Controversial Gap kids ad: Last year, a white girl was a prop for a black girl

Gap found itself at the centre of controversy after releasing an ad featuring four young girls. In the ad, a tall white girl is pictured resting her arm on the black girl's head. The ad received criticisms and backlash from social media users who described it as "racially insensitive" and "passive racism"

The American clothing company has issued an apology and replaced the photo with another of four young girls. However, another ad released last year features a black girl leaning on a white girl.(pictured above) Surprisingly, there was no social media backlash.

      I am sure the blacks that criticised the pictures now look foolish after they showed a picture released last year for advert where a black girl also rest her arm on a white girl. Sometimes we blacks overdo things. Truth be told.

    I read a lot of the comments I just laughed because majority of you people have not even left the shore of Africa .The once that have left went on only visitation maximum 1month so I can't blame u because you have not experienced racism .     no. the two pictures are not the same.
    don't just look at the gesture. look at body language. the first pic the black girl looked meek appearing like a stool or stand for the white girl. background people look independent but black girl looks sheepish.

    in the second on they made the white girl look strong with her legs opened wide. all the people in the background look fierce all equal.

    both pictures do not depict the same thing fact
