Hard times to hit Nigerian illegal immigrants in the UK

From February 2016, Landlords in the UK will need to check the immigration status of all new tenants over 18 years old before they move into their properties or they could face a £3,000 fine. People who also sublet are included. Homeowners who take in lodgers must also check that they have a right to reside in the UK before allowing them to sublet, or they will also be fined.

The UK government announced yesterday that these 'right to rent' rules will be introduced for all new tenancy agreements from 1 February 2016 in England.


It's part of the UK's new immigration bill which is currently going through parliament. Under the scheme, Landlords are also required to report any suspicious behaviour from tenants to the Home Office. They also introduced extra rules that will make it easier for landlords to evict tenants who are already occupying their properties if they don't have a right to remain in the UK or lose their rights to stay in the UK

    Omo dem plenty in UK o,I met a lady at mama elewa agoyin joint one day,very pretty lady that could pass for a miss Nigeria. I asked her why she works as a server there,she explained she doesn't have papers,I really felt for her. Dem plenty for Peckham like water,chai.

    So the landlords are now defacto immigration officers. If they don't like a tenant who is in the country illegally, the person could find themselves being deported. Sounds like a police state to me.

All terror caused in the UK were by UK citizens, 99% of crime committed by UK citizens, even those in committed in Nigeria, ask Saraki who is a UK citizen how much he has committed in Nigeria and he can even own houses in Nigeria.

    As much as I believe in doing the right thing, feel very sorry for those hat are going to be affected. If Donald Trump is elected I'm sure he will implement even worse in the States. It's also going to affect us because those that will be deported will probably come back to nothing and will be an added burden on yet to rebound economy. Sad!

    It reminds me of the Ghana must go campaign. How we used Ghanians as slaves, belittled them, ridiculed them and finally rounded them up and cast them out of Nigeria.
    Fast forward to many years later, Ghana is now one of the Giants of Africa and we are languishing and shrinking here in Nigeria.
    Ghanians are respected worldwide, have excellent leaders and the best schools and now Nigerians pay heavily to send their children to school in Ghana. School proprietors in Nigeria even pay more to have Ghanian teachers than Nigerians. How d mighty hath fallen.
    Nigerians in diaspore should not panic, history tends to repeat itself. It is well.

    Lol@ people celebrating the return of the illegals. You do realize that they're coming back to compete with you for resources? With Nigeria's large population, people need to leave or die or reduce their rate of reproduction. Emigrants should be encouraged; Nigeria is an over-populated dump that can't take care of the current citizens in it.
