See this one, be there yarning rubbish, don't focus on ur marriage...
Everybody be defending their friends and loved ones and staling our judicial process....from Ebinabo to this one...all of a sudden u all are d voice of d judiciary....
What happens when you try to help a friend put food on the table. Me I won't assist any friend by involving the person in my business or family member but will raise money for you to start your thing.
How do u know he's innocent u fool... Lekki Garden is popularly know to use substandard products for their building..the fact they sealed that place before doesn't makes any sense to u abi!! U are mad..what I pray for all of you supporting this man is that may your family members die in a similar building collapse. Maybe then u ll know the value of human life....
A building was marked defective cos of substandard materials. Meanwhile its structural base is weak. Pls Madame basket mouth i jst need u to knw tht such type of building is always demolished and not repaired.
I am an Engr. Please tell me, how do u explain the poor jobs done in most of the other Lekki Gardens buildings? I worked on 1,water sips in from the foundation.
It's the same with most new houses these days. I lived in friend's colony when it was just built. Alot of houses caught fire because of faulty wiring. We had water marks on our walls from the foundation. When it rains, you can't leave your house. It's not just lekki Gardens, it's most new houses of nowadays.
I am an Engr. Please tell me, how do u explain the poor jobs done in most of the other Lekki Gardens buildings? I worked on 1,water sips in from the foundation.
You must be stupid for indirect protecting the internet the Nyong,do you know sorrow that the incident had caused to the victim family and Nigeria at large? Let justice prevail but don't come out to say nonsense
Obeni, justice prevails so true. But will the poor man who triedto repair the building be punished for the wrong of the people who stayed there knowing fully well the state of the building. Think critically not rationally.
You actually calling yourself stupid......three questions , was he the contractor? Did you read where he was as notified abt the sun standard goods n he called for a new constitution company? Lastly, if he was Yoruba will you be spewing out hatred? stop embarrassing yourself.
Hmm! People online believe the house was already completed and it was the tenants that got killed in the collapse. Whoa! So it was laborers sleeping their illegally that got killed? A lot of people have been fighting for this Richard guy online today. I guess he really must be a good guy that got into a bad situation. I wish him all the best.
What is she on about ? May ur house collapse so u understand d magnitude of this case! And may u and ur entire family be in it 2!!!!! What rubbish! Have u gone to see what he is doing at d 3 flat at Chevron IDIOT!!!! Any 1 that supports this evil, may Evil befall them!!!!! I blame u, u don abandon Saraki RUNS marry dey talk rubbish!!!! Bastard oshi
May God forgive you for all the rubbish you say. This is one case gone bad and of they'll truly let justice prevail, this man will win. The house was not being built. Work had stopped in the house. Miscreants were sleeping there. It collapsed. No work was being done in the house.
Why calling black white? The worker that NEMA rescued were all kitted on health & safety equipment. For your information, work was going on at the time d building collapsed. Buy one and get free don yawa.
Are you by any means saying that work was not currently being carried out on the building? We are aware that most of the workers in the building were not Nigerians. What provision did Lekki gardens make for their accommodation? If your claim is right, should it not be the responsibility of Lekki gardens to ensure the entrance doors were sealed.

Mr. Austin please note that the job was awarded to an independent contractor who is responsible for every single detail. Lekki gardens cannot be held responsible because as at the time of this unfortunate incident the building had not been concluded and handed over so who really should be blamed. The contractor or Mr . Richard? You should also give Mr Richard some credit for showing up when summoned. He is innocent. In all, we know this involved a lot of lives and we pray that God grants them rest and also console the families they left behind. Please be guided by the facts and don't be too quick to judge.
the Truth IS THAT THE BUILDING COULD HAVE COLLAPSED AT ANY HOUR.
SO MRS BASKET MOUTH, SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU DUMMY. YOU TOO JUST WANT TO OPEN MOUTH AND TALK ON SOCIAL MEDIA. EMPTY HEAD, AS YOU NO GET BRAIN
IF YOUR BREADWINNER CALLED BASKET MOUTH HAD DIED AMONG THE 35, WHETHER YOU WILL BE TALKING. THE IDIOT CALLED RICHARD NYONGIO HAD BEEN WARNED, AND HE EVEN SACKED THE ENGINEER WHO ADVISED HIM NOT TO GO BEYOND 3 FLOORS
God bless you. I can't believe Elsie made this comment. Granted the man may be innocent, but The time the building collapsed is immaterial . You could have been driving by at 2pm on a sunny afternoon an the building will come down. Common sense ain't common sha
This is exactly the problem with us Nigerians, nobody is willing to take responsibilities, this is real sad.As the CEO,he should accept responsibility and bear the consequences of the failed project that collapsed. After all he has been taking all the credit for the other buildings.
Please respect the dead. It's not your field and you know nothing about engineering. In fact your story make no sense. How do you repair major structural defect on a building? Pls limit your contribution to nollywood, where you belong
I really wonder why the man is being held. Did he pull the house down? Well bad Belle people go follow dey chuk eye for the case dey make things worse. I pray justice gets served properly. He should be set free.
Please respect the dead. It's not your field and you know nothing about engineering. In fact your story make no sense. How do you repair major structural defect on a building? Pls limit your contribution to nollywood, where you belong

