Graphic photos: Armed Fulani herdsmen attack Agatu LGA, Benue State, scores killed, village set ablaze

Several people were killed and many houses razed to the ground when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Okoloko in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday.
According to reports, the heavily armed men who came in large numbers on life boats through the Benue river from Nasarawa and raided Akwu, Aila, Okoloko and other villages of Agatu.
Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement released through its Media Director, Mr. Anthony Ikwulono, confirmed the attack and called on the state governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, and his Deputy to make an unscheduled visit to the area to assess the situation for themselves and mobilize security to the area. It describes the attack as barbaric and unwarranted. Below is the statement:
The All Progressives Congress(APC), Benue State Chapter has in a strong term condemned attacks on the people of Okokolo in Agatu Local Government Area by Fulani Herdsmen setting the entire village ablaze.
It’s barbaric, Unwarranted and uncalled for. We, therefore, call on the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and his deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu to pay an Unscheduled visit to the area to assess the damages caused by the herdsmen.
We equally appeal to the governor to deploy extra security men to Agatu local government area.
Okokolo is the ancestral home of Agbaduma and the hometown of the state director of publicity, Mr. John Ikwulono.

      Fulanis have never been peaceful. They are one hell of a group of people filled with ethnocentricism. If you hurt or kill a fulani or his cattle today and he couldn't retaliate instantly, he/they will come back in 1,2,3,10, 20 years time, those barbaric animals never forgive. They are all the same, Buhari is a fulani and what I just said about Fulanis is not a fluke as you can all see in Buhari's issue with Dasuki( we all know there's nothing like 2.1b arms deal shiiii...) the truth is, Buhari is on a vendetta /revenge mission for what Dasuki did to him some 30 years back. Fulanis are evil...the same Fulanis caused havoc, committed genocide, ethnic cleansing in Sudan for years before Sudan became two countries!!!     May the souls of the dead rest i peace. But I have never really understood the issue of the Fulani Herdsmen. How come they are all over the country and not just in the North. And what exactly do they kill for? I thought they were just peaceful cattle herders that usually look for grass for their cattle to feed on.

    Nigeria should stop deceiving itself describing an unbriddled sect of terrorists as "fulani herdsmen". What I hate about Nigeria's approach to issue is their foot-dragging to acknowledge the reality of issues, give it the real attention it deserves and possibly nip a brooding disaster in the bud. This was same lackadaistic attention given to Boko haram at its nascent stage until it festered beyond control, costing more lives and resources to get it subdued (even may be..). Now perhaps the Nigerian government is waiting until the so-called 'fulani herdsmen' begin using bazookas and anti-aircraft guns before they are acknowledged for what they are? That will be nothing short of national deliberate stupidity to repeat the same mistake as with Boko haram. In Syria for example, it is known that many terrorist organisations with different names are operating, but the good thing is that they are all identified and tagged properly with the rightful name - Terrorists. That is the baseline to finding solution to their menace. There is no doubt that two or more terrorist organisations are operating in Nigeria, but only one of them is identified while others are incubating and growing undetected, yes! Deliberately undetected. Nigerian government should move quickly and do the needful. No more excuses.

We have six geographical zones: South-South, South-East, South-West, North-Central, North-East and North-West. Each of these zones should form an economic block and only pay tax to the Federal Govt. based on the revenue they derive from their zone. The Fed. Govt. should be in-charge of defence, foreign affairs and co-ordination only. God bless Nigeria!
