Man steals from church offering box

A suspect identified as Kingsley was accused of stealing from the church offering box of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ejigbo, Lagos, and has been arrested. The church’s private guards on Tuesday stopped and searched him and recovered N5,000, which he allegedly stole from him.It is alleged that Kingsley had earlier been arrested for the same offence.

It is gathered that after the morning mass on Tuesday, Kinglsey stayed behind after everyone else had left the church building and pretended he was praying by himself. It further gathered that he went to the offering box, dipped a glue coated stick and dipped inside the box and took money out.

Unbeknownst to him, a security guy had seen him dipping th stick insde the offertory which was what made them stop him then searched and recovered the money.

The suspect said he committed the offence because he had to take care of his pregnant wife.

    Its obvious the man needs to meet a very urgent need....as much as I do not support stealing the church should pardon him cos of the intention behind his crime and provide him with a church probably in the church premises..People are suffering and smiling in this country..how long will this continue?

    The church should forgive him as they preach and rehabilitate him, deliver him from the spirit of poverty as a true "BROTHER'S KEEPER". It is unfair that people have to go hungry in church while Pastors constantly show off material wealth and power that came from the poor and their widow's mite.
    It is time we as a people stop focusing on the EFFECT and look at the CAUSE and be objective and truthful to ourselves.
    The Apostles shared the wealth of the church equally so that none would lack. Even the rich partook and had equal share with the poor. It was never meant for one man or one organization.