Was that the only uncompleted building where laborers slept, is that going to stop other laborers from repeating same. Even if he knew, do you think he prayed for such incident to have happened. An independent contractor was fully responsible for seeing to the completion of the building. If this incident happened after the building was completed and handed over you can then blame Mr Richard so pls know tour facts.
Na lie jor. How about other buildings that this wicked man removed the roof and added 2 more floors? Why did another building collapse in another of his estates? Akpabio cannot save him this time. 35 dead people is not a joke.
Nigerians and pushing blame. Who is the Managing Director? Mr Richard! The fact that he was aware sub-standard materials were used, the building should have been brought down. End of.
I do not wish him bad, however, playing the blame game is just silly. The labourers were there to continue work in the morning, meaning there was no intention to demolish the building as you claimed Mrs Okparacha Bright. Get off Instagram and stop sounding like an educated illiterate!
Mrs basketmouth everything u said only implicates richard the more awarding a contract to an incompetent contractor is whose fault? The govt sealed the building and they removed the seal and continued working who shd govt hold rezponsible? Labourers were sleeping in a place where ghey are not supposed to be who has the ultimate responsibility? Answer to all is richard either he is not untop of his job or also incompetent
Elsie the heavy olodo in class in unilag. She is too dumb to write this type of English. Very sure someone typed this for her or the write up was sent to her. Dumb fuck! Ur family member is not involved that's y u ve mouth to talk.
Perhaps she didn't see the news that said the building was not approved to be 5 storeys but they blatantly disregarded that and even unsealed it after the relevant agencies sealed it. You don't think building it up to 5 storeys was a part of the reason it collapsed. And when he knew the materials used for the building was substandard, why build it above the approved number of floors? But let's give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't know this......... what action did he take to make sure no one was sleeping in the building? It's the company rules. Agreed. But when those rules are violated, did he take any action or was he ignorant of it or was he just negligent because he didn't see the tragedy of the building collapsing coming? In a nutshell, if due process had been followed, from sticking with the approved plan to making sure his company laws are properly enforced, the loss of lives would have been awarded. Innocent? DEFINITELY NOT!!!
It is quite sad that the building at Lekki Gardens had to collapse. It is even more unfortunate that so many people had to die. However, I picked something from the write up. The writer said Richard Nyong is innocent. So, my question is, Innocent of what? Is it that he is not the MD of the company or the particular building was not his project? Was he not aware that the building was defective? And if indeed he knew the building was defective, was the area quarantined to present access? If the Company policy says that labourers should not sleep in the buildings, was he not aware the policy was being violated? Even if he wasn't aware, in a case that the building has collapsed, who should be held responsible? I think Nigerians need to be realistic and stop being emotionally sentimental about issues. There are building control regulations governing development of real estate and I think they should be seriously adhered to as non-adherence have grave consequences (such as this as in this case). Building has collapsed, environment has been decimated, people have died and the Law has been violated. I think the Law should take it's natural cause. In any case, if this was an unpopular person, the full weight of the Law would be released in full force. While I stand on the side of the Law, I wish Lagos and Nigeria well!
What is she talking about? Lekki Gardens doesn't have supervisory unit? No quality control? Padi-padi/friend contractors? I don't get it. If he is innocent who then is guilty, the poor labourer that took refuge in the building? Madam next time read thru ur write up the second time
Does that contradict Lagos State position that the company violated the approved number of floors? How about all the other sites that occupants and buyers have been complaining about as defective. Better keep basket mouth to comedy. There is no comedy about lost life.
And whAt if the building collapsed at 10 in the morning is it not the same. Or buildings don't collapse during the day. So far they are still working there after they discovered the materials are sub standard it's their fault.
Basket mouth wife should shut up.so laborers are not meant to stay beyond 6pm so wat if d place was completed and the owners move in u will tell dem not to stay beyond 6pm rubbish talk
All of this would be all well and good if there was an established pattern of mismanagement, shoddy and substandard work, and substandard materials at Lekki Garden developments. Look it up on Nairaland; there is a 16-page (and growing) thread called "Lekki Gardens Is it Genuine?" and see how owners and residents complain. Mr Nyong blatantly cut corners in order to maximise profit and with minimal concerns for quality safety, or any care or concern for the buyers he now seems to care for. He jeopardised the safety of people not only on this estate but in others. He has done the same building extension not only in this estate but in all the others as well. However, he has paid people off at the local governments, and may have made SIGNIFICANT political donations, so don't be surprised if this all disappears off the radar.
What a lame excuse! Going by her recount, there were catalog of mistakes made on this project. So I'm afraid the buck stops with him... and no amount of defence will absolve him from his inactions.
Linda and everyone here. I think this Elsie's post isn't a sincere one. I responded to her post on IG and gave my personal experience on the short practices of this Lekki gardens ppl (no insult, just personal experience) and this lady deleted my post in less than a minute. While I was wondering what happened to my post (1st time someone has deleted my post) I saw other ppl's post come in and disappear all of a sudden. This lady was on a deleting spree, any post exposing real issues with Lekki gardens was instantly deleted. Even subscribers expressing issues with new houses delivered by Lekki Gardens... Really sad sha, but anyway it's her page so she can use it to sell their market and mislead the public if she so wishes. So me sef I'm taking a screen shot of this one just in case you don't post it
She is an uneducated unexposed Nigerian product blinded by blood money shared by that criminal In all cases of deaths as a result of an occupational hazard, the MD or CEO is liable. I cannot even deal with the level of ignorance on this issue.
Elsie people died. Not goats. You ask why did they stay at a construction site? Are you so dull? They were being exploited and the little wages they were getting was not paid.
An employer should not expose workers to unreasonable risk. The building was an accident waiting to happen,
I think this so called friends of Richard need mental revaluation ,just because he has been able to make them own a 3 bedroom flats on the island doesn't mean we should hide away from the truth ,The MD as a professional ought to have taken precaution on that building since it was still under construction and their own rules says no one is allowed to stay in the build ,finish at 6pm then resume at 8am . its their responsibilities making sure everyone leaves , Besides i think the body responsible for property safety should take blame because according to them, the building was already marked for demolition why didn't they seal it up and ask everyone to leave or no activity must take place their again ? As for Lagos state government with two faced ,why is the guy been treated like a criminal when the same offence was committed by TB Joshua and he was never handcuff neither was he even present in court .
Its a Lil bit different sir, TB Joshua is the client, Lekki Gardens is the contractor. TB Joshua paid someone like Lekki Garden to build his guest House. He's not an engineer. He's still not absorbed of all blame dou. He should still face some jail time dou.
You're making matters worse madam. So truly sub standard materials were used? Whether he knew or not he still must take responsibility for the fail as HE gave the contract initially to his friend. The fact that the building collapsed while workers were there illegally is not that material because truth be told it could have collapsed at 5pm or 9am the following day or 10am... If workers weren't there at 3am granted the building would have collapsed without any casualties, possibly. However the project was badly executed that is the crux of the matter. And I am a 100% sure the management was very aware the workers stayed there. They probably encouraged it being that it meant they could work later into the day and resume work very early. End of story.
First of all Mrs basketmouth, never knew you were this empty upstairs. Who encouraged u on this write up that's if u wrote it urself. Pls go read up their official statement and maybe u will put that post down. I can see how real your struggle is " I must be known"
Mrs basketmouth look at your reasoning. You won't be saying all of these if your family member was involved. At this ur mentality, I pity for basketmouth. When na gate man and driver de go market to buy food stuffs for you. Useless thing trying to be relevant.better go back to unilag and complete your programme.
Shut up, silly fool. That is why some of the rescued had their hard hats on. Were they sleeping with their hats? Probably working into the night. What was his excuse for building on an already defective building? Was he not supposed to tear it down and rebuild? Obviously he was trying to patch up. Your friend does not seem so innocent
So if d building collapsed during working hours what did be his excuse? Ask for justice for those who died not for people who didn't do their job well. Is he not supposed to check the projects he handles and make sure proper and adequate materials are being used. Aunty e be like say he give u beta discount for the house wey u but.😈
True word@elsieokpocha....I second that cos that's Nuffin Buh the truth.....Some of us are so blind to the truth, justice must prevail and may the departed souls rest in peace...Amen
And your point is? A defective building ought to have no human being in it. Simple. Your write up has only proved that your friend Richard was negligent and selfish.
Did she say he's innocent? Woman please...there's something we call precarious liability in law. This her post is embarrassing and lacks intelligence. If it was against company policy why did the company condone having them there overnight? Silence in that context means consent and invariably the company and it's representatives cannot absolve themselves of liability they incurred by their actions or inactions.Stop with the sentiments and think of families who have lost loved ones as a result of this tragedy occassioned bythe greed and gross irresponsibility
elsie i love ur husband's craft and am a big fan.but u no well for this blunder wey u just drop.someone has to bear responsibility either way and sorry it just has to be the head.get used to change people.
Dis is a bunch of crap....if he hadd signd anoda contract....so dey shld release him or wot. Cos her hubby enjoys a bit frm Richard dey shld now let him go. Neways him n d contractor dats in question 2 b held accountable...it's dat simple
Is she saying that the laborers are guilty or she's echoing her views based on sentiments? I think the guy (Richard) should be jailed to set example for other development companies to follow, how could someone embark on such expensive project without making proper arrangement (Risk assessment) to prevent people from staying back after work or sleeping on site, does it cost much to employ night guard for the site? This lass is exactly like her husband, reminds me of how he (Basketmouth) was screaming #Change during the last election, was thinking Naija will be like Yankee by now, they should go and hide their face in their bedroom, THEY ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM IN NIGERIA.
Mr Richard has affected people's lives positively. He is a man of honour, A Hero, A Great man, The true definition of CHANGE in dis nation. He shouldnt be treated like this. Pls free him. #freerichard
Bullshit about all what he did and did not do. few questions. was the building sealed up previously by the govt? what 3 or 5 storey the approved plan?. May he die in prison. Lekki garden and this bastard Richard Nyong Defrauded me. Took my money for money, did not give me any house. i wish you well in kirikiri Mr Richard and I hope lekki Garden dies after this.
Oga or whoever, you lie! If you don't have anything to say, keep quiet. Defraud who? I'm sure you are a squatter somewhere like those miscreants living in an uncompleted building. Watch out, where you're staying will soon fall because of your lies!
Yes, marked as defective and left there for how long for labourers to move in? It's sad people died. We all make mistakes and we pray against unfortunate outcomes, I must say.
Please lets be reasonable for once and stop all this nonsense, excuses and shifting of blame. He is the CEO of the company. He is responsible for decisions made by the company. He should and I believe is aware of the going ons in the company. The hired the contractors. He determines who has access to the building site. I understand that he was served a seal notice for contravening the number of floors that was approved for this building. He had the effrontery to remove the seal and continue with the construction. How on earth isn't he responsible for the victims of this building collapse. Please stop all these so-called attention seeking celebrities should stop all these nonsense and protection of vested interests in the guise of seeking justice for Mr Nyong. He has demonstrated a total disregard for the rule of law and gross incompetence. He should man up and face the music. Shikena!

