'Threats of assassination by deranged Avengers couldn't have been the reason for PMB's cancelled visit' - Sen. Shehu Sani

Referring to the Niger Delta Militants (avengers) as deranged, Senator Shehu Sani took to his Facebook page today to debunk reports that President Buhari cancelled his trip to Ogoniland out of fear of the threats made by the group.

  2. For the first time, I'm reading something positive from this man. He's right though. To think PMB cancelled his visit out of fear is not only delusional but clear misinformation. If a civilian like Jonathan could visit Borno amidst scare of bombing, I see no reason why an ex general would fear the avengers. It's not that easy to kill the C in C.

    2. Idiot, keep on deceiving yourself and your generation. Even with the 100 military gunboat around Chevron Pipeline, Avengers still bombed it talk more of hw many security men. Let him come out and tell us his reasons for cancelling it, after all he hardly send the VP to handle such matters.

    3. You know...I actually thought it was quite reasonable if he cancelled his trip to niger delta cos of security threat. Even if he isn't scared, his life isn't indispensable. But since y'all are saying he didn't cancel it cos of security threats, the alternatives are what? We haven't seen him cancel foreign trips on a whim before.

    4. And no matter how skilled you are, you cannot outrun a bomb- the most likely weapon of choice for the miscreants. I'm infinity percent sure that we don't even have what it takes to detect a bomb on time, talk more of detonating it.

    5. But he cancelled his trip to Lagos even when there was no threat to his life. He might have cancelled it for peace sake cos if he had gone and they dare make any attempt, hell will be let losssed in Nigeria that day. May God continue to protect him and all of us.

  5. so you are free to say Mr. Senator, but we are talking about a threat to the President of a country; assuming he visited and they carried out the threats; besides, he was to fly to Rivers State, where will his plane pass through; obviously the creeks of the Niger Delta where these criminals are hiding; our territories are to porous for the security forces to cordoned, so i believe it was a wise decision for him to cancelled his commissioning the project personally; besides, the VP is very much the President, so i dont really see all hullabaloo about PMB going there himself; less fast forward our discussion to more better things ahead

    1. You are right Ekpo but remember no one knows who was in d plane, whether d presido himself or d VP. They would have bomb d VP as well. Those threats were nothing but empty threats.

  12. I believe the Senator's reference to the Niger Delta Avengers as "deranged", poses a potential threat to himself and his loved ones by creating an unnecessary attention. He could clearly have made his point without using such a derogatory word unfitting for a "distinguished" senator. Our Leaders must always appear to be sensitive to the plight of all regions, especially the Niger Delta. The fact that the Avengers have focused mainly on the destruction of pipelines and oil wells rather than kidnapping and killing should not be taken for granted. We have witnessed "deranged" people who have have killed, raped, molested, kidnapped and abused other citizens in this country while still rejecting any offers for an amnesty or negotiations for a truce; some of them have carried out these actions against members of their own tribes and religion, for no justifiable cause. I believe that there needs to be a dialogue between the Avengers and the Nigerian Government; for they just might have a common goal after all. Imagine if the might and determination of these people was transformed into a force for security and prosperity of the Niger Delta and the Country as a whole. The Government MUST weigh the cost of the politics of exclusion of strategic regions against the potential cost of destruction and obliteration of the entire country.

  15. How is it a crime for a group of people to seek autonomy from a country they no longer wish to be a part of?
Pres. Buhari should allow a referendum be carried out to quell this issue once & for all.
No Government in the World can win a guerilla warfare; Note: not even the USA. Britian only just recently, carried out a referendum for the Scottish people who clamored for it (the UK has been in existence for centuries)..
This Naija sef is fast becoming a joke.
Dear Pres. Buhari, a word of advise for you. You are already old so look for ways to meet your creator & in good conscience defend your actions on earth, if good or bad.
Also as a gentle reminder, do not forget that there is still an ICC; the Genocide trial bound to come after all of these might not go in your favour.. This little ant you want to quash/crush might just as well be the cause of your downfall not to talk about the disintegration of the Nigeria.
It is high time you understand certain regions have no wish to remain in this union named Nigeria

  16. I for one, I'm tired of hearing about how this man fought the civil war; FYI, he did not fight the war because he was brimming with the milk of human kindness, so enough with it already! Granted, he was not afraid of the so-called Avengers, but that was an important PR moment he lost right there.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mr senator if you're not afraid maybe you should go to the niger delta after making this stupid statement. Buhari fought nigeria civil war abi? Was both sides fighting the war equal in numbers and weapons? Did the biafrans have sophisticated weapons like the ones the avengers brandish now? So use ur head and stop placing a man above his capabilities

  19. So a people asking for fair treatment are deranged, right? Mr. man, your blood sucking brothers are only into this one-Nigeria thing for the resources which your co-traveler in ethnic bigotry - the president himself, admitted to. In 50 year's time the Niger Delta might be ridden by natural disasters. By then, you god-forsaken, lying, thieving, cheating parasites have finished siphoning all the resources and retreated to your dusty holes. And it is that time you will declare you are not interested in any one-Nigeria. So, respectfully sir, YOU are the deranged one.

  20. mr shehu na blood dey work everybody, no be fuel or water dey inside our body. For d british and American intelligence to tell him not to go there, then there must be a reason and credible intelligence to show that his life was in danger if he went there even with a full presidential Brigade

  27. Gregory Ogbili... there is no use begging the president. the militants that want to break up should try it. They are not bigger than Nigeria...why was it not ripe enough to go on their own during the Jonathan regime, why wait till Buhari's regime. Nothing will come out of the ICC, if the ants were crushed while carrying out this economic sabotage

  28. The Niger Delta Avengers are not deranged. See? Someone is paying them to force Oil Price to go up after everything had failed including Buhari's fruitless begging of Saudi Arabia. All insurgencies and terrorist actions are a racket. Has anyone noticed that there has also been a fall in the US Oil production? There is enough inventory and strategic reserves in the U.S to defend low Oil Price but they are not releasing it. Has anyone noticed the simultaneous rioting in Venezuela? People are pushing buttons to frustrate Saudi Arabia. Higher Oil Price is good for the whole world. The pump price never went down by much in several countries. Can you understand why Nigeria increased pump price? Because Crude Oil Price was about to also go up and governments does not want that Fuel Subsidy Wahala. The Niger Delta Avengers are are working for the FG. See ?!?

  30. Revisit the National Confab.
Start from there. Was IPOB dead when the National Confab was organized? Where was Nmamdi Kanu at that time? He collected Naira from illiterate Traders exchanged if for illegal Biafran Currency, changed the Naira to Euros and shared it with David Cameron who issued him with British Passport. Then in jubilation of his great breakthrough Cameron celebrated the partnership by declaring Nigeria as a fantastically corrupt country. It was not an insult. It was a huge celebration of people like Kanu and Alison Madueke with whom the British establishment were business partners.
