Omotola calls out PHCN, Lagos state government over taxes

In a series of tweets this afternoon, actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, berated the services of PHCN in the Ikeja area of Lagos. She also took a swipe at the Lagos state government over the new Tax law where everyone including domestic staff are to pay taxes. She feels the government doesn't do enough to demand taxes. See more of her tweets after the cut...

    1. The suffering is now too much. Haba! No light, no fuel,no water, no money...things have gone from bad to worse. I queued for many hours yesterday to buy fuel at 200 naira per litre. Got home no light. Petrol attendants dont sell in kegs anymore. For d past 3 weeks no light... No water. Using pure water bags to shower. Its frustrating .

  20. Nigerians put with up all kind of rubbish, moaning will not change anything in the country. A country where a man is beaten to death for pocket picking, and politicians use state funds to celebrate their children's wedding. If people decide not to pay bills for electricity not supplied, they will go burst. Direct action is urgently needed to stop the drastic slide into the abyss. Democracy will not solve the country's problem. What we need is a benevolent dictator that will tackle the mountain of problem head on. We don't need a Presidential system, it's waste of money, and it encourages corruption.

  50. No be small my sister. Everything in this country is getting high, why salary is dormant. We can't fight them what we need is God's intervention. They promised us change instead of them to fulfil their promise. they start giving us excuses.

We do need to start speaking up like this. This politicians thinks Nigerians are fools because we allow them to get away with everything they do. Well you know what i am pushed enough is enough we have not had light in our area in Gwarimpa, Abuja for 1 month and they it's being rationed. I am ready to stand up and fight. Let's all revolt against phone. What rubbish!!!!

  52. We are not ready yet, when we already, we will occupy all these offices and send them packing . I see sandhurst of revolution raging their part to raze this state. Ambode is just a fool . What amenities do you give to people? You will tax the income of those living in Makoko too? Are you senseless and heartless? Teetotallers have become drunks just to invoke amnesia on their despair.

  58. All nigerian youths think about is gossip and social media status. Ppl who have the capacity to fight our battles are busy taking selfies and pictures up and down. No one has ever hit the streets in peaceful protests against phcn, no work, notin, everyone stays home then we will see who will generate money for the govt or phcn. But all we do is complain, smile, still pay the phcn, come back to darkness and take selfies

  59. Paid vs. payed

Paid is the standard past tense and participle of pay. Payed was historically used for the nautical senses of pay and in the phrasal verb pay out where what’s payed out is rope. The form still appears occasionally, but paid now prevails even in payed‘s traditional uses.