I totally agree , the destitutes sleep any where so long as there is a cover , if it was a completed building I would understand but this was an uncomplicated building , the QUESTION IS WHY WERE THEY THERE AT THAT ODD HOUR ? Did the people that employ them gave them accommodation there ? Who did they pay pay rent to for sleeping in someone else's unothorized property? That's why in EU the railway stations are closed because a lot of people used to go sleep there , if that guy has a good lawyer he'll win this case and charge the court for false accusations ~ SwashDaStallion-~
Elsie, In civilized society the role of a leader is to ASSURE a deliverable is completed according to standards. What does this mean? Due diligence and monitoring, checks and balances to guarantee a desired product. Whether laborers decided against rules to sleep there or not, the fact remains that based on your note, nepotism and not ability to perform was the premise for selecting the contractor. Second, despite clarity on the fact that nepotism was the premise for the selection, the owner of the company did not do his due diligence to put the appropriate checks and balances in place to assure his highly priced product would meet expected standards. In civilized societies, when poor decision making is the cause of a bad product, the decision maker's head rolls. So, you just indicted your friend with this ya note. I know he is a fellow Calabar person but that does not mean he was not negligent in the trust accorded him by those who decided to pay him for houses or who were working for him. If it was not the laborers it would have been resident families. To think I was looking into a purchase.
Elsie or wareva ur name is shut the fuck up already! So if the building had been finished and take n by tenants, u will spew that "leave ur house by 6pm and return back to ur house at 8am"??? If basketmouth was in that rumble, I guess u would still come out and write this rubbish!???#Anuofia
Just merrygo-rounding! What is this? What's the point now? Is he the C.E.O or not? was he the one that gave the contract to the contractor or not? Why can't he find a competent contractor?
The first two building sank , it means the foundation wasn't solid...i have pictures and videos because i went there myself just to see how bad it was....as at when i went, people trapped in the first two buildings were still making calls to their families outside....the foundation wasnt. Strong enough to carry the building and im sure the MD knew that. He should rot in jail
Else's comment is a sad reminder of one of the things wrong with Nigerians, ignorance!!! Richard owns the building, whether people were supposed to be there at 3am or not is immaterial; Richard is liable, very liable. He has the responsibility to keep the place safe and should have ensured (by all means) that nobody stays there because it is defective. When will we grow up and understand some of the basic things that will ensure that people should be held accountable for their actions and inactions?? Surely, going to the university for a degree is different from being educated. Elsie and her likes need to shut up and stay away from what they no nothing about, emotions and sentiments have got nothing to do with matters of the law!
Hmmm too sad that people die,but there is no work going on,on the site what is the worker doing there?are is paying them?are working for the company?so many to ask.but no case for this case go by what Bright wife said
Laborers almost always stay the night at their jobs, them being there at 3am is inconsequential! I'm sure they stayed the night even at yours while it was under construction. The building could as well have fallen at 3pm. Would they be justified then? Plus if it was defective and unsafe the place shd have been sealed. Lekki gardens mgt were negligent with peoples lives.
Why give a job to your shoddy best friend? I mean this is business and u have to have known the guy was crooked if he really was your best friend. Are there no more competent hands?
Richard Nyong is the ceo. Possibly an engineer. He 'knows' this business. In architecture theres no room for errors. It costs lives! This is a very serious issue Elsie and Richard Nyong and those involved must pay. You dont endanger lives for profit.
Finally there is justice in Nigeria and u want to argue based on the fact that the guy is nice?
Please stay out of it and let the courts decide. Your arguments are weak.
Oh no! Mrs basket mouth why displaying your ignorance in public like this, are u an investor in that project? I did not know you are such a daft. All your points are pointless and shows that you don't even listen and watch news. If a building collapse on your family u will understand. Use your time to play computer game not exposing the type of woman your husband married.
Bullshit basket mouth! Because he attends your show and buys the VIP SEAT! Chief this guy is an ass ! I bought a house in one of the estates he built . Everything is substandard, the walls are cracking to shreds and very poor sewage system ! He charges the hell out of residents in regards to electricity,! 15000 naira base charge monthly and 55 naira pe r KWH. Yet the electricity he generates fluctuates form 139v to 199v destroying household equipments because of fake cables laid ! even when u travel for a year and u never usd light he will force u to per 150000 naira base charge X12 months before he can sell electricity token to u. He BELEIVE HE IS SICK IN THE HEAD !
Type Lekki gardens on you tube and u will see the disgraceful things he has done in life.... The man is sick in the head even be looking at his ugly clown face ud know
Please. I am an engineer also and jato construction around the lekki axis, so I understand what the state govt is saying. Please when the authority put a seal on ur building . You submit necessary documents to them for approval of 21days but ends up been 5years after you have been drained financially from settling them.
Please ask your landlords if for is building approval and see if he can produce it.
Please govt leave up to your responsibilities and also probe your senior officers if they never received appreciation of any kind from this man.
Please for those saying his he not the CEO the local govt building that collapsed during the last administration killing 3times this nhmber. Nothing was said of that issue. Please we seek equal Justice in this country
It is so sad that he allowed others to put sansan in his garri. Next time he will be more strict either to family or foe & insist they play by the rule. God help him.
All these so called celebrities and their families have to help out their generous patron. Most of them have received heavy patronage in times past and it's time to pay back.

