Samson Siasia, Nigeria's caretaker coach for the qualifiers after Sunday Oliseh's shock resignation started the match with Odion Ighalo , Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho staring in a three- pronged attack for the host team.
Obaobona started in the heart of the defence for the super Eagles while new captain John Mikel Obi started alongside Etebo in the heart of midfield as Siasia wanted his team to come out with all three points at home ahead of a tricky away tie in Egypt.
Nigeria pressurized in the first half with efforts from Etebo, Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho unable to break the Egyptian defence down as the match ended 0-0 in the first half.
The second half began with Oghenekaro Etebo scoring in the 59th minute after an Iheanacho shot caused a rebound to which Etebo gladly put into the net.
Alex Iwobi was introduced with 8 minutes to go as he made his first competitive debut for Nigeria and tried with his teammates to increase Nigeria's lead over Egypt
Nigeria had chances to increase their lead with efforts from Etebo, Victor Moses and Ighalo unable to increase the lead.
With three minutes of extra time added, Mohammed Salah , Egypt's star man scoring after the Nigerian defence played him onside, much to the delight of the away team.
The pain and sadness on Samson Siasia's face was too evident to see as 20,000 Nigerian fans at the stadium in Kaduna left unhappy after seeing the home team drop two valuable points.
At the moment, Egypt are on top of group G with seven points from two matches, while Nigeria are two points behind with only the overall group winners guaranteed automatic passage to AFCON 2017 in Gabon.

ReplyDeleteWhy should u be angry? Do u think it is an easy tin.
ReplyDeleteHow do expect Nigeria to win a team that the coach is on the verge of sack if he loses the match?

ReplyDeleteMtchewww offside equalizer, if not that mumu who lost chance after he has dribbled goalkeeper. That madness linesman decision will not affected ðŸ˜
ReplyDelete#reeshahr
Oliseh and gmb's bad luck!!!
ReplyDeleteThat goal na ojoro
ReplyDeleteThis guys need to wake up fast!!!! 9ja football is lethargic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame
ReplyDeleteWe really played well.Been a long time I saw our super eagles play good football like this.It will be a very difficult mountain to climb. The damage has already been done. Not blaming Sunday Oliseh for the silly era he held sway is like not holding GEJ responsible for all the mess our economy is in today.Mtcheeeew! When incompetent people lead, they leave problems everywhere for others to suffer to solve it.
ReplyDeleteOur eagles are not flying like before mmm.
ReplyDeleteA'ight.
ReplyDeleteI pray dey wil mak it. Dey allowd dat salla dat runs lik a tiger to score us jus at d last mins. Too bad
ReplyDeleteNice try
ReplyDeleteThats what u get if u dont make good use of ur chances. To be leading by 1 0 is dangerous in dis kind of match.
ReplyDeleteAlex iwobi shud have come on earlier. His impact was felt immediately he came on and Moses effort at goal came off him just after a few touches. I hope SiaSia learns to start with better quality next time especially when so much is at stake
ReplyDeleteNigeria needs to start trying out other intl players. There are boys out there that will kill themselves for super eagles if given the chance. We need more aggressive players like John Ogu. My two cents
ReplyDeleteIt is well
ReplyDeleteThank God i didn't waste my time to watch the match.
ReplyDeleteDollar affected the match.....una wan pay dem bonus with naira I hear.
ReplyDeleteIt is better to promise little and deliver much than to promise heaven and earth only to deliver nothing worthwhile. It sulks to hear our players these days end game they have not even started at all in their favor.
ReplyDeleteNija tried joor ...it's their finishing that let eem down
