The theme for
the conference, ‘Pledge for Parity,’ intends
to develop and inspire female entrepreneurs in their respective pursues to
leave their mark in an otherwise, male-dominated sector. Participants will have
the opportunity of being mentored by seasoned speakers which include Mrs Mosun
Belo-Olusoga (Chairperson, Access Bank
PLC); Oreoluwa Somolu-Lesi (Executive
Director, W.TEC); Hajjiya Aisha Babaginda (Chairman, Better Life for Rural Women, Nigeria). Others are Hon
Lolade Akande (Commissioner for Women
Affairs, Lagos State); Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson ( APC Women Leader); Mrs
Funke Egbemode (Founder, Mummy's
Integrated Farms Ltd); Mosun Umaru (Founder,
Harvesters Farms Ltd); Adanma Onuegbu (CEO,
Signal Alliance)
Speaking on the
need for the conference, Charles Odii, (Executive
Director, SME 100 Nigeria) said ‘the
workplace gender parity is high globally and women needed to be empowered in
these three areas. The drive of the organization is to encourage women to
participate in the areas of politics, agriculture and technology thereby
creating a multiplier effect in the society.’
This
first-of-its-kind conference is open to all Nigerians women and will double
as the launch of its 2016 Empowerment Training programme where a total of
1000 women will be trained over the course of the calendar year in various
vocations.