I don't blame else for say this because in Nigeria I guess not everyone receives the same treatment. The case of synagogue church and till today the pastor walks freely in otherwords do the same for this man or handcuff TB joshua cos people died in both cases @maunne
i suggest you check out what a corporate manslaughter is about, for as long as the business belongs to him, he bears the responsibility for all incident/accident.
Shameless idiots; can't stand the competition this young man Richard gave you guys. So you come under social media to make sure you slash him because you want him down. Poor you, justice will prevail. It's only on our country that epitome of genuine success are not celebrated. He should be a figure to reach our kids hard work. No man is infallible. Let's agree its his building and he's liable. What right has the shanty dwellers and labourers to sneak in there and sleep without his consent.its ILLEGAL Away with stupid sentiment. I blame the govt who didn't provide homeless refuge as in developed countries. I blame them for not supervising projects well enough to see the 5th floor since January or advised the coy to pull it down. I blame the contractor who didn't do his job well. I blame the coy who didn't put strong barricades. But is it enough to treat Richard as a criminal.HELL NO. Though the govt cannot support youth initiative and one youth stood out with hard work. He should be applauded; accorded a hero. But what does the govt do; they are quick to surpress youth effort. Why didn't Dana mds go on cuffs when their plane crashed, or even TB Joshua. Mistakes are to make people better And so Richard would always say-don't let the game define who you are. He is the type my nation need. And for you venom spitters; if you are a youth, reflect on your life. Find a better skill to develop other than playing commentators. Linda developed hers and gave us the platform to air. Find your calling and quit this envy, hatred and prejudice before it eats you up. Thank you Elsie for speaking out. and wishing you all a good week
pls keep quiet ELsie. keep ur mouth shut. weda the laborers slept there or not is not an excuse. the house you dey stay don collapse?when they will be building a 5 storey with a 2 storey building foundation.
She can say this because her child was not in the building. Secondly let us Nigerians call a spade a spade. @Zoro ...please go around and inspect Lekki Garden houses please. I pray this man is not an example to any child. For the line of business he is in, he should have sort quality first! This was and is an inevitable end to the story. I passed this place a few months back and saw the sorry state of the building and complained to my companion. ask yourself, can this site be a Julius Berger site? Why are all their jobs of high quality? Does the MD have to go to see all the sites...? the answer is NO. The company has a standard. This guys should be put in Jail forever!!!!! There was nothing to repair on a building that the foundation was bad, other than demolish it and rebuild.

