Man is forced to pay child support for his ex-wife's new baby because he never divorced her when he left 16 years ago

An Iowa man named Joe Vandusen is protesting a law that requires him to pay child support for an ex-wife he hasn't sent set eyes on in 16 years all because when he left then, he didn't divorce her. Below is how it was reported...
“We’ve had no contact whatsoever in 16 or 17 years, and the child just turned one year old,” Vandusen said.

But by law, Joe is still legally responsible, and the state and its Child Support Recovery Unit are telling him he had better pay up.
“I explained to her this is not my child. I’m willing to do a paternity test and she flat out told me it does not matter, you’re legally married to her. You’re going to pay child support,” Vandusen said.
The couple broke up but were never divorced, and Iowa law and many other states require husbands to pay child support for any child born during the marriage.
“I think it’s wrong, it shows Iowa needs to change their laws,” said Vandusen, who has two biological children and is helping to raise two non-biological children with his current girlfriend of five years.

  5. These is wrong on all level. Paying support for the child because they never really divorced is like saying he should look after someone else child when he is not the father of that child. And come to think of it, he lives in an area with such law and he never did the right thing when he had the chance to divorce her and safe himself from this mess

  9. It Is universal like law. If you are married a woman and you are not living together because of one problem you have to divorce her right away other wish a child she has still your child so if you are sleeping with such women be careful
