Photos: Three children abducted in Tripoli

The children, two brothers and a sister were kidnapped in the western town of Surman, 60km to the west of Tripoli, Libya on Wednesday, December 2, on their way to school. According to Libya Observer, the gunmen stopped their car driver in the city center and shot him in the leg before taking the three children away.

It's not known if the abduction was for ransom as no contact has been made with their father Riyad Al-Shirshari, a well-known businessman.

The Council of Elders of Libya condemned the abduction and called for the release of the children immediately. The identity of the kidnappers is still unknown.