Thanks for voicing our
ReplyDeleteSad ,
ReplyDeleteI am an Engr. Please tell me, how do u explain the poor jobs done in most of the other Lekki Gardens buildings? I worked on 1,water sips in from the foundation.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with most new houses these days. I lived in friend's colony when it was just built. Alot of houses caught fire because of faulty wiring. We had water marks on our walls from the foundation. When it rains, you can't leave your house. It's not just lekki Gardens, it's most new houses of nowadays.

ReplyDeleteYou must be stupid for indirect protecting the internet the Nyong,do you know sorrow that the incident had caused to the victim family and Nigeria at large? Let justice prevail but don't come out to say nonsense
ReplyDeleteObeni, justice prevails so true. But will the poor man who triedto repair the building be punished for the wrong of the people who stayed there knowing fully well the state of the building. Think critically not rationally.
DeleteYou actually calling yourself stupid......three questions , was he the contractor? Did you read where he was as notified abt the sun standard goods n he called for a new constitution company? Lastly, if he was Yoruba will you be spewing out hatred? stop embarrassing yourself.
DeleteLet justice prevail?wot of T.B Joshua?y is he nt in prison?
DeleteHmm! People online believe the house was already completed and it was the tenants that got killed in the collapse. Whoa! So it was laborers sleeping their illegally that got killed? A lot of people have been fighting for this Richard guy online today. I guess he really must be a good guy that got into a bad situation. I wish him all the best.
ReplyDeleteDo You Have Problems Lasting Long in Bed?
What wrong with all these people making a case for this man, is there something clouding thre judgment
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, what can I say? Well, the case is in court let the truth prevail.

DeleteMay God forgive you for all the rubbish you say. This is one case gone bad and of they'll truly let justice prevail, this man will win. The house was not being built. Work had stopped in the house. Miscreants were sleeping there. It collapsed. No work was being done in the house.

ReplyDeleteWhy calling black white? The worker that NEMA rescued were all kitted on health & safety equipment. For your information, work was going on at the time d building collapsed. Buy one and get free don yawa.
ReplyDeleteOga, I was there and saw the whole thing how ca workers rescued wear nema helmet and reflective jacket. Nah nema be contractor.
DeleteGood gesture Mrs. Okpocha

ReplyDeleteAre you by any means saying that work was not currently being carried out on the building? We are aware that most of the workers in the building were not Nigerians. What provision did Lekki gardens make for their accommodation? If your claim is right, should it not be the responsibility of Lekki gardens to ensure the entrance doors were sealed.

