instead of them to organize a forceful group/representation to the governor's office/state house/whereever/whoever is connected to this evil, they are here screaming their lungs out. Truth be told, most of Naijas legislooters have hearts of stone not flesh. So, now that you've been reminded, go and organize, wella. Nawa-wa 4 black man development vision. QED@atm
