PDP deputy national chairman Uche Secondus releases statement on his invite by EFCC

Read the statement below..
On Tuesday 23rd February, I honoured an invitation from the EFCC to clarify issues related to an ongoing investigation by EFCC. They confronted me with allegations of receiving some cars from Mr. Jide Omokore who has been my friend for over 20 years.
I admitted to them that Mr. Jide Omokore has given me car gifts on several occasions in the last 10 years for my personal use.

I want to state categorically that what I received from my friend, Jide Omokore were cars and buses supplied by a well-known car company, Skymit Motors apparently from a credit facility Mr Omokore has with the company. I don’t have any knowledge of the so-called transaction the investigators are alleging he had with NNPC.

Against this background, it is most disheartening that the facts of the matter under investigation have been grossly misrepresented in the media, apparently under inducement by some political opponents in the APC particularly, a Minister from Rivers State.

This is in line with the strategy of the ruling Party to hide under the anti-corruption fight to humiliate the leadership of our Party.

I have been granted bail under very stringent conditions after 8 days in detention. Since the EFCC did not establish any case against me, I find my needless detention a clear case of witch-hunt and pure political persecution that has become a stock in trade of the APC government.

My immediate concern is the denial of the fundamental human rights, excessive physical incarceration and the orchestrated negative media campaign completely skewed against those being investigated.

Nevertheless, I hereby restate my confidence in the rule of law and the relevant institutions for the resolution of this matter on its merit in the interest of justice.

Signed:
Prince Uche Secondus
Deputy National Chairman, PDP

You thought he was dashing you those cars without a quid pro quo consideration? If one man can corner all this largesse, what is left for his people? Nigerian officials fear God...

  25. Rosie Said........In as much i applaud the efcc for the job they are doing, but its about time the Buhari/APC led government focus on governining this great nation and moving the economy foward. The government and the economy of Nigeria should not depend on the money that it will get out of politicians. This government needs to have a plan, for all intents and puroposes, they dont seem to have any. we have first class economists and financial gurus, put them to work and lets make Nigeria again........Enough of all these fooling around with efcc!!

  30. I think the bone of contention should be if he stole our common wealth. Not who gifted him cars or for what reason. meanwhile I don't seem To understand how his arrest has affected the daily increase in commodities I'm experiencing as a common Nigerian.

  32. Well, what do you expect from Buhari and the APC, since, they can not keep their of
    1) fuel selling for #45 per/liter
    2) one dolar equals to one naria
    3) free school meal for every primary and secondary school students
    4) 5000 monthly payment to every unemployed youth in Nigeria
    5) free heath care pregnant and the elderly
    etc
They will definetely have no choice than to continue their P-R-O-P-A-N-G-A-D-A. This people came to without defined intention or direction on how to help the Nigeria economy and the people. May God help us.

  33. Does Buhari know how the people that gave APC campaign vehicles funded them? Does he know how the person that gave his wife the watch funded it? Or how the people that are giving his kids suv's paid for them? Does Osinbajo know how Tinubu that dashed him his personal abode in Lagos paid for it? Hypocrites Buhacrites and Osinbaliars

  34. Now to all those that are misinterpreting Prince Secondus statement. Let me give you the facts in another senario. I am a member of a political party and you are a business man.You need connections to the government officials for some business and I introduced you to people as my friend. In return to appreciate me you give me car gifts over a 3 year span . Is there anything wrong with that. You people should please be honest to yourselves and stop insulting the man. Some of you if you were there you would take more than car. Jide Omokere has been his friend since the 90's. They go way back they have had business dealings outside anything political way before the civilian government.Secondus has never held government office .He isn't a full time politician he is also a business man. It would also interest you to know that Jide hasn't even paid for the cars as it on a credit facility Jide Omokere has with Skymit. You APC faithfuls have failed to look at what is important in the life of the common man. We are unable to get essential commodity for the right price, the government is unable to deliver on its campaign promises yet people are being arrested unjustly. Even military Generals who have served our country are being treated unfairly. The President Buhari even benefited from this same car gift Nigerians don't forget. Why hasn't he been invited by EFCC since the Anti-Corruption campaign is free and fair. Nigerians please be wise I beg.Seek wisdom from who or whatever you believe in. Feel free to be bitter over my comment but I have identified the elephant in the room.