ReplyDeletedear Austin, pls do not say what you are not sure, construction was awarded to an independent contractor and work stopped in January. pls be guided.
DeleteMr.
Deletethe Truth IS THAT THE BUILDING COULD HAVE COLLAPSED AT ANY HOUR.
ReplyDeleteSO MRS BASKET MOUTH, SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU DUMMY.
Deletegram!!
ReplyDeletemay the souls of the faithful the parted through the mercies of God rest in peace
One question. If she had lost basketmouth in that ill fated building would she be saying this?
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly the problem with us Nigerians, nobody is willing to take responsibilities, this is real sad.As the CEO,he should accept responsibility and bear the consequences of the failed project that collapsed. After all he has been taking all the credit for the other buildings.

ReplyDeletePlease respect the dead. It's not your field and you know nothing about engineering. In fact your story make no sense. How do you repair major structural defect on a building? Pls limit your contribution to nollywood, where you belong
ReplyDeleteI really wonder why the man is being held. Did he pull the house down? Well bad Belle people go follow dey chuk eye for the case dey make things worse. I pray justice gets served properly. He should be set free.

ReplyDeleteHmmm. It's only God that knows the truth
ReplyDeleteStrogly agreed.. This man is innocent.
ReplyDeleteCan Mr Richard in all honesty tell us he didn't know the labourers spend the night in the building?
ReplyDeleteWas that the only uncompleted building where laborers slept, is that going to stop other laborers from repeating same. Even if he knew, do you think he prayed for such incident to have happened. An independent contractor was fully responsible for seeing to the completion of the building. If this incident happened after the building was completed and handed over you can then blame Mr Richard so pls know tour facts.
DeleteNa wa, rest in peace all
ReplyDeleteNa lie jor. How about other buildings that this wicked man removed the roof and added 2 more floors? Why did another building collapse in another of his estates?
ReplyDeleteAkpabio cannot save him this time. 35 dead people is not a joke.
Hmmm
ReplyDeleteShe made no case at all.
ReplyDeleteNigerians and pushing blame.
Well said. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteYou're an idiot of you think he's innocent. Can't find anything in your write up that points to his innocence.
ReplyDeleteMrs basketmouth everything u said only implicates richard the more awarding a contract to an incompetent contractor is whose fault? The govt sealed the building and they removed the seal and continued working who shd govt hold rezponsible? Labourers were sleeping in a place where ghey are not supposed to be who has the ultimate responsibility? Answer to all is richard either he is not untop of his job or also incompetent
ReplyDeleteElsie the heavy olodo in class in unilag. She is too dumb to write this type of English. Very sure someone typed this for her or the write up was sent to her. Dumb fuck! Ur family member is not involved that's y u ve mouth to talk.
ReplyDeletePerhaps she didn't see the news that said the building was not approved to be 5 storeys but they blatantly disregarded that and even unsealed it after the relevant agencies sealed it.
ReplyDeleteI pity Richard. He's been treated badly since dt incident. I hope our lawyers nd judges understands it's not his fault
ReplyDeleteLIB ADDICT#just passing#
U are very stupid for saying this...shut up ur dirty mouth. I pray that someone u love dies in a collapsed building u fool!
DeleteLet the law's of the land decides
ReplyDeleteBetter shut up madam basketmouth. Ur family isn't there that's why. How are we sure the man is not one of ur fuckery. Festac bingo turn lekki bulldog.
ReplyDeleteOK let's see as the story goes on.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm
ReplyDeleteWell, this story isn't different from what the media relayed.
ReplyDeleteThis man's case. Wonder what the true picture is. Hope the right thing is done at the end
ReplyDeleteIt is quite sad that the building at Lekki Gardens had to collapse.
ReplyDeleteI think Nigerians need to be realistic and stop being emotionally sentimental about issues.
Madam next time read thru ur write up the second time
ReplyDeleteU see.
ReplyDeleteDnt judge ppl based on media basket mouth
God is in control
ReplyDeleteWould you shut up and let the court decide if he is innocent or not. This our country sef!
ReplyDeleteDoes that contradict Lagos State position that the company violated the approved number of floors? How about all the other sites that occupants and buyers have been complaining about as defective. Better keep basket mouth to comedy. There is no comedy about lost life.
ReplyDeleteAnd whAt if the building collapsed at 10 in the morning is it not the same. Or buildings don't collapse during the day. So far they are still working there after they discovered the materials are sub standard it's their fault.
ReplyDeleteThank God some people nos d truth ooo..
ReplyDeleteThe Handcuffs were not necessary....very unfair #SayNoToInjustice
ReplyDeleteHmm! Thanks Elsie.#freerichardnyong
ReplyDeleteBasket mouth wife should shut up.so laborers are not meant to stay beyond 6pm so wat if d place was completed and the owners move in u will tell dem not to stay beyond 6pm rubbish talk
ReplyDeleteThank you Elsie for standing for the truth at this time. God will vindicate him, amen!!!
ReplyDeleteSo whats her point? its quite sad but its his company so he has to take responisbility
ReplyDeleteI guess you think this is one of your husband's jokes.better shut up and allow justice take its course.
ReplyDeleteEayah

