Ijaw indigenes flee Lagos and Ogun states after the alleged ultimatum given by ROPC to vacate the states

Due to the alleged ultimatum given by the Reformed Odua Peoples Congress, ROPC to Ijaw indigenes who live in Lagos and Ogun states to leave these states, a lot of Ijaws have started relocating to the South South for fear of being attacked. The ultimatum was allegedly given to the Ijaws due to attacks by unknown gunmen in parts of Lagos and Ogun states
Spokesperson of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Eric Omare, who confirmed the developments to Vanguard said:
"At as Sunday morning (yesterday), information at our disposal indicates that some Ijaw people resident in Lagos and Ogun states, for fear of attack, are already relocating from their places of residence to the South-South.”
However, the IYC, however, said that the ROPC members and the leaders of the Yoruba nation should allow the police do their jobs by apprehending criminals responsible for the Ogun and Lagos attacks.

In regrds to the situation at Kaiama and the fact that people are relocating due to the fear of the Adaka Boro Avengers, Omare said:
“We call on residents of Kaiama town to be calm and go about their normal activities. There is no plan by the Ijaw people to declare a republic and the threat by Adaka Boro Avengers should be disregarded.
“We wish to warn groups and individuals not to further expose Ijaw and Niger Delta communities to unnecessary tension and danger. They should not abuse modern means of information technology to the detriment of our communities by issuing unnecessary threats and ultimatums.
“We call on security agencies to stop forthwith the unnecessary threats and attacks on Ijaw and other Niger Delta communities because of threats by faceless groups. They should check issues of security with the leadership of Ijaw nation instead of threatening or attacking innocent communities and people,” he added.

  5. Ijaws are misled by the greedy warlords and kleptomaniac politicians among them. They believe that their Epesu can shield them from bullets. If they want violence let them be prepared for the law. They pollute their water ways with excrement drink and cook from the same water. The pollute their fish habitats with Oil Spill and they expect FG to clean it up? Life is not like that. They must mend their way. MEND IS NOT EMANCIPATING ANYBODY. I am from the Niger Delta

  16. Very very wrong, what if the Ijaws also tell the Yorubas all over the South South to leave? As a matter of fact the Yorubas occupy some of the juiciest positions in the oil companies, this thing should be handled with care or else the innocent once will suffer must.

  18. This is how it starts. What is the president doing about this situation? meeting should be called and people be appeased please. If an Ijaw man cannot live in any part of the country because of fears of being attacked, they can as well declare Ijaw nation which could lead to something I don't want to spell because I dread that word.

    God save Nigeria.

  19. Isnt this how the civil war started. In the case of igbos, because a few igbo army guys plotted a coup which was even avenged. The people started killing igbos in thousands, even in Lagos. Shooting people bearing igbo names in Lagos airport. Hunting igbos down in their houses and sheds. Raping their women. Gowon refused to talk. Igbos decided to go home and declare their own republic in peace but they were threatened to return back. Nigerian then declared war on them and killed them in thousands.

Pls, if there is an alternative story, feel free to share it. Especially yorubas who insult us and call us all sorts. Tell me, what were they to have done. Sit back and get killed in hausa and yoruba land?
So. If ijaws decide to seize their oil and build dier own country, d same yoruba will call them selfish and ask that military should decimate them.

Why do yorubas always stand on the side of injustice and behave like cowards? (I mean, the majority)

YORUBA PEOPLE ARE PATHETIQUE. They NEVER EVER threatened the Hausa-fulani after the bloody tragedies of Mile 12 in Lagos and the burning down of a yoruba market in Ekiti by the Hausa-Fulani.

Now, they are after INNOCENT unarmed Ijaw CIVILIANS for a supposed deed of a few Niger-Deltans who may NOT all be Ijaws.

  23. so the ijaws can talk now, when the people were been killed and kidnapped, you people were sleeping abi? even the commissioner for police attached to Lagos state Mr Fatai Owoseni said the yorubas accommodated the ijaws and didnt report them then, why are they complaining now. The Redeemed pastor that was kidnapped is yet to be release due to the ransom they are asking for. now that we dont want them around us,you are complaining. Do you know what people are going through in this neighborhood? landlords and tenants not be able to sleep in peace with fear of been kidnapped, raped or killed and some leaving their homes in the evening to look for where to sleep then come back in the morning to prepare for the next day work. Did govt give holidays to the dispalced people? a grandmother was raped in the presence of her grandchildred, she died the next day, will that family pray for them or curse them. please let us leave sentiment aside and be truthful to ourselves. if they want to fight the govt, they know where they live and their offices, they should go there and attack them and not innocent people that are struggling to make ends meet in this harsh economy.