ReplyDeleteTAKE NOTE DAT D LABOURES WORE HELMETS WEN DEY WERE RESCUED.MAYB DEY SLEPT WITH THEM ON.MRS OKPOCHA.CHECK UR FACTS
ReplyDeleteU must be sick 4 saying dis!
ReplyDeleteAll of this would be all well and good if there was an established pattern of mismanagement, shoddy and substandard work, and substandard materials at Lekki Garden developments. Look it up on Nairaland; there is a 16-page (and growing) thread called "Lekki Gardens Is it Genuine?" and see how owners and residents complain.
ReplyDeleteMr Nyong blatantly cut corners in order to maximise profit and with minimal concerns for quality safety, or any care or concern for the buyers he now seems to care for. He jeopardised the safety of people not only on this estate but in others. He has done the same building extension not only in this estate but in all the others as well.
However, he has paid people off at the local governments, and may have made SIGNIFICANT political donations, so don't be surprised if this all disappears off the radar.
Hmmm...the deed has already been done, can't bring back the dead

ReplyDeleteUnderstandable but what about the addition of 2 more floors
ReplyDeleteHeavy local festac girl. All the travelling abroad still in vain.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lame excuse! Going by her recount, there were catalog of mistakes made on this project. So I'm afraid the buck stops with him... and no amount of defence will absolve him from his inactions.
ReplyDeleteLinda and everyone here. I think this Elsie's post isn't a sincere one.
ReplyDeleteI responded to her post on IG and gave my personal experience on the short practices of this Lekki gardens ppl (no insult, just personal experience) and this lady deleted my post in less than a minute.
So me sef I'm taking a screen shot of this one just in case you don't post it
What's she talking about?
ReplyDeleteSad.....Now he will be prosecuted for bn an employer of labour.......Naija
ReplyDeleteMoye says so via BB Passport courtesy LIB....
She is an uneducated unexposed Nigerian product blinded by blood money shared by that criminal
ReplyDeleteIn all cases of deaths as a result of an occupational hazard, the MD or CEO is liable.
I cannot even deal with the level of ignorance on this issue.
Elsie people died. Not goats. You ask why did they stay at a construction site? Are you so dull? They were being exploited and the little wages they were getting was not paid.
An employer should not expose workers to unreasonable risk. The building was an accident waiting to happen,
There is always two sides to a story.innocent young man.may God help him out of this.
ReplyDeleteI think this so called friends of Richard need mental revaluation ,just because he has been able to make them own a 3 bedroom flats on the island doesn't mean we should hide away from the truth ,The MD as a professional ought to have taken precaution on that building since it was still under construction and their own rules says no one is allowed to stay in the build ,finish at 6pm then resume at 8am . its their responsibilities making sure everyone leaves , Besides i think the body responsible for property safety should take blame because according to them, the building was already marked for demolition why didn't they seal it up and ask everyone to leave or no activity must take place their again ? As for Lagos state government with two faced ,why is the guy been treated like a criminal when the same offence was committed by TB Joshua and he was never handcuff neither was he even present in court .
ReplyDeleteIts a Lil bit different sir, TB Joshua is the client, Lekki Gardens is the contractor. TB Joshua paid someone like Lekki Garden to build his guest House. He's not an engineer. He's still not absorbed of all blame dou. He should still face some jail time dou.
DeleteSo sad
ReplyDeleteStop this hypocrisy! 34 people died for God sake....isnt that enough to prosecute who ever was in charge of the building? ??
ReplyDeleteYou're making matters worse madam.
ReplyDeleteAkuko Mike.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Mrs basketmouth, never knew you were this empty upstairs. Who encouraged u on this write up that's if u wrote it urself. Pls go read up their official statement and maybe u will put that post down. I can see how real your struggle is " I must be known"
ReplyDeleteThe whole Mr Basketmouth can't punctuate!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is head of the company and so therefore should take responsibility of what has transpired.
ReplyDeleteMrs basketmouth look at your reasoning. You won't be saying all of these if your family member was involved. At this ur mentality, I pity for basketmouth. When na gate man and driver de go market to buy food stuffs for you. Useless thing trying to be relevant.better go back to unilag and complete your programme.
ReplyDeleteHe is head of the company and so therefore should take responsibility of what has transpired.
ReplyDeleteHe is head of the company and so therefore should take responsibility of what has transpired.
ReplyDeleteHe is head of the company and so therefore should take responsibility of what has transpired.
ReplyDeleteShut up, silly fool. That is why some of the rescued had their hard hats on. Were they sleeping with their hats? Probably working into the night. What was his excuse for building on an already defective building? Was he not supposed to tear it down and rebuild? Obviously he was trying to patch up. Your friend does not seem so innocent
ReplyDeleteSo if d building collapsed during working hours what did be his excuse? Ask for justice for those who died not for people who didn't do their job well. Is he not supposed to check the projects he handles and make sure proper and adequate materials are being used. Aunty e be like say he give u beta discount for the house wey u but.😈
ReplyDeleteOk we don hear
ReplyDeleteNigerians and sentiments.. Ignorance is not an excuse...

ReplyDeleteI can see all these celebs got scripted notes lol. Seyilaw posted the same thing.
ReplyDeleteStory. Nigerian businessmen cutting corners since 1914. He has met his waterloo.
ReplyDeleteMadam you are talking rubbish
ReplyDeleteTrue word@elsieokpocha....I second that cos that's Nuffin Buh the truth.....Some of us are so blind to the truth, justice must prevail and may the departed souls rest in peace...Amen
ReplyDeleteAnd your point is? A defective building ought to have no human being in it. Simple. Your write up has only proved that your friend Richard was negligent and selfish.
ReplyDeleteEya this lekki gardens guy is a good person from all indications.
ReplyDeleteDid she say he's innocent? Woman please...there's something we call precarious liability in law. This her post is embarrassing and lacks intelligence. If it was against company policy why did the company condone having them there overnight? Silence in that context means consent and invariably the company and it's representatives cannot absolve themselves of liability they incurred by their actions or inactions.Stop with the sentiments and think of families who have lost loved ones as a result of this tragedy occassioned bythe greed and gross irresponsibility
ReplyDeleteelsie i love ur husband's craft and am a big fan.but u no well for this blunder wey u just drop.someone has to bear responsibility either way and sorry it just has to be the head.get used to change people.
ReplyDeleteDis is a bunch of crap....if he hadd signd anoda contract....so dey shld release him or wot. Cos her hubby enjoys a bit frm Richard dey shld now let him go. Neways him n d contractor dats in question 2 b held accountable...it's dat simple
ReplyDeleteIs she saying that the laborers are guilty or she's echoing her views based on sentiments? I think the guy (Richard) should be jailed to set example for other development companies to follow, how could someone embark on such expensive project without making proper arrangement (Risk assessment) to prevent people from staying back after work or sleeping on site, does it cost much to employ night guard for the site?
ReplyDeleteThis lass is exactly like her husband, reminds me of how he (Basketmouth) was screaming #Change during the last election, was thinking Naija will be like Yankee by now, they should go and hide their face in their bedroom, THEY ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM IN NIGERIA.
Rubbish.
Someone must be held, it's unfortunate tho.
ReplyDeleteIsorite...
ReplyDeleteMr Richard has affected people's lives positively. He is a man of honour, A Hero, A Great man, The true definition of CHANGE in dis nation. He shouldnt be treated like this. Pls free him. #freerichard
ReplyDeleteYou must be sick upstairs.
Deletehmmm
ReplyDeleteNoted, she not go hid her head,
ReplyDeleteBullshit about all what he did and did not do. few questions. was the building sealed up previously by the govt? what 3 or 5 storey the approved plan?. May he die in prison. Lekki garden and this bastard Richard Nyong Defrauded me. Took my money for money, did not give me any house. i wish you well in kirikiri Mr Richard and I hope lekki Garden dies after this.
ReplyDeleteOga or whoever, you lie! If you don't have anything to say, keep quiet. Defraud who? I'm sure you are a squatter somewhere like those miscreants living in an uncompleted building. Watch out, where you're staying will soon fall because of your lies!
DeleteYes, marked as defective and left there for how long for labourers to move in? It's sad people died. We all make mistakes and we pray against unfortunate outcomes, I must say.
ReplyDeleteI pity him sha!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww... let's watch and see
ReplyDeletePlease lets be reasonable for once and stop all this nonsense, excuses and shifting of blame. ReplyDeleteI totally agree , the destitutes sleep any where so long as there is a cover , if it was a completed building I would understand but this was an uncomplicated building , the QUESTION IS WHY WERE THEY THERE AT THAT ODD HOUR ? Did the people that employ them gave them accommodation there ? Who did they pay pay rent to for sleeping in someone else's unothorized property? That's why in EU the railway stations are closed because a lot of people used to go sleep there , if that guy has a good lawyer he'll win this case and charge the court for false accusations ~ SwashDaStallion-~
ReplyDeleteElsie,
ReplyDeleteIn civilized society the role of a leader is to ASSURE a deliverable is completed according to standards.
ReplyDeleteJust merrygo-rounding! What is this? What's the point now? Is he the C.E.O or not? was he the one that gave the contract to the contractor or not? Why can't he find a competent contractor?
ReplyDeleteAlaye enter jail...Nonsense!
ReplyDeleteElse's comment is a sad reminder of one of the things wrong with Nigerians, ignorance!!!
ReplyDeleteRichard owns the building, whether people were supposed to be there at 3am or not is immaterial; Richard is liable, very liable.
Hmmm too sad that people die,but there is no work going on,on the site what is the worker doing there?are is paying them?are working for the company?so many to ask.but no case for this case go by what Bright wife said
ReplyDeleteDear Elsie,
ReplyDeleteLaborers almost always stay the night at their jobs, them being there at 3am is inconsequential!
ReplyDeleteBullshit basket mouth!

It is so sad that he allowed others to put sansan in his garri. Next time he will be more strict either to family or foe & insist they play by the rule. God help him.
ReplyDeleteAll these so called celebrities and their families have to help out their generous patron. Most of them have received heavy patronage in times past and it's time to pay back.

ReplyDeletei suggest you check out what a corporate manslaughter is about, for as long as the business belongs to him, he bears the responsibility for all incident/accident.

ReplyDeleteI pity dis guy
Shameless idiots; can't stand the competition this young man Richard gave you guys. So you come under social media to make sure you slash him because you want him down. Poor you, justice will prevail.
ReplyDeleteIt's only on our country that epitome of genuine success are not celebrated. He should be a figure to reach our kids hard work. No man is infallible. Let's agree its his building and he's liable.
What right has the shanty dwellers and labourers to sneak in there and sleep without his consent.its ILLEGAL
Away with stupid sentiment.

Thank you Elsie for speaking out.

pls keep quiet ELsie. keep ur mouth shut. weda the laborers slept there or not is not an excuse. the house you dey stay don collapse?when they will be building a 5 storey with a 2 storey building foundation.
ReplyDeleteShe can say this because her child was not in the building.
ReplyDeleteThere was nothing to repair on a building that the foundation was bad, other than demolish it and rebuild.
